As For people having problems with the NXT Wallet.
I have noticed that for everything to work properly I need to.
Load and log into the wallet.
Load the local wallet via web browser localhost:7876
If I don't use the webbrowser I miss functionality like contacts list and distribution information on assets.
I'm about to do the new NRS update. So if I find any quirks I'll post how I ironed them out.

I'll add to Ian's post that it's important to have the newest version installed as found at the NXT download page I linked earlier. I was unintentionally trying to download the blockchain with outdated (but still new-ish) version 1.4.5 when I should have had the 1.4.6 executable (that still identifies as 1.4.5 until the block chain is finished :\) -- New Offers

All this DVC stuff confuses me. So, a DVC is what? An asset that lives inside the NXT blockchain? There's fixed number of those and more cannot be made?

Hey, Mike!
Distributed-Vault Coin is a thriving experiment in several things. (Check indiamikezulu.com.au)
Firstly, its value: each DVC is backed by two ounces of silver that has been Verified as held by a Trusted Trader here on Un-Ex -- a 'distributed vault.' This provides a coin whose price is 'anchored' outside the crypto realm. Detail to follow; but . . . 'Btc/Uno up, DVC down. And vice versa.'
DVC are traded exclusively by us here on our exchange. Holders will be rewarded because they represent the active core community of this coin.
Secondly, it's part of a fundamentally different approach to coining that IndiaMikeZulu takes:
the community is ultimately the thing. (Gotta have a superlative coin -- check; but the real fun and money comes from the community's trust-network.)
We launched an in-house exchange. It now has 22 Trusted Traders. Unobtanium folk understand that large chunks of coin can be sold 'into' strong hands here. No fee. Un-hackable.
Then we launched DVC. Explaining it, and wrassling with its wallet (Nxt. DVC is an asset.), has taken a little effort. But it's now thriving:
8 traders; more coming; 16 coins in circulation; 42 oz. of silver in the 'distributed vault'; consistently trades at a premium.
A bunch of related stuff -- particularly peer-to-peer trading in 'national chapters' (begun in Australia with Uno, $AU, and bulllion) -- is underway. I hope that this will include 'equity DVC' in a few months: large-ish sums of Uno will be 'frozen,' and DVC issued on their behalf. After that, I want to figure out if a chunk of Genesis can be 'Verified' as an asset, and DVC issued on its ticket.
Mike, do a few trades here. Get a 'TT Rating.' Scrape up $80 worth of bullion (4 oz. silver or equivalent). Get 'Verified.' Set up an Nxt wallet. Be issued with 2 DVC.
