so i explained the plotting and nonce's and non overlapping to my totally frustrated and confused friend and he said it was magical and a perfect way to understand it... sharing so maybe it would help someone else understand easier its in noob language.. just so he could grasp the concept. hope it helps someone else as well. http://piratepad.net/u05YCGsdwdHow do you calculate where to start the next file?

People asked why I sold my 14334 BURST coins at 698 satoshis only a couple days ago. I wasn't sure it was the smart move at the moment, but now I see it was. This is why. I have seen this pattern in many coins in the past year and a half. They start with a nice run up in price because everyone is excited about the new thing. Then one of two things happen. Either the price wavers around a bit and climbs again, like DOGE and Litecoin, or once it starts dropping it just keeps on dropping and never regains its former glory, like most coins.
BURST may have a unique algorithm and mining method, but the real question here, where long term profits are concerned, is "What can BURST coin do that many other coins can't?", including Bitcoin.
And the answer is - nothing. Aside from its mining method there is nothing special or unique about BURST that should give anyone a reason to think it has any long term potential whatsoever.
Not to talk it down, as I want to mine it and make lots of money off of it, but this is the reality of the crypto coin world.
Having said all that, I am only here for the profit, and if I can't make money mining this coin, then it is useless to me. I don't give a damn about anything else that it can or can't do or anything unique about it.
And in my side business of home computer repair, I will be able to sell my 3 TB drives off within a few months to people who need new(er) hard drives, and for more than I paid for them, so it is impossible for me to lose on this deal. The only question is how much $$$ can I make off this coin.
You mega dumper... Ppl do not care about your 14334 BURST sold and out.

Burstcoin, could you please post your GPU plotter? I know it's incomplete, but I would love to take a look at it.

I have voted and may i ask do we need to promote BURST to Chinese? what we need most is thousands of miners now, not enough miners, the price will not grow, even at current price, everyone can make great profit with hdd, if have 10X , 100X miners then now, then everyone can mine little burst, like, if you can only mine 1burst /TB/day, then you will never sell the burst at current price, and with enough miners. adversiting team will be large enough , don't to worry can't sell out.

Don't forget that burst has probably the lowest energy use of all coins.

Burstcoin, could you please post your GPU plotter? I know it's incomplete, but I would love to take a look at it.
First implementation: http://pastebin.com/UccPBr4BSlower than dcct's plotter. Takes an array as a parameter of workgroupsize * 262160 bytes. Expects the address/nonce as last 16 bytes of each 262160 byte chunk, and the 262144 before that are written to as output for that plot. Seems to work ok. Second attempt: http://pastebin.com/pQAhvbc2Don't know if it works or not since it's too slow. Parameters: array of 16 bytes * workgroupsize, with address/nonce filled in each 16 bytes. array 262144 * workgroupsize for output. local buffer of size 32768 bytes I can't figure out why it's slower. Some restructuring was done to avoid conditionals, and a rotating buffer was used to read from faster local memory instead of hammering global. The problem seems to be writing the results to global memory, since commenting that out makes it run fast, but obviously won't give correct results. Any input would be appreciated, since I'm about ready to give up on making a gpu plotter.

See any probs with that as long as I get the ranges right?

Hurry rape the fuck of out this coin as many others do to any new coin. That's why I am sure crypto won't last, be sure to milk every last cent and then sell those half burnt out hard drives to other suckers you computer repair guys always do.
No. Believe it or not, I am one of the best and most ethical PC repair people you will ever meet. I am far better than anyone at Geek Squad. I take the time to make sure my work is done right. I zero wipe hard drives before formatting and reloading Windows even though it's probably not necessary. I refuse jobs on computers that are too old to bother spending money on. I test all hard drives with several testing programs and anything that fails my high standards gets replaced. As a businessman, it is better to have a happy customer and make less profit, than to squeeze someone for extra cash and their PC has inadequate parts.

If you want this thing to not become another Doge then I think the best thing to do is abandon the idea of a GPU plotter - as soon as that happens every asshole and his dog will be down to Bestbuy for 10x 4TB harddrives on the old Mastercard and rape this thing to death. The current slowness for plotting at least provides a barrier to entry to the massive storage farms.

My 4 3 TB drivs are going to take 10 days or more to plot, and as much as I'd like to have them done NOW, I must agree. The length of time to plot will help keep big farms out.
