Antpool tends to be laggy, nothing you can do about it. ^

Well, I guess we can complain. Maybe they'll work on it!

I have not had problems with lag.  And I am using a decent amount of hash.

I have noticed luck has been varying a little, but I can't really blame the pool on that.

Just a heads up:

We have already set up a satellite internet connection in its place, and this farm is already back to normal.

Satellite internet? You do realise that this is the worst possible connection type for mining due to it's ultra-high latency right?

DOH!!  Cheesy

Yup, satellite Internet is no good for anything that needs low latency.

I'm hoping they mean internet that is not the in outer space satellite. I had at one time broadband which they called satellite but the put the transmitter on a bit local tv tower and on top house a satellite aimed at it.   It actually did not have bad latency.  But a hardline would be better I agree.   If it's the outer space satellite latency could be not so good.

Sadly we are dipping very low on luck again: Pool Lucky (24H / 3D / 1W / 2W / 1M / 3M / All Time) : 53.00% / 82.00% / 97.00% / 103.00% / 100.00% / 102.00% / 102.00%

This is way within what should be expected.

The luck is exactly where it should be, you can pool hop to try and find and hit the better luck streaks, but trust me, you will end up losing out in the end because this process will cost more than you stand to make.

when you compare through luck you can have a look on https://blockchain.info/en/pools - for me its look like the f2pool (china) is best one now with luck. hope this is a help for you. but switching often is not soo good imho. i stay on the antpool because this company is most loyal btc-company in my opinion. never have let me down...

GOOD LUCK! (this what we need for minting  Wink )

Agreed.  The math has been worked out for you already.  The pool's "luck" will even out if you stick to any pool--over the course of weeks usually, but definitely over the course of months.

Did AntPool really switch over to a satellite internet connection as I read a few posts up?Huh

Luck is one thing but I am starting to think that AntPool is performing like it actually is on a satellite connection.

Having said that, I have not been sharing the suck so much.  For the past day and a half, I went to eligius where I mined .0101712 BTC/GHZ.  I am clocking about 3.33 THZ with my equipment.  I felt I was stuck there until I reached their payout minimum of .014194304.  Supposedly you can change the minimum payout but it was not working for me.  It appears that I did not miss anything in my time away from antpool.

Looking at the brighter side, and it is hard to see a bright side with the performance of antpool and price of bitcoin today, I am using this as an opportunity to explore other pools.

Early this morning I switched back to antpool for about 6 hours.  The luck is not so good, but I cannot get all my antminers up to hashing speed.  Would this be because of Satellite internet connections.  That would make sense to me.

What shall I try next?  westhash, fpool.....  I'll report back.

No.  One of their farms got cut off from land line based internet, but not the pool itself.

Whew, Good thing my rig got rented out the day before antpool experienced this shitty luck baha. I keep my 0.01120 BTC/Thash/day rate Cheesy
Also, is switching to a satellite connection really able to cause such "luck" for block solving? Ping is a factor?!

Can someone teach Bitmain how to keep a bloody web server operational. It would be nice to check my miners now and then.

WOW Block 350738   took 1 sec .10%

also 4 out of the last 5 blocks.

EDIT: Something looks screwy as its says 190PH/s??? how did the hash go up x4 in 1 sec?? That can't be right...cut everyone pay by 4??

True dat!

I have to assume neither of you understand that the pool must estimate the pool's hashrate via a calculation, right?

hashes = shares * share_diff * 2**48 / 65535
so:
MH/s = shares/sec * share_diff * 4295

So if a pool's miner's are lucky and are able to find a share to submit by calculating less hashes than would normally be expected, the pool's hashrate appears to be higher than it actually is.

But do we know if it affects payouts in these cases?

Easiest way would be to check your payouts... mine wasn't affected.

You submit shares based on the work given.
If you happen to find a block, oddly enough, that doesn't mean you submitted a share worth 25BTC ...
It's worth the difficulty you are mining at.

Mining is random with quite a bit of variance.
Seems it is rampant that miners don't understand what that means.

... variance over 1 second ...
