Pullback was not unexpected, was hoping for more actually. Targeting the 0.013 range. I have many friends that are newly interested in Monero and that $10 CAD / Monero seems to be a psychological "sweet spot" for them. They are less interested above that level.

Long term outlook has not changed, Monero still has phenomenal break out potential.

Thats kinda stupid. Expecting monero at least above 90$ soon and than argue with 50 cent from 10,50 to 10 xD

I think perhaps there is a communication breakdown here. At no time did I say I'm "Expecting monero at least above 90$ soon"

Currently Monero is above 13 dollars Canadian, all I'm saying is that I know people; living, breathing, actual people in the real world who are willing to put money in if the price drops back to ten bucks...

I'm extrapolating their enthusiasm to speculate that there may be others who feel the same way, and expanding on that, i am expecting some strong support at the 0.013 BTC level, which just happens to coincide with a CAD price of roughly ten dollars...

Hope that clears it up somewhat.

It's all good.  They'll FOMO later on, or buy some future dip.

Some modest but timely green shoots. A bottom @~0.016 would make a lot of sense considering the history on the chart and its starting to look like that's maybe what we saw @~0.0162. Cautiously optimistic.

OK, gotcha, these are the same friends and acquaintances that would not buy bitcoin when it was 2 dollars because they thought it was going to zero, would not buy at 10 dollars because it was going back to 2 dollars.  Now that I think about it that way, I'm starting to think that if it (Monero) were to drop back to ten bucks they would probably be saying "I'll wait till it gets back to 50 cents"...

keeping this in mind I have to accept the fact that Mainstream acceptance will always be a lagging indicator, perhaps even a solid sell signal?

It's all good.  They'll FOMO later on, or buy some future dip.

Point taken, I'm sure when the price is 25 dollars they will be clamoring to get in at 20.  Wink

don't worry about it. The road to success is littered with dead bodies from people who did not have the courage or the brain to think for themselves. It is sad, but these people are exactly the reason that some of us can have this success. One advice though, do not try to sell them your ideas about crypto/monero.  You will only hurt yourself. They will only start thinking when someone on TV talked about it, and even then only a small portion will act on it. Occationally you will find people with a brain though, concentrate on them only.

Let me quote one of the big sellers on AlphaBay

Quote
Well, I am almost 6 years strong supporter of Bitcoin and I would very glad to see bitcoin implementing Monero stealth features, which is very possible to do ! But when I am looking at decision makers in Bitcoin community in past year or two, where they can't even agree on scaling issues, where we are stuck on 7tx/s and full 1mb blocks with unconfirmed txs and raising fees, blocked with 50%+ majority of Chinese miners, these features will not come into BTC soon. So meanwhile it will be good to use also Monero.

Why ?

Because now, if we want to mix our coins, we need to deposit BTC into stealth exchange account, then buy (untraceable) altcoin, then deposit altcoin to our cashout exchange account and buy BTC, and finally sell for cash.

With Monero, you accept payment in Monero, deposit it into the cashout exchange, buy BTC, sell for fiat, done. It's faster, you don't need multiple accounts for deleting traces of crypto earnings. And I can see exchanges like kraken/bitstamp/coinbase catching soon on implementig XMR/FIAT pairs, because there will be demand and look how quick they implemented ETH & DAO pairs.

Moreover i also checked about monero in the market and the community.

The market is so so i would say. I'm just a cold analyst in that way. 40% of the Traders there accept Monero. Only very few give 10% discount at the moment.

There are already few users who complain already about the volatility at the moment.

If i had any contact with the alphabay owners i would advice to take no fee for monero to accelerate the transition from BTC to Monero. I guess with an good implementation of a GUI, maybe like Electrum BTC will be replaced by Monero. But its a way to go. The only think which makes me still skeptical are the people. As I said...when they are used to whatsapp(Bitcoin) the change is not easy. But i know whatsapp binding is far stronger by social reasons and monero is about security und speed.

Cheers

Edit:

I checked also out Stimulants -> 23171 offers. 560 accept Monero. Its only 2,41%

I'm a bit afraid that the dev team made their cash and are not so much in business to develope the GUI.

I mean i could do this with java in 2 days. I dont unterstand whats their problem here...they have had now 2 years.

Another problem is that people get used to something. Look like whatsapp or facebook. They are used to use Bitcoin. As long that dealers on DN doesnt give discount its hard to make the people switch to XMR. Moreover the volatility atm is not so good for the coin. Dealers could loose 15% in 2 days. Thats not less.

But still, XMR is superior from every view. Only the people around/behind it are sometimes the problem.

So solve this:

GUI
Make XMR to a prefered currency

Alphabay did its job, now its on the people.

Please link us to your GUI to test in two days okay?

Thanks ahead of time.

Aloha!

It's hard not to be disconcerted about the lack of a GUI after more than two years. I know it's coming "soonish", as it has been for 1+ years. However, at this point it's certainly holding back adoption at a time when adoption is poised to explode.

Got a pull request?  Complaining accomplishes nothing.  I think everyone understands the situation.  If you can't contribute code, your dev fund contribution is quite welcome.

I have contributed to the dev fund. Can you please direct me to the thread where I can speculate about how the lack of basic UI features may affect the price? Perhaps a Monero speculation thread?

I understand the GUI gripes are tiresome (here's looking at you, N-rG). The "Fuck you. Go code a GUI." responses are getting old too.

In an open source project, your two choices to make things happen are (1) write it, or (2) pay someone to write it. That's it, end of story, nothing left to discuss.

If you don't want an annoying response, quit repeating annoying posts.

You dont get the point even when its so obvious. We discuss about the price development here and this is also connected to an easy, working and official GUI. So its NOT about the GUI, it IS about the price related with the GUI. When you say Tesla needs a better battery technologie to have a better coverage which makes them selling more cars and raising their shares it is you who says "then develope new battery". You got it Wink ?

What you don't get is that this project is not about the "price" - not todays' price, yesterday's price or tomorrow's price.

It's still open source. Your argument simply falls flat here, sorry. Tongue

Also, it's now off-topic IMO.

Where do you get 1+ years from?

We'd never have said it's "coming soon" until Ilya started working on it, and at ~10 hours a week for 28 weeks nobody was going to suggest that Ilya would have anything remotely workable earlier this year. People have a horrible habit of misreading, or inferring their own hopes, and then you end up with skewed expectations.

Please explain how people buying Monero on Poloniex enriches me, or hyc, or any of the other developers? I'm certainly not selling my small stash of Monero, neither is anybody else. It's absurd that you think this is like a company - buying Monero on Poloniex only enriches two people: yourself and Poloniex. To everyone that has worked on the project your purchase is entirely inconsequential, and it is downright insulting that you compare a rise in Tesla's share price to this situation.

You have no idea how open-source development works.

Sorry mate i re-read what i wrote and i got why you are upset...i expressed me wrong. I didnt want to say that all you guys got cashed out. But maybe something should cashed out to maybe hire some GUI developers. What i actually just meant is that a GUI is needed so far i can read in some communities and from the pov of an investor in monero. When its just about the spirit...then ofc it can take as much time as needed Wink

What fluffy is saying, is that anyone could have taken on the GUI in the last 2 years... but no one even pitched it, even though he also could have been rewarded like Ilya with Funds from the Forum Funding System... the incentive was there! all the time.... yet no one took it.
