do you guys think that BTCP (co-fork of ZCL and BTC) could have any impact on Monero? By impact I mean BTC holders that want to invest in a privacy coin could potentially prefer BTCP to Monero due to its name

People calling 267 failing are weird.

Its comfortably above any kind of hold/sell level of the past. And we been around that to 28 for weeks.

I feel so unworried, I don't get it.

Someone mentioned this before and it was eyeopening for me. It's all about what price you bought in at. You and I glob probably bought in at single or double digit prices. It's easy for us to just sit back, relax and ignore the screaming children. But its different for people who paid 300 400 or heaven forbid almost 500 dollars.
But nowadays you don't just add a few dozens of Monero to your portfolio anymore, at least not me..
that does not make any sense

its not about the moneros you add but about how much you are willing to stake.

previous movements shouldnt be a concern of yours. either you buy in and take the risk or you dont. that was no different when the price was lower.

2019 is my earliest target anyway.

Just look at the emissions curve, then consider the features in the pipeline. Etc.

There was an article on zerohedge this morning about how robinhood has more than a million people on their waiting list to use their soon to be crypto trading platform. It's looking like this could be almost another coinbase worth of fresh capital coming into the sector.

Rep Thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=381041
If one can not confer upon another a right which he does not himself first possess, by what means does the state derive the right to engage in behaviors from which the public is prohibited?

This is assuming it gets broader usage than just the 5 states.

Yea, It's kind of a joke right now.  They currently do not allow depositing BTC or any Crypto.  I don't know where "they" get them to trade...

Come back with some details.  How much premine? how much dev/marketing etc tax?  what emission curve?  Rich list? default privacy or opt-in? how large/active development team? How many actual full time cryptographers employed?  What company is backing it?  People 'investing' in it because of its name have little money, or soon will.  Looks like yet another (#30?) cash grab bitcoin fork, but I couldn't be bothered to waste my time looking it up.  Impact on Monero?  a small boost once a small percentage salvage a small part of their 'investment' and move it to Monero.  The con-men running the show will likely put profits to Monero also before they abandon their fork salad.

Add:

Since I tripped over it, I'll share this tidbit:

Wow.  Seems like yesterday I was wondering if we'd ever be able to hold above 20 for any length of time  Grin

https://chainradar.com/xmr/chart   looks like a spike to 1GH/s the other day.

Does that mean that even Monero is not the most profitable mining coin, people wants it OR does it means that it is the most profitable coin for botnets, malware mining, etc?

I felt XMR can be next to ETH instead of LTC or Dash . as XMR grow day by day as the way ETH does !
so i preferred to Buy XMR instead of buying other altcoin like LTC or Dash !

Happy Trading

Everyone is talking about regulations right now. I think this year, the main focus is going to be about regulations. Lots of people doesn't like it at all maybe we will see more people using Monero than Bitcoin in the near future. The market is crashing very hard right now but I guess it's a good opportunity to fill your bag with cheap anonymous coins. I think it's going to be worse in March, lots of European countries plan to regulate crypto. It would be great if one day 1 monero equal 1 ether.
