Sorry - no idea what you mean.
Probably best to come to discord to discuss it.

When you first create an account it is PPLNS
Help->Solo explains the requirements to change an account to Solo

If your account is stuck on PPLNS, then yep you missed the requirements written on Help->Solo
In that case, after reading Help->Solo, create another account (with a different BTC payout address) and switch that to solo.

Sorry, nope, your account is pplns - it didn't change to solo.
The web site tells you that it failed to change to solo and why it failed.

You missed the line on Help->Solo that says you can't change an account after mining on it in PPLNS.

Edit: also, when you login, it says in bold red on the top left what type of account you have.

Except for slow USB stick miners you do not need to set difficulty. The pool takes care of that automatically.

Except for slow USB stick miners you do not need to set difficulty. The pool takes care of that automatically.
Though, I would suggest he set them anyway, since they are high hash rate miners.

I set all my miners to 42000 so they don't get a rush of low diff shares when they first connect.

Yes the pool will switch it up almost immediately, but, alas it tells the miners to use the default 8190 before it switches them up.

You'll see the value they settle at on the Workers->Workers page, which will be a lot higher than 8190,
so setting their default higher helps with the initial connect.
Checking mahdi13709's page - they are all mining above 60000, so a start of 40000-50000 would work well.

For PPLNS, it makes no difference to your rewards, but does mean the initial connect will be smoother;
and on Solo the one share you are looking for will be higher anyway Smiley

Again this only makes sense if they are high hash rate miners.

What are the reasons to handle the change to solo with these restrictions?

What are the reasons to handle the change to solo with these restrictions?
Well next change I do, you'll need to have your account verified and a payout address on both
types.

Verified is obvious - if you don't verify your email you could have one that doesn't work or you
mistyped it (which happens on occasion) so if someone else logs into your account,
coz they got your password from various mistakes people make,
and changes the payout address, you wouldn't get the notification
- and you'd not get any other account change notifications

A payout address is obvious, especially on solo where it's a lot of BTC for anyone who finds a block.
I'm not a bank, I don't want your BTC, so if you get a block on solo, I send it to the payout address,
and thus I don't need to find someone and get their info
e.g. block 847367 I have no idea who they are, never chatted with them, and no info about them except
their email and payout address, so I didn't need to go find them and harass them for a payout address,
they already had one (as per required)

The no-mining is simple, it completely avoids the problem of me having to deal with someone
changing their account after mining a pplns block and expecting me to pay the whole block to them.
Your account type is obvious - bold red, top left when you login.

The current 'switch' was to make it easy to add the option at the time I implemented it.
Next changes, you'll select the account type when you create the account and can never change it.
It will have the restriction that you have to verify your account and set a payout address before mining works,
so effectively the same in that regard.

Thank you, that shows the difference between just using it and implementing it.
I think the new changes are more straightforward.
