I think the problem maybe caused by flash mining by big miners. I've seen this before on another coin. The solution was to hard fork into a proof of stake only coin. Unfortunately this happened after after several months of struggle and the community was so fractured by problems with forks that all of the exchanges and support was lost. The coin did run well with no forks at that point but it is gone now.
My suggestion is to go to a proof of stake only coin with a reasonable coin block cap. Interest rate should be high enough to supply some liquidity with a coin cap to prevent too high an inflation rate in the long term. Once things settle down for a while perhaps we can think of adding PoW back in some better form.
I agree this can be an option, however, the PoW thing will need adjustment more or less at the point when it's up. I tend to agree with what Lightsplasher is saying but is there a way to still have both? What about significantly reducing PoW and significantly increasing PoS to the point that PoS is securing the network?
This would have the benefit of encouraging saving and staking for interest and still nearly everyone with a computer and wallet could continue to participate in magi.
Another plus side to this would be even less energy use with staking compared to cpu mining.
Or... What about PoS on a mobile wallet, is it feasible? If it is, this could become a great asset when combined with MagiPay. Think about it, most everyone has a cell phone now. Wouldn't it be awesome to have the option to be able to do everything 'Magi' with the cell phone and no longer require a pc?
I vote for having both. I can see some adjustment needed to be done to PoW, as I can recall MAGI launched with PoW alone and huge hash going on at that time. There was a change we brought in is difficulty adjustment algo; it has been years, however, I'll double check if it's not been in fast responding to the current situations.

For one interested to solo mining: Setup magi.conf to include: daemon=1 server=1 rpcport=8232 rpcallowip=127.0.0.1 rpcuser=randome_username rpcpassword=randome_rpcpassword Run: minerd --url=http://127.0.0.1:8232 -u randome_username -p randome_rpcpassword -t thread_numbers -e cpu_efficiency Does not produce block changes! Maybe you need to add a line? minerd --url=http://127.0.0.1:8232 -u randome_username -p randome_rpcpassword -t thread_numbers -e cpu_efficiency --coinbase-addr=Purse [/quote] Thanks i actually got it running a few hrs ago with a lot of searching involved. But still figuring out how to add more miners to a single wallet without adding the ip for each one...

You can enable different IP by having in magi.conf

If you're saying blocks were not found, it just takes some time depending on the network.

until everything is resolved ill stick with solo mining just to support the coin. I dont think i would get any coins in the short term but id rather do solo than use a pool and see the coins i earned wiped away. At least i dont have anyone to blame with solo mining but myself. Thanks i actually got it running a few hrs ago with a lot of searching involved. But still figuring out how to add more miners to a single wallet without adding the ip for each one...
You can enable different IP by having in magi.conf yup i figured it out an hour ago but most of my devices have dynamic ip so i have to add it manually each time and restart the wallet. I also mine with lots of slow devices including my old phones so it is kinda a pain. I read in some forum to add 192.168.1.0 but it doesnt work for me. And thanks for taking the time to reply Joe i know your quite busy right now. Hopefully you can fix this soon. Im still betting on introducing XMG to people in my location as a starting coin. It has both POW and POS so it will be easy for them to experience both in work. my conf file # RPC connection from localhost allowed rpcallowip=127.0.0.1 rpcallowip=192.168.1.0 rpcallowip=192.168.1.1 rpcallowip=192.168.1.115 rpcallowip=192.168.1.112 rpcallowip=192.168.1.232 rpcallowip=192.168.1.125 it still gonna grow after i add some more of our devices but will need to make the ip static...

If you're saying blocks were not found, it just takes some time depending on the network. I'll do a solo test! Let's see what happens. I'll spend time searching for the block. Think I have a problem of fork again. Both servers running version 1.4.1.1 but Solo mining is giving me 43 xmg per block like every 30 seconds.

I remember that I had to put -E 1 for a video solo. This allowed to fulfill the block request. Whether it was discovered or not. And then the process launched another solution. There is no change of decision. This is my thought!

Enough of mining and supporting this coin! Spending and wasting a lot of time on the computer reading forums and trying to figure out how to properly mine, sync wallet, keep my coin (not mentioning how many I already lost twice).
This is exactly what somebody is trying to do. Panic and angry people. Don't go with it and stay strong together to find a solution. Together we can achieve more! and this is still happening, all should be able to mine or none. Some people with code knowledge are still benefiting from mining while standard users struggle with reading the posts and understanding what to do and how to make things run. if this coin is for developers or code experts than it should be told.
