Hello, I am interested in buying 3x adapter for the power supply instead of using a jumper wire Are you able to help me with this? If so, how much would it be? Thanks!

Pmed about the 12V 2.5/5.5mm DC plug prices. They look like good quality cables as well.

Hello and Welcome Gridseed miners!
This recent popularity in my work due to these interesting devices has in two days already surpassed my capacity to efficiently complete orders.
This stems from two distinct aspects, (1) the gridseed device has effectively two different running modes that have vastly different power thresholds (10W vs. 65W) and (2) the custom nature of my work yields orders that are just variations of each other but with slightly different measurements. The power issue means that I cannot make very 'dense' cables of up to 20 units per PCIe connector because if they are run in dual mode a fire will ensue. The second point is more easily dealt with by standardizing gridseed cables.
Instead of just turning tail and hiding I want to engage the mining community by developing a 'standard cable' for gridseed's that will ease manufacturing and allow me to efficiently get these products into your hands. Custom orders could still be done but will have an extended queue while I work to create as many standard cables as possible.
So my thoughts on this are to basically have a single cable type with set measurements and connectors. My first draft of this would be a PCIe adapter with three plugs around 3ft in length with a 6in pitch (distance between plugs). The PCIe connector will be male so it has the most compatibility with ATX PSUs and the DC plugs will be 2.5mmID x 5.5mmOD. There has been some discussion that 2.1mmID plugs fit but since I do not have a device handy I cannot verify.
I would like to solicit comments on my proposal and draft cable from you the miners. Does this sound like something you can get behind in helping me help you? Please leave your comments and let's get this finalized so that I can start churning out these cables and get these orders done. Thanks
I will post any later updates in this message.

Thx, for your engagment ...
concerning the plug I would use 2.5-5.5mm as it seems to be the official one, I'm using both type 2.1 and 2.5 successfully ...
how many cables can be fit in a standard psu? .... I think around 6 so this will leave us with 6 * 3 connections .... 18 ...
Either we get a way to connect more of those cable to one psu or ... we would have to over buy psu's ...
I would suggest at least a 5 plug cable ... as standard
a standard 650Watt PSU could easily hold 40 miners .... powered for scrypt mining ...
in maybee 2 weeks it will be 99% that only run scrypt ...

Thanks for the thoughts gents. Let me think on them and see if I can design something that can work with the dual power nature of these devices. I do agree that BTC mining is limited with these units but all I need is someone who gives dual mining a try not thinking and causes a fire. That doesn't sit well in my stomach. I like the fuse idea but let me see if it is realistic and doesn't add too much to the cost. Keep the ideas coming. EDIT: I see a lot of interest with the gridseed cases from Spotswood. Should I favor having cables with runs of 5 plugs so that will fit well with his case? I would think so as 20 miners would only need 1 or 2 PCIe connections. What do you guys think?

Are you sure 3 leads isnt too many? I thought 8 pin PCIe was 150 watts max. 3 X 60 is 180. Seems like 2 per pcie lead, is optimal if you want to run dual mode.

It really depends what mode you are running in. For scrypt only mode 3 plugs is actually way underpowered as you can get just about 20 devices @10W on a single PCIe cable. The 18AWG wire can handle 10A and the minifit pins/housings are rated for 9A. Theoretically you can pull 9Ax12V=108W per wire pair. I would not push it that far but safely getting 80W per wire pair has been done ad infinum by miners. This gives 80W*3pairs=240W per PCIe cable. Those numbers from the PCIe spec are really safe and are meant to protect the graphics card and motherboard which we will not be using in this instance.

Maybe you can produce to 2 types of cables:
1. Dual-mode cable, 1 pcie split to 3 coaxial plug
2. scrypt-mode cable, 1 pcie may split to more than coaxial plugs since scrypt mode draws 7w only for a single device.
I have 20 gs miners and find the GS PSU from China unsafe, I would like to order some scrypt-mode cable and use regular PC PSU.

I think you should make your designs based on scrypt mode only... Gridseeds are vary unstable in dual mode, and most miners are only using scrypt mode anyway

I agree focus on scrypt only mode as far as your pwer load concerns I think using them to dual mine will be pointless in about 30 days anyway. TO bad we cant get them to just run off a USB cable in scrypt only mode the power draw is so low and the fan probably draws most of it and in scrypt mode these things dont even get warm
