I just have the one miner hooked up to the computer's USB port.  It has never lasted through the night, every morning it is no longer hashing.   Other than today, it's only went Zombie one other time, usually when "it's not hashing" it just sits there showing 120 MH/s or 250 MH/s on cgminer and zero hashrate at the pool.

Between all the downtime and the low hashrate, I'm averaging 18.33 GH/s per day on this device.

I agree that it sounds like a software issue.  I think the driver and/or the cgminer fork need more work.

EDIT:  Just went ZOMBIE again, right after I made this post.  Restarted cgminer and it never found the device, restarted computer same deal.  Changed the Baud rate from .65 back to 1, ran cgminer, still nothing.  Pulled USB and Power Cord then plugged power then USB back in, ran cgminer again, now is hashing back away at 40 GH/s.   That lasted about 10 minutes.  For some reason, ever since I changed the settings to 0800 and 1306 and .65, it won't run for more than 10 minutes without going zombie, even though I changed the settings back to what it was sort of working on before.  I've just unplugged the miner for now.  I'm going to try and install it on one of my other computers tomorrow to see if that makes a difference before I give up on this device and Bitmain forever.

another thing i forgot to mention that you could try is got to control panel > power options > change plan settings > change advanced power settings > USB settings and make sure that usb selective suspend is disabled. See if it still goes zombie.

Thanks I changed the setting and it is running (so far), I'll see in the morning if it is still running, if not I'm doing a fresh install on another PC.

I just got mine ordered off eBay too and i'm having difficulties.  I was able to get and correctly install the right drivers, but still haven't gotten it to work. I see the command line going around has helped a lot of people...  I hate to ask a total n00b question here, but how and where do I go about entering that command information in CGminer?  I'm not too families with theses things yet, but I've been learning a ton lately and have been controlling my other usb miner with BFGminer on Slush.  Any help greatly appreciated here.

right click on cgminer.exe and go to Create Shortcut

right click on the shortcut, and go to properties

Go to the shortcut tab, then where it says "Target" put in all the info such as pool name and config parameters.

Instead of cgminer.exe - Shortcut, I set mine to be "Cgminer.exe - Pool Name" so I can have a shortcut for each pool I want to try out

Bitmain's cgminer can be downloaded here https://bitmaintech.com/files/download/cgminer-run-windows-20141027.rar it is the only mining program that supports U3 at the moment. Once you extract the cgminer, make TEXT FILE in that folder and rename it cgminer.bat then right click on it and choose edit. then copy and paste this command line there (cgminer.exe --bmsc-options 115200:0.65 -o POOL:PORT -u USER -p PASS --bmsc-voltage 0800 --bmsc-freq 1306)
Ofcourse change the POOL to your mining pool PORT to the pool port USER to your username in that pool and PASS to the password. Start cgminer from the newly created cgminer.bat file. It will run the command and start mining.
Let me know if that helped

Hey guys, thanks so much for the help. I'm not there yet, but now one step closer in the right direction. I created the .bat file, but then i couldn't get CGminer to start from it (open the .txt file with CGminer?) Then, i used that code to try the shortcut method again, and it worked this time!  CGminer opened and responded, but it still isn't hashing. It seems to be caught in a loop where it: sends votage, ok, send golden nonce, bmsc golden nonce timeout...other stuff spaming... then
Bitmain detect <5:3>  failed to initialize.<incorrect device?>

So still nothing. So far i've only tried it with Slush's Pool and a few other here mentioned having issues on Slush with this as well; might that be it?  I'm done for tonight, but i'll be back at this tomorrow!  Thanks for the help so far.

Just a preliminary post, "BUT" I may know why these things aren't hashing correctly and I don't think it has anything to do with the chips or power.

Can you give us more information?

Here is a copy of my cgminer screen.

Code:
 cgminer version 4.6.1 - Started: [2014-11-17 23:44:37]

 0: AMU 0       :                |        | 55.30G / 56.01Gh/s WU:782.5/m

It has been a very long long night.   I have seen spikes of near 65GH/s with the following start command and replacing of the Power with a bigger brick.   That was a snap shot of about 10 minutes running.

Command Line Args:
Code:
--bmsc-options 115200:0.65 --bmsc-freq 0D82 --bmsc-voltage 0850

I wouldn't recommend this for others just yet.  Also if anyone knows a better one to reach what was promised please let me know but for now this is stable.  I will attempt to post video's and Picture's tomorrow to show what lengths I had to go through to get this to work.  Granted the base components are 1x120mm Fan, 1 Gridseed Power Connector, 1 "Cincinnati Tool CO." C-Clamp, and the corner of my table for now.  I am hoping to find some components tomorrow to redesign the bottom half of the case tomorrow.  Yes this is where I believe the entire problem is.  But like I said I will dig a bit more tomorrow.

Also if Bitmain has anymore then just coupon's that I can't use to give me, please let me know.  (I don't spend BTC for mining equipment...  USD ONLY....) to add please do?  Also added name here to name there.  I got 1 from minersource.net.  You will see what I want to order in my cart.

When is Bitmain going to merge U3 support into the main CGMiner? The CGminer that supports U3 does NOT work with my Rockminer!
As per all previous bitmain hardware, they have slapped together a driver as quickly as they possibly can making for a mess of code that doesn't merge into mainline cgminer, and they haven't approached us about either getting our help, merging their code, or providing hardware for us to fix the driver for them. Someone else will probably send us some hardware and we'll eventually write our own driver is what normally happens (and bound to happen again).

Not sure if this is the right thread for this anymore...

I got CGMiner compiling on OSX and per the suggestions above for settings ran it with:

Code:
./cgminer --bmsc-options 115200:1 --bmsc-voltage 0720 --bmsc-freq 0782

And this is the output:

--bmsc-freq 0D82 is setted at a large frequency. You shall modify '0D82' to '0982' which is the max frequency for U3.

This is pathetic! I can't believe Bitmain would release a product with no solid instructions or mining software to support it.

Maybe if we all email bitmain asking for an Rpi image for the U3 that works they would post one (and for anyone not planning to use an Rpi we could always deconstruct it if we know the cg version used).
I have tried everything I could think of using the settings designed for the new chip. I am now going through options settings for the old ones to see if any work (i.e. icarus options with amu setting etc.)
So far no luck with anything.                                        Huh

Waiting on engineer (currently 8am).

While I appreciate your attempt to help, the link you are offering is exactly what I have been using for days now and still can't get this thing to run for more than a few seconds before it Zombie's out.
I am running the miner under Windows 7 using the Bitmain cgminer version from that link. I have reinstalled all drivers multiple times. (which is why I am now trying to compile an Rpi image that works before I just give up and sell my U3's on ebay)

i have had best luck with this command about 45GH/s but not even close to 63GH/s as advertised "hassle free setup" not really
cgminer.exe --bmsc-options 115200:1 -o stratum+tcp://us1.ghash.io:3333 -u user -p password --bmsc-voltage 0750 --bmsc-freq 0882

can anyone let me know how to mine with multiple u3 in the same cgminer

Please set like this   ./cgminer --bmsc-options 115200:1 --bmsc-voltage 0755 --bmsc-freq 0782
The voltage is too low, should at least 0725(turn to Readme)
For the issue about mining multiple U3 in the same cgminer, please connect the USB cable of each U3 into the same PC, or use the same USB hub, connected and run cgminer. Please noted that connection order must be - plug one side of 12V AC/DC power brick into U3, and plug the other side into AC input. Then, connect U3 and the computer via the USB line.

^^^ Thats a BITMAIN engineer.

Following the instructions provided above with a fresh compile of CGMiner from: https://github.com/bitmaintech/cgminer I still get an abort:

Code:
 [2014-11-14 07:56:45] ---------------------start voltage----------------------
 [2014-11-14 07:56:45] Send voltage aab755c2
 [2014-11-14 07:56:45] Send voltage ok
 [2014-11-14 07:56:45] -----------------start freq-------------------
 [2014-11-14 07:56:46] Send frequency 82078211
 [2014-11-14 07:56:46] Send freq getstatus 84000400
 [2014-11-14 07:56:49] Recv 1 freq getstatus=8007000201
 [2014-11-14 07:56:49] Recv 2 freq getstatus=800f00020a
 [2014-11-14 07:56:49] Recv 3 freq getstatus=800f00020a
 [2014-11-14 07:56:49] Recv 4 freq getstatus=800f00020a
[2014-11-14 07:56:49] --------recv freq getstatus ok finish---------
 [2014-11-14 07:56:50] -----------------start nonce------------------
[2014-11-14 07:56:50] Bmsc send golden nonce
 [2014-11-14 07:56:50] AMU0 Init: mode=default read_time=100ms limit=0ms Hs=2.976100e-09
 [2014-11-14 07:56:50] Hotplug: Bitmain added AMU 0
 [1]    14682 abort      ./cgminer --bmsc-options 115200:1 --bmsc-voltage 0755 --bmsc-freq 0782

CGMiner then closes/crashes.

This happens on both a Ubuntu 14.04 box as well as a OSX 10.9.5 laptop.

If Bitmain can't provide software that actually works with their hardware as they claim why would I ever buy their products again?

Please using U3 in Windos.

Try this:
Code:
cgminer.exe --bmsc-options 115200:0.65   -o xxx -u xxx  --bmsc-voltage 0800 --bmsc-freq 1306

Using these settings raised my GH/s from 40 to 50 but now I am getting large number of Hardware Errors saying Invalid Nonce.  The vast majority of all frequency settings spit out this same error except for 0755 voltage 0782 freq and 0755 voltage and 0882 freq, but I only get 30 and 40 GH/s on these settings.

Also, I haven't been able to get it to run for more than 12 hours without going ZOMBIE or just sitting there hashing at 250 MH/s.

Any ideas before I just get rid of this thing?

EDIT:  Lasted for a whole 7 minutes at 50 GH/s, now is ZOMBIE.  Going back to the 0755 setting for a whopping 40 GH/s.

  try voltage 0800 freq 1286 with --bmsc-options 115200:0.57
about ZOMBIE issue,we have answer in another post #210

I sense a nice change in the air. They've contacted me offering me a U3 (after this message). While the value of one U3 is nowhere near enough to cover the development costs if I'd charged to merge and fix their driver, I've always been happy to do the same for existing drivers for when the manufacturer has freely offered it to me and will do so again here. Hopefully this means more official drivers in cgminer for bitmain products and hopefully they'll merge back our changes instead of maintaining their own various forks indefinitely.

About Zombie, don't set pc to sleep. Please offer screenshort when Zombie.

currently trying new U3 since last week.
with the latest cgminer fork from bitmain's website it seems to work without zombie now.

But:
is there a way to have an U3 and U1 mining on the same Win7 machine? I know U1 is like a joke, but all this kinda below 1 TH is a game these days. Smiley

any way to monitor temp of u3 and adjust the very NOISY FAN?

Noise: ~25 DB at 25 °C ambient temperature

this here is never ever at 25 db  (at 20 celsius room) more like 60-70 db.

Just get the U3 mined as usual, after it worked ,connect U1 to your Win7.Since the setting is not suitable for U1,both of the miners work, but U1`s hashrate is lower as indepdent,
about 930M/s.
