While we're at it. Can someone explain to me how hedging works in general? If you hedge against a bad outcome of a bet/gamble, doesn't that hedge also anihilate the good outcome?
Lets say a stock is bought at $30 with the expectation of the price going up. To hedge against the price going down the investor may buy puts (at $2/share) guaranteeing the investor the right to sell the stock at $25 within a given time frame. If the stock goes up to $60 then the investor would be up $30/share -$2/share = $28/share. If the stock goes down to $2. Then the investor is only out $7/share instead of the $28/share if the put was not bought as a hedge. I believe this is more traditionally how one would hedge against a risk. |

Everybody says things like "30% of my holdings" or "the next wave" in this case, but you never know whether that's 30 BTC or 30k BTC. |
