okay but how will I still find out what my RPCusername and RPCpassphrase is?

You don't have to "find out", you can make it whatever you want. Just edit the spreadcoin.conf file.

The batch file actually opens the Spreadcoin.conf file or asks you to create one if you don't have one. Then it tells you to add the mining info to the file. And asks for the username and password.

Ok guys here is the batch file that I made. It creates a mining batch file for you.
I hope it is noob friendly.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/s71ju7vjwkaj3q9/SpreadcoinMinerConfig.bat?dl=0

Please post suggestions to help improve it.

Make sure to put the .bat file into the same directory as the miner.

Once it finishes it creates spreadcoinminer.bat, and you run this to mine.

Maybe I can make back my lost coins from donations. Smiley
So when I download this dropbox file thingy where do I put it? Cause I'll tell you if it works and gladly give you some SPREAD if it helps me get more hash outta my miner but I'm so Noobish I need direct step by step instructions to do this shit lol
Make sure to put the .bat file into the same directory as the miner.

It won't really help you get more hashes. It just creates the batch file you use to mine.
ya but I can just click mining in my spread wallet so what would this do that is different?
click mining in the spread wallet is CPU mining, which you can hardly mine anything now with the net hashrate of 2.8GH/s.
okay but how will I still find out what my RPCusername and RPCpassphrase is?
If you have a laptop and you don't have an amd graphics card then this probably won't help you. Sorry. But when you get your desktop for Christmas then it will. (if it has an AMD card)

Try to get one with an R9 290X AMD graphics card. I have one and it is a really good miner.

Interesting concept -- I've browsed through most of the thread but haven't seen a clear answer on a key point:

How specifically are mining pools avoided with this coin?
There is a whitepaper in OP. I think I should change OP to make it more clear why there are no pools, you are not the first one who asks.

Mr. Spread, I mean ZERO disrespect when I ask this and will definitely not push the issue as it's your coin... but would you be open to a name change for Spreadcoin at some point?  One of the biggest arguments against Darkcoin by many is its' name.  Spreadcoin is going to have many of the same features as DRK (and maybe even some improvements by the sounds of it!) BUT in my opinion, "Spreadcoin" isn't the greatest name ever for a coin, especially for a coin I feel can be a top 3-10 market cap coin within a year. Again, I mean no disrespect and if you love the current name, I won't mention it again.  But if you are open to a name change, I think it could bring even more attention to this coin.
I personally like the current name.

Thanks for the reply - don't know how I missed the White Paper on my first read through - really nice approach, I like it. Would definitely recommend taking a few paragraphs describing the block structure out of the white paper and stick it into the OP, will be easier to understand for newcomers.

The last one is easily the best one. But not the best miner you could get. You probably need one with an i5 and an R9 290X. Mine only cost 1.2k but didn't include a screen.

These are the 8 Desktops I can choose from for my Christmas present so which one do you guys think would be the best to set up as a full time miner?
The last one is easily the best one. But not the best miner you could get. You probably need one with an i5 and an R9 290X. Mine only cost 1.2k but didn't include a screen.
No those are all desktops my friend Smiley So you think like maybe an i7 and get the R9 290x myself and attach it to the desktop? or something like that lol

I will announce the precise rules of the contest tomorrow. Meanwhile here are all the artworks that you will need to make:

Logo:

Splash screen (you can make it with different dimensions if you want):

Image in the 'About' dialog (it doesn't need to be vertical, you can make it horizontal):

lol. Its already done. Smiley

Good day. I mined for several hours, but didn't receive any coins. So it should be? Thanks.
What is your hashrate? Have you mined at least one block?

Hashrate lowly - 40kH/s.
I opened my wallet and pushed the button "Start mining". Is that enough? Do i need writing anything in console?

P.s. Sorry for the stupid questions.
Heh, I left my laptop mining all day once. It was mining at 10 kh/s and it found a block.
Ha! I knew it was somewhere here NoobKidOnTheBlock.

Somebody really forgot that there is second exchange. These who bought at 450-1300 still can sell SPR 1500 on allcrypt (and don't forget about LTC orders). In other hand, someone was selling at allcypt 1500 when there was 2000 order on betasharex at same time.

Panic miners panic. SPR is too good to sell.

Look where we are now! Not even more than 2 months and we are 82 times bigger then that.

I was investigating quantum-resistance some time ago. It appears that all quantum resistant digital signature algorithms have insane key and signature sizes which makes them completely impractical to store in blockchain. Your proposed future-proofing won't work, to spend any of your "secured" coins you would still need to reveal your public key.

Size is indeed an issue from what I've read, but at some point it has to be done.

As for the alternate method, if you reveal it only during the time of the transaction, the time that the public key is exposed is minimal... the attacker must "race" ahead of you to not only extrapolate the private key (using his Quantum Computer) but also broadcast a spend transaction (with the cracked private key) that is processed by the network faster than yours.
