Monero does what no other anonymous coins can do and
I do mean ALL of them. Once we have the GUI wallet, I think we will
probably cross the .01 threshod within months. And I am not sure
dash will be able to maintain its price then.

I heard the backdoor slam as the Dasholes left the building yesterday, they couldn't take another day of gains for Monero.  I can remember the days not so long ago the Dash/Dark people were over here trashing Monero.  Their volume has gone low and the price has been dropping.  Pre-Mine scam coins do that in the long run.

Prior speculation about Dash market cap leaking into Monero looks more legitimate every day.

Pity the poor DashHoles.  They had such great hopes for Livecoin (the Russian scam exchange) and Exmo (their newest scam exchange).

And the Evan's Gate cargo cult truly believed CNY pairs on Bitfinex/BTC38 would lift their scam's outlook back to the heady days of Darkcoin hype.

Alas, 'twas not to be.  Anyone who wanted Darkcoins bought them years ago, and nobody wants the post-hamfisted-rebrand Dash trash.

The funny thing is that now matter how bad the charts get and how low the volume slumps, DashHole cheerleaders always post rosy predictions about incoming pumps.   Cheesy

And despite all the whining about Poloniex ('zomg it's not fair you can short Dash, zomg Polo favors Evil Monero, boo hoo hoo!'), almost no volume has moved away from there.

You are funny  Grin

I meant something like this

This site can’t provide a secure connection

The client and server don't support a common SSL protocol version or cipher suite. This is likely to be caused when the server needs RC4, which is no longer considered secure.

The site has a decent comodo certificate as my site also does.
Maybe you should install the comodo root certificates and then it should not be any problem.

These certificates are issued by comodo and cost somewhat €10,- a year  Grin Cheesy

Some browsers have dropped support for the deprecated RC4 algorithm.  They do this in part to pressure you to change your cert, because of RC4 vulnerability exploits.  I think letsencrypt.org provides free certs, but haven't used it myself.

Monero 0.9.3 binaries got released, upgrading my nodes.

https://github.com/monero-project/bitmonero/releases/tag/v0.9.3

Information from Github:

This has urgent and important bug fixes to 0.9.2 Hydrogen Helix

  • Urgent bug fix for database corruption issues in 0.9.2
  • Official Windows 32-bit releases are back
  • Updates to miniupnpc
  • Sets v3 fork date for September, 2016
  • Fixes core tests and re-enables them
  • Fixes a problem with --password-file not working in RPC mode

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

General hardfork information:

Background:

https://forum.getmonero.org/4/academic-and-technical/303/a-formal-approach-towards-better-hard-fork-management

Quote
What are the change(s) with the upcoming hard fork on the 20th of March?

  • Blocktime is bumped from 1 to 2 minutes. See:

https://forum.getmonero.org/20/general-discussion/2401/increasing-the-block-time

  • Minimum blocksize is bumped to 60 KB. See:

https://forum.getmonero.org/20/general-discussion/2409/increasing-the-minimum-block-size

A big advantage of this is that current individual transactions that sometimes won't go through (because they are a bit above the median due to many outputs (e.g. dust), or the daemon / MyMonero rejects them for some reason) can easily be included in the block without incurring a penalty. Above is a bit of a blunt explanation, I am sure one of the core-team members / developers could give you a more detailed explanation.

  • Finally, the recommendations from the MRL team stated in MRL-0004, of which the minimum mixin >= 3 is probably the most salient. See:

https://lab.getmonero.org/pubs/MRL-0004.pdf

P.S. Due to variance the hard fork will likely be on the 21th or 22th of March. A specific block height was determined for the hardfork, not a specific date. The specific blockheight for the hardfork can be found here:

https://github.com/monero-project/bitmonero/blob/master/src/cryptonote_core/blockchain.cpp#L83

Quote
// version 2 starts from block 1009827

P.P.S. As long as you are on any 0.9.x version in advance of the hardfork you are fine.

Looking into the future, events almost never play out the way they think we will.  Sometimes things turn out better, sometimes worse, but often they play out in unexpected ways.

Totally subscribe that. Everytime somebody does a prediction, I know automatically is cancelled to happen. The more people predicting something, the more the reality blends into unexpected outputs.

Bubbles always happen when nobody expect them.

The overexpected halving x2 price won´t happen. You can mark my words. It would be or way more north than 800$/BTC or 400 stagnated and/or sunk. I would say the most improbable mix of both.

I predict the price will move up and down.

Just an fyi, I downloaded the Windows 32-bit binaries from scratch (almost, I was starting from 9.1% complete), and got kicked off again from my peer connections when I left it going over night.

It's alright though, I'm looking to upgrade my OS to a 64 bit on Ubuntu... and hopefully this will clear up some issues I'm currently having with my computer.

Expect Monero to reach 0.005 sometime before April. Where it goes from there is dependent on development variables.

Still in operation.

I agree with this. Now is excellent opportunity to jump in as we got this occasional dip.

It sure is not minergate.com (and some other pools). Please move to a different pool because they still did not upgrade! Hopefully the miners (or botnet owner?) quickly realize that they do not receive any block rewards anymore and move shortly after to one of the many other available pools.

But I for sure am looking forward, have the count down timer open all the time:

Interesting to watch the gyrations on the order book (poloniex).  ~300 BTC pulled from bids (or filled?) while I slept, and 100K+ XMR removed from offered loans.  I had none repaid (.5 - 1%) with this dip (yay Grin  ), and there are still significant amounts available below that level.  I spend way too much time watching this stuff.  Good thing I've got a job starting up next week  Tongue
