@ADutchGamer - you read my mind. Smiley  Here is my modular cable design for ATX powering of gridseed miners.

Link: https://i.imgur.com/tw621Q4.jpg
IMG

You can see from the design that this setup allows for dual mode miners to run safely with only 3 plugs per PCIe and allows for expansion of up to 15 plugs for scrypt miners on a single PCIe connector from the PSU. It also works well for those with 10 units as it leaves a single plug free to power a 12V usb hub if needed.

I have pretty much finalized the design except for the actual lengths needed. I could really use some help on that from anyone who has these units. I need to know approximately how long 5 units are end to end similar to how they would be in a spotswood case and also how far apart the individual plugs on the units are (pitch).

I have been pointed to a manufacturing house and will be getting a quote in to them as soon as the BOM, final measurements and order tally are finished. Once that is done I should get the prototype for testing from them and have pricing for you guys. If you haven't already drop a message here or in PM about how many devices you will be powering so I can determine what size order to put in, thanks.

If you have any comments or questions please feel free.

Haha yeah and I will not discuss the things I saw there last night Tongue

I will probably be ordering these for at least 20 gridseeds so I'm curious about the (estimated)cost of sending these to the netherlands. (maybe make a list in the OP with estimations?)

As soon I as hear back from the my initiated quotes I will let you know what ball park we are in.

Tired of substandard power distribution in your ASIC setup???   Chris' Custom Cablez will get you sorted out right!  No job too hard so PM me for a quote

I would like to order enough for 60 miners in Scrypt mode (Just to help you gauge interest for BOM quantities)

I'm interested in 8 PCI-E to barrel modular cables.  Any idea on ETA after ordering?

Thanks

Just a rough estimation would be around 150 or so, based on scanning through the post. Hell, between myself, wasubii, and ADutchGamer there is 100 cables. You got some work ahead of you Cablez. Good luck!

Approx 12-inches from the PSU to the front miner.

Just throwing this out. Planning a multi level case to be used in a 4-post 19" server rack.

The first level will be the accessory section with stackable Gridseed levels. Haven't decided on 20 or 24 per Gridseed level.

Thanks for all the responses everyone.  As soon as I hear something back I will let you all know.

Thanks for the measurements Spotswood. I left a bit of extra on the cables for those that will have their own setups but i really like your compact design. And with 200W ish a shelf, that is easily dealt with.

@Cartman - That is another nice layout.  I would like to mention two things if you were to use the cables I am trying to build. The first is that your vertical side to side spacing might be a bit generous for the miners as the cable legs are specified at 14in/355mm per which gives a furthest end to end of about 20in/508mm for the five plug cable. Secondly, the wire cutouts for a cable design like this one would favor a central exit point to go between levels as its basically five equal legs joined in the center. No criticisms, just some thoughts.

Thanks...my original thought was to design with the 11PWR002-360W power supply in mind but looking at the sketch you drew up of the modular cables I can see what you mean.

Found this from liteningasic on the board. They are providing them for free on new and old orders from them. They look rather long. 3 plugs per PCIe.

Cablez, would rather buy from you...just thought you should know. I asked them for a cost but I don't know if they will sell them separate.

I have seen their offering and agree it is the safe option as their clientele could dual mode mine as well and three plugs would be the maximum per PCIe.  This is why I went the modular route so miners could decide which way they want to go and the cabling solution would be ready for either.

I have refined some points with the manf. house and am awaiting a final quote. I hopefully should hear something today.

I would like to put in a request for a Molex connector option. I have some old PSU's sitting around that would be perfect for scrypt only mining with a raspberry pi.

Cablez, are you planning to have strait or right angle plugs on the x5 extensions?

Current design is for straight plugs and I also altered them for 2.1mmID as well for a more snug fit as per the discussions around the gridseed threads.
