Hi,
I changed to solo mining 10 days ago....today i checked status and noticed my antminer lost connection multiple times: main is solo at port 3333 failover is on port 443
My question: does my miner or the pool remember the work on the not yet found block or does it start at 0 work again?

There's no work to "remember" in solo mining. You just mine when you're online, and you don't when you don't. It's like scratching scratch-off tickets. You're either pulling tickets and scratching or you're not. |

i am the infamous orphan. The only one this pool has ever known. Unloved and alone on christmas.  That orphan was my 3rd block on this pool within a month or so and it marked the change in my luck. That was 1 month 13 days ago and i have tried everyday to get my block back that was stolen by the chinese... Spent all 50 of my bitcoins i received from the earlier blocks chasing it. You can only hit a block when you least expect it and when you dont need the money. The more you want it, need it, the more elusive it is.... Merry Christmas all!!! |

Just found this, can't believe Ive gone this long without seeing this thread lmao. I'll be pointing my old s1 at this pool as soon as I reach the payout min at my current pool lol (with an s1 who knows how long that might be)

China/HK server is currently offline without any explanation from the VPS provider. Awaiting on a support ticket, though there was almost no one mining on that node.
Looks like another DDoS  Not sure why I'm being targeted lately but it is what it is. Luckily the Hong Kong node had hardly any miners. Make sure you have backups in case the other nodes get attacked too. |

Why DDOS us when there are infinite other IMHO places more deserving Other than plain maliciousness, does it come down to numbers e.g. I can shut down these sites because I have control of more bots than they have server capacity as opposed to something like citicorp where I don't and can have no real effect except for keeping a few ticked off folks working overtime on christmas day? Why? I want to know why. And if it is about 'bots', how do I know if I'm not one of them? |

Run wireshark and look for fragmented packets being sent from your network. Or tons of ICMP packets. |

Glad I found this thread. I just got through moving all my miners (no, not a bunch...I generate maybe 3Th/s right now, but growing) over to solo.ckpool as the primary, and Slush (which had been primary) to failover yesterday afternoon, intending to run solo for a few weeks and just see what happens. Then the site goes down...wouldn't have known until I looked except that one of the S3s (I call it Dopey) beeped at me exactly three times very early this morning (Hawaii); when I went to check, found all miners had gone failover. That's cool, though, I guess. They did what they were supposed to. I'll check here periodically until it can be renewed.
EDIT
Not sure if it's considered kosher, but I'm gonna switch my miners over to the DE site until the US site is back up. I'm in a unique situation here and don't want to waste any time solo mining prior to June. Input is welcome...and Merry Christmas to all, and thanks to CK.
