Does the op say 1.618% stake or 1618%?

1618% (~4.4% daily)

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but isn't it going to inflate the currency to the point of worthlessness?

Some coins have a long POW period (years). Think of staking like mining.
So if you want to mine this coin through POS, you also have to believe that it will have value in the future by holding coins. Not everyone will do this.

Already some awesome features in the wallet, and many to come. So if you stake & price goes up = win win! Smiley

Ok, so what block are we supposed to be on now?  Block explorer is still showing 7172.  I have a wallet open on this laptop which is showing 7176, and on my desktop I have my main wallet which has alot of coins that are all stake eligible.  The second it syncs up to 7172, it goes bonkers and I get like 30 blocks of coins stake instantly and it rockets up in block coin.  If I leave both these wallets open, they both seem to be a-okay with chilling on their own chains.  If I clear the roaming folder and resync both wallets, same thing happens again.  Meanwhile, block explorer sits at 7172 the whole time.

Gonna try syncing both clients with fresh wallets and see where they end up.  If they match, I'll slip in the old wallet.dat, restart, and see what happens.

Hang on, still seems to be a problem with the generated stake blocks getting orphaned by other nodes... I'm looking into it.

A few hiccups are a small price to pay for some innovation Wink  We'll get it humming along.

Maybe in the long run..in a year if all coins staked there'd be almost 20m coins but....

1) Not everyone will stake
2) Who cares about the long run? (Only half kidding here).

A fix could be to do what SYNC did and gradually reduce stake over time, but thats a problem for the long run Smiley

You're doing great dev!
Only a matter of time before people catch on to your due diligence!

Until then, cheap coins!

How many hours?
Generally they stay in stake for an hour or so..
I'd have to time exactly how long.. Remember it takes x amount of confirmations before it goes back to balance.. Have you checked the transactions page to see if the stakes have confirmed yet?

With the dev updating so frequently, it shouldn't worry you too much.
I actually just reset all my coins before the devs update today so I have to wait to see any staking.

Uhhhhh guys, didn't you see the last message from our dev?  Just close your damn wallets for now.  You are probably off on your own fork anyway.  Check the block explorer.  It hasn't budged for hours.  Await further word, buy some more cheap coins on trex to transfer once he gets the latest kink worked out.

This...   I'm working through it now.  I got the staking end working as you've seen, but the broadcast and acceptance by other nodes is what I'm working through now.

This isn't related to the different PoS hash, in this case it seems to be an issue with the unordered_maps I was using and the disk positions getting out of sync.

I'll get this out and an update to fix the artifacting in the volume chart, then I can proceed with what I wanted to get to today, which is roadmap etc.

Good news!

Should people refrain from sending coins until the next update?

Yes, just hang on a few minutes, I am building the new Windows wallet now.  Github is updated.  I found the root cause.

Updated Windows QT wallet 1.6.1.12:

https://mega.co.nz/#!8F1A0S4Q!Sz_DNeEBvQZn6XMrsfb0IIuhjc_viKt-h17kmmYgulc

Root cause of the propagation issue:
ReadFromDisk takes a true/false flag on whether to load transaction info, the block needs the tx info in order to determine if it is PoS or PoW and return the correct hash, the proof of stake check in kernel.cpp was calling it with "false", and therefore nodes were unable to validate the block because they were seeing a PoW hash instead of a PoS hash.

edit: as of 10:40PM EST I'm on block 7218 across a bunch of test wallets and nodes including the seeds.  You may need to resync to get to the latest.

Can't get it synced? Should I delete the everything in the roaming folder? (Except wallet.dat) Stuck on Block 7197.
