I agree with you d57heinz about the key points of antpool being bad for many reaons and miners should support smaller pools like kano or bitminter or jonnys pool etc... . one thing to note though is that the restarts kano has been doing recently (with plenty of advanced notice) haven't affected mining and has only affected the website stats (for that short period of the restart) Other things mostly outside of kano's control have been the causes of the occasional miner disconnects. I also believe he still has room to grow.

But yes, people reading these posts please do seriously consider choosing a smaller pool that serves the interest of its miners and the Bitcoin network.

Well, when I mine, I like to get the best bang for my buck.
Right now, I have moved to Discus Fish since they have merged mining, I think this makes it worth the 4% fee since I sit on the coin.
I will spend this day to decide on which pool I will move my mining assets too, right now, DF seems to be logical until I make a long term decision.
Not a lot of time to move my miners, let alone talk on this forum, so when I pick one, it will be there until I find a fault.
I'm just s small home miner with still a few breakers to fill, not going to make much of a difference.

I have no problems with AntPool, I never had payment issues... compared to GHash for example.
Plus I like the fee-free PPLNS and the optional 2.5% PPS, I went to DF only because they offer merge mining of NMC and HUC, a nice little side investment.
I left DF when it became too big and mined at AntPool when it opened since I liked their layout; but I dislike daily payments.
My problem with small pools is that you lose that big pool fluidity and the prettier, easy to use and find-your-shit websites.
BitMinter is bang on, love this pool, Doc Haribo is bang on... I mined there a lot in my earlier days of mining but I tend get fixated on the dials; however, I found rewards higher than average.
However, if you want all perks, you have to pay the fees and the "N" value is rather high; I'm not a fan of paying fees, let alone more than one.
I prefer only cashing out once a week or whatever rather than daily tho, I like that freedom to choose between options.

I like mining PPS because it is stable and I am a career miner... long ago, I did predict that PPS would overtake PPLNS in the preferred work payment method; I stand corrected.
Right now, I am investigating other pools however, I do feel like home at AntPool, since all my miners are now AntMiners, pains me to leave, I found my first ever Bitcoin block last week.  Cool
Too bad it wasn't solo but I couldn't have done it on my own, that's for sure.

I'll spend a few hours investigating smaller pools again, I mined pretty much every pool, been mining for going on 3 years now.
Not a bad idea to freshen up a bit on things, been mining at AntPool since it pretty much opened its doors to the public; but it's pretty much a pool for HashNest.
That was my plan for today, they just put it in overdrive.

d57heinz, Antpool is the worst offender of empty blocks in the entire bitcoin world.  I started a thread months ago about empty blocks and back then called out the big offenders.

Either Antpool doesn't have the talent to fix the problem with their pool, they don't give a shit about it, or both.  People need to stop mining here and point their hash somewhere else.  bravo-mining.com could use the influx of hash.  BCMonster is another pool looking for miners.  DrHaribo's pool is a great recommendation as well.  Don't forget mmpool and of course kano's pool.  So many good choices for people...

I agree completely.. Im not meaning to leave anyone out i think they all could use a helping hand.(yours too.. I found it rather disheartening the lengths people went to to keep you from operating.. ie ddos)  Was just wanting to bring some light to another small pool that has been running since 2011 and not getting the recognition i feel he deserves. It really seems he has a rock solid setup and knows a great deal about whats needed to run a pool. I would like to be supporting these pools myself but the crazy rising diff brought on by the worst offender in the bitcoin world pushed me out and it really grinds my gears!.  Add insult to injury they don't seem to know how to mine correctly!  I really REALLY hope bitfury comes thru for the public..  we have to take back some of bitmain share of the network if they aren't going to play by the rules.

Please Antpool stop spv mining, fill your blocks and help put an end to all this bs debate about needing larger blocks!!  When i see everyone on the 3 month chart mining at 1 MB and we still have a backlog then id say its time.. but until then.  Atm if antpool would have mined full blocks for the last three months it would equate to over 500k transactions.  way more than the back log..

No one that gives half a shi.t about Bitcoin should mine here.  Of course Bitmain will mine all their machines here, but no one else should!  They are by and far the worst empty block offenders and they'll never do anything to change until the network forces them to, just like they keep running their crappy cgminer fork.

Good job Bitmain!  Your last 3 blocks were empty and there are well over 25k unconfirmed transactions.

Please, people.  Stop mining here.  There are so many other good pool choices, where operators actually care about the future of Bitcoin.

You can stop mining on the pool.  You can tell your friends to stop mining on the pool.  Post about it.  Tweet about it.  Whatever you can do to get people to stop pointing their hash here.

Since last Monday, AntPool has mined 44 empty blocks.  You know that giant backlog of transactions?  Yeah... that wouldn't exist had AntPool actually included transactions in its blocks.

Do we in fact know they are mining empty blocks on purpose?  Is it possible they aren't seeing the same set of transactions we are?

Is there a log somewhere of transactions making into the Antpool mempool which they subsequently ignore?

Yes we know for sure. It has been years since bitcoin has been quiet enough for any mempool anywhere on earth to have zero transactions after a block change. The reason antpool do it - as explained numerous times before - is dual: As a workaround to make up for poorly scalable pool software in addition to relying on block header only SPV hashing. Since their infrastructure is entirely dependent on whatever they deployed as their pool software now they have zero interest in changing their approach now since it "works". It mines, it finds blocks, miners sheep their way here, so why would they change? The next block halving is going to start really hurting antpool sheep (or are they ants?) as the proportion of rewards from transaction fees will be up to 5% of the reward even at current transaction rates and they'll be missing out on those rewards on every empty block they solve.

I wish that bitcoin itself would correct this with core network code that requires valid block solves to contain transactions when the mempool is not empty (i.e. always); the network itself would reject blocks that do not contain transactions.

That is huge bug in the bitcoin code. They are destroying the whole point of bitcoin. I really don't get it, if they continue to do so they will hurt the acceptance of this currency globally and than the price will fall, fucking tards!

They are indeed, if you check their empty or non full blocks in the past 24 hours you could see that if they were full blocks the mempool would be about 1/3 less then it is currently just based off Antpool's blocks. This is based on blocks of 980+ being considered full, antpool does find some 900 blocks but they are intentionally not filling them to the 1MB limit.

I made the switch to Kano. It needs more hash power. Come on...you can do it!

I just posted a similar link in the Empty Block thread, but F2Pool has really cleaned up it's act, leaving Antpool and BW as the largest empty block offenders. At this point, Antpool is pulling an average of 4.71 empty blocks per day.

so today i noticed i havent received a payout from antpool....usually i get mine super early in the am like around 12-2am est but it is now 11am est and no payout. i have .105 btc sitting in my acct now that should have been paid out but i havent seen anyone else mention no payouts for today so i figured i would post about it now to get the ball rollin. im sure its no biggie but i have learned not to leave btc sitting in ANY pool no matter how big or how small so i am uncomfy with this amount just sitting especially since i cant cashout manually on this pool like i can with eclipsemc.....i might just switch back to them because i rarely have issues with them paying out. i think they were delayed once in the years i have mined there and even that was just a few hours if im remembering correctly.
