Why do people hate islam?

It’s not the sentiment that bothers me - I, like many Muslims, have grown used to the unceasing stream of vitriol directed at Islam, Muslims, our scripture, and our prophet. What got to me was the audacity of this individual.

Rather than always playing the victim card, you needs to analyze why there is so much hatred directed against the Muslims. Islam is not the only foreign religion in the west. There are Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists and even Animists. None of them face any issues from the native population.

Lots of people discriminate and bully instead of peace , love and understanding. And i dont hate islam i love them because they become my friends on my school , can we erase that isalm bring war , they bring peace and happiness though.

Well, I believe the reason people hate Islam is because they do not understand it. Muslims used to be very respected and trusted people, but honestly our behavior recently has been less-than-perfect. When examining Islam we need to separate the Muslim from Islam. Islam is the way of life Muslims follow. The word Muslim is a noun, much like a person that Runs is a Runner. Now, even if a person is a bad Runner, it does not mean that Running is bad, just that they are not a good Runner. In this way, we believe Islam is perfect. Many these days over-complicate this religion. When Muhammad (SAwS) told his messengers to spread the word he told them to explain about the one-ness of God, and if they accept that, THEN move on into the other topics of prayer, etc. But these days many try to over-complicate our religion with the small details, and miss the bigger-picture.

I do not hate any religion. The problem with people, they do not respect each other's differences and beliefs. Some of them hate because it's different from theirs. I do not see any problem with Islam. Actually, teachings are good. People are just the problem.

Muslims who can think a little hate Islam. They hate it because some of the words of the Koran tell them to betray friends who say something against Islam, even if it is only by accident. So, a Muslim can never be sure He is safe from his own religion. That's why he hates it.

I don't think people hate Islam in the real sense, they hate the way some people practice their faith and call it islam. Every religious sect has it's fair share of extremists but in recent times, a lot of attention is being paid to the islamic sect because some people have made it their life's work to terrorize other hiding under islam. When people see that they just assume the religion is bad. My late grandma was a muslim and a peaceful one

I think what you meant to say was why people hate and blame islam for bad things that happened in this world, such as bombing, terrorist attack, etc. It wasn't like that. The bad guys just happen to be islam and they are bad. That simple. But since we as human are too judgemental, we often judge people by their cover without knowing the inside. I hate the people, their attitude, their character but never hate their religion. Each religion is beautiful. Each religion always taught us to love, care and treat about each other equally.

This thread caught my eye and of course I won't read through it, but I want to offer my opinion.

I don't "hate islam" but I do "hate" deception and deceptive people.

In islam there is this act called taqiyya which is basically permission from the holy book to lie -- so right out of the gate when dealing with a muslim, you're dealing with a potential liar.

Islam also changed the culture of Iran in recent times, and has turned its people into liars... This is evident when comparing individuals whose parents fled iran during the revolution to their counterparts whose parents could not flee.  The western individuals are much more honest and trustworthy compared to their iranian counterparts. The reason is how deception is part of the way of life in islamic countries (the revolution made Iran "muslim" and so everyone had to form their deception skills... their deception skill is so well-tuned that they don't even know they've become serial liars, lying about the dumbest shit). It's really sad, but I think taqiyya and simply not valuing honesty and integrity are corrupting aspects of Islam and is a key reason why Islam needs to be kept at bay.

Because of sharia law. Because of jihad. Because being a woman in a Muslim country is horrible. What's not to hate?

The people don't hate Muslims, for the most of them don't even know what it is. It is just a built enemy in order to legitimatize invasions and wars against some other people which aren't even Muslims, by the way.
If you point out something and convince the people for it to be the enemy, the worst thing in the face of the earth and then you describe them towards a religion, then the sheep will follow. The people need an enemy. They don't want to see their own rulers as an enemy, so they make another one. And, of course, if you convince a country's population about the idea of a thread, even when it is based on a big lie, or have no arguments, they will see the government as the great protector, and all the military spent as something "necessary"...
So no, people do not hate Muslims, they just have been brainwashed.
