Still waiting for a dual miner... . . .

Not sure why none of the Nvidia developers are interested in this. Nvidia has a lot of headroom available due to its shitty performance on Dagger. Even more so as it appears that Pascal performs like crap on Dagger as well. This is a big deal.

I buy private Nvidia miners. Send information and/or inquiries to my PM box.

TOO EARLY FOR PASCAL--

The best, manufacturer-tweaked and modded Pascal cards are not even on the market yet.  Unless you are a developer or you want an original edition card as a collector's item, it is too soon to buy.  People like sp_, djm34, tpruvot need to discover the best code for the new chipset, and manufacturers need to optimize the electronics for best performance.

It will be 6 months to a year or more before adjustments are made.  Too soon to buy in just now for a miner.       --scryptr

We need a modded driver.  1-5MHASH @etherum on the 1080 is a joke.

we still have 27MH on the 1070, even with the best drivers, without that fix for the trashing you will not be able to reach 40MH

http://cryptomining-blog.com/

Windows 7 is getting 1 MHASH.

Windows 10 is getting 5 MHASH.

With the fix you get same speed as on linux.

Around 24MHASH for the 1080 and 27MHASH for the 1070

There will be a TLB page size fix. Hopefully it works for Maxwell, too  Grin

But if it will bring random memory access performance of 1080 above 1070? I doubt it.

As I mentioned, this is why a dual miner is definitely needed now. Even more overhead available for mining another GPU intensive algo.

As I mentioned, this is why a dual miner is definitely needed now. Even more overhead available for mining another GPU intensive algo.

A dual miner is completely out of the question for me as long as this issue is not resolved. If there's any GPU mining during the time of Pascal, it'll most likely be ETH. And if it's not that, it'll be some other memory hard algo, because the concept seems to have proven itself lately. Nobody is going to mine ETH at a meagre 5MH/s and pay off the electricity bill with some DCR or what other compute-bound (read: prone to FPGA and ASIC implementation) altcoin on the side, and then still donate me generously for it  Grin.

As vaulter has mentioned various times, a fix will very likely come in the shape of WDDM 2.1, which supports 2 and 8MB (and another one) TLB page sizes in addition to the 4 and 64KB we already have with WDDM 2.0. ethminer works better on Win10 than on previous versions because of the 64KB page size support WDDM 2.0 already has. Why it performs under 1MH on Win7/8 (bit like GM107 on Win8) is a mystery to me, apparently a new driver to partially fix that is also in the making.

I finally gave in to the constant Win 10 upgrade nagging today and boy is this slow hashing annoying. I refuse to downgrade my GPU driver, so I'll most likely end up developing on Linux until a fix is there. And then I still need a 1070.

There are almost no algos that are nearly as memory hard as Eth. Neoscrypt is like the next closest thing and it uses about half the MCU on a 970.

Other algos still generate profit. In this case, you mine another coin and use Eth to cleanup the leftover available memory bandwidth, not the other way around. No one says Eth has to be the primary coin you're mining, it's just another combination.

Thanks Genoil, I prefer Linux myself, so Linux dev work is much appreciated!  I haven't posted before, but I've read for months as I've moved through several different rigs.

Yeah, the most popular algos right now look like they're running like poop on the 1xxx series due to the memory issues (specifically dagger and neoscrypt) and lack of optimizations.

Based on gaming performance there is probably room for like a 30% improvement on the 1080.

Guess it's waiting another two weeks for the 480. -_-

simply put ...

a great many serious miners will only work with linux ( with the exception of a few large miners ) ...

the rest use windows due to the 'hobby' state the mining industry is in ...

im perplexed by the distributions of binaries - and the lack of support for linux ...

btw sp - i have NOT received ANYTHING from you TO DATE regarding ANY miner since you distribute to the 'donors' those many months ago ...

quite pathetic really - when this is the way you treat the one donor that has donated more than most ...

is it any wonder ive stopped coming here - let alone donating ANYTHING to you ...

trust plays a MASSIVE part in this industry mate - and you have lost a great deal of it from me ... unless you rectify the lack of due care to your donors - then you will have nothing but some optimized code that you privatize and grow your farm with - and a reputation that is scarred for the life of crypto ...

remember who helped you build that farm - and the miner - with all the testing and work and time out of OUR lives to work WITH you ... thats right - the community and the devs that actually CODED the work you optimize ...

respect for the work - losing respect for the man that is sp ...

you want evolution mate? ... wait till you see the project we are working on now ...

hopefully a few months away - and you will realize that the bums you kick today - will be the ones you kiss tomorrow ... and kick yourself for not being part of 'theteam' which ive put togther for this to happen ...

at least MY WORD never gets retracted ...

as for the multi-1080 machines for testing ... we will be forthcoming with those systems soon enough - but for now - im collecting the 980ti systems australia wide for thefarm ...

I support linux. Just use Wine. You need  driver that came later than the cuda 7.5 toolkit.

A driver from september 2015 or later

That is absolute BS. Don't try overstating your position to get preferential treatment.

There isn't a lot of support for nix exactly because demand is quite low. This is like wondering why more games don't support nix. It's not worth their time.
