I suspect some people want to keep XMR rise at check so that BTC does not fall out of favor in the dark web.  Shocked

A more stable price will lead to more use, not less. Extreme volatility doesn't entice 'users', it scares them.  And BTC is already out of favor.

Impossible to avoid volatility when a currency is at some $100 million market cap and the markets it will be used in is larger.

The Bitcoin network protocol was designed to be extremely flexible. It can be used to create timed transactions, escrow transactions, multi-signature transactions, etc. The current features of the client only hint at what will be possible in the future.

It is 2 years old. Crypto and DW change so much in 2 years. You cannot rely on this article.

I don't know much about the dark side of crypto but this: the Monero market cap is too small to accommodate the dark markets like Bitcoin in the earlier days. This goes one way, we have precedent for this.

It is quite funny that nerds and criminals are the first ones to utilize new technology. The two are so unlike another.

I'm a bit afraid that the dev team made their cash and are not so much in business to develope the GUI.

I mean i could do this with java in 2 days. I dont unterstand whats their problem here...they have had now 2 years.

Another problem is that people get used to something. Look like whatsapp or facebook. They are used to use Bitcoin. As long that dealers on DN doesnt give discount its hard to make the people switch to XMR. Moreover the volatility atm is not so good for the coin. Dealers could loose 15% in 2 days. Thats not less.

But still, XMR is superior from every view. Only the people around/behind it are sometimes the problem.

So solve this:

GUI
Make XMR to a prefered currency

Alphabay did its job, now its on the people.

That is the EXACT opposite.

Java is not setup per default in every OS. So it should be written in c++ -what still doesnt need 2 years.

i2p's router uses Java, seems to be just fine. Also I'll make your life easier, here's a Monero GUI already written in Java: https://github.com/jwinterm/LightWallet2

So just take that and add to it - looking forward to your release of the massively improved version on Wednesday evening!

You still don't get the point...maybe you dont understand or you dont want. NVM. Still the fact that a GUI by the core dev. is still missing. They only provide a simplewallet without a gui. You can ignore it, doesnt matter, as long as i know the facts for myself Smiley

perhaps you guys can work together? faster, better, stronger..
in all fairness it is a bit strange even in cryptoland that a coin that's been around for 2 years doesn't have an official GUI yet. Can't blame a person wondering about that.
The reason in the past for not having an official GUI was that the devs are too busy on the core. Would be great if there were more people interested in helping monero move forward and upward!

What do you mean "the core dev"? Which of the 127 developers is "the core dev"? https://www.openhub.net/p/monero/contributors

Also, the lightWallet2 developer *is* a Monero developer, here's his most recent pull request: https://github.com/monero-project/monero/pull/1053

Monero finally shows some signs of correction.
Short is running good so far.  Smiley
But I still see some potential for going down before building some resistence.

I can smell the bull attack. I suppose around Wednesday/Thursday we will see a significant rise up to the 0,020´s
If you hold some Moneroj bought around the 0,0175´s you will have some profit. Everybody else, i hope you sold at the 0,026´s

I somehow believe this will be one of the last artificial bullruns, after that we would need some serious interest to keep up the price. I believe we will fall after the bullrun below the 0,010´s in a quite short timeframe...  Roll Eyes

Pullback was not unexpected, was hoping for more actually. Targeting the 0.013 range. I have many friends that are newly interested in Monero and that $10 CAD / Monero seems to be a psychological "sweet spot" for them. They are less interested above that level.

Long term outlook has not changed, Monero still has phenomenal break out potential.

Thats kinda stupid. Expecting monero at least above 90$ soon and than argue with 50 cent from 10,50 to 10 xD

What's kinda stupid?  I have 38.2 fib retrace at 0.0176 and the 61.8 retrace at 0.0120 so 0.013 wouldn't surprise me in the least. The recent  high at 0.0265 was ten times the price of just a couple of months ago and you expect it to just keep climbing?
