What a ride!
Damn!
13$, 11.8$, 10.6$, 12$!
I could slap myself that I missed out on the whole thing! Up to 20% more bitcoins in two days? Damn!

I need to pay closer attention.
As this here is, theoretically, a thread about walls - where would be a good spot to read about hints and speculations when something like this is imminent? The low volume was a good warning sign, it didn't come out of nowhere (this time)..
Any long-term thread with that stuff?

Heck, maybe a paid-text-alarm would be due!

Ente

Haha I know right, I would've bought in around low 11s, didn't even think the 10s would happen, but I seriously fucked up when i put in a big temporary buy order for 11.8 two nights ago to add some downward pressure and realized I typed in 12.8 after the fact, causing me to buy at 12.20 Sad((((((

hard lessons learned hard

I would do a paid text alarm if there was enough demand. For what like 0.1 btc/month?

How did you expect your buy order to add to downward pressure?  It did you mean to place a sell order and instead placed a buy?

Bitcoin Fact: the price of bitcoin will not be greater than $70k for more than 25 consecutive days at any point in the rest of recorded human history.

My logic was that by placing a lower priced buy order, I would slightly increase density at the lower price and buyers and sellers would note the depth accordingly and possibly adjust their ideas of what the fair market rate might be.

Sounds more like to me as you got burned and are not willing to admit it - yet.

Haha I'll admit I got burned due to my own stupid mistake, and I'm paying the price for it. I wish there was a confirmation popup to make sure you want to open a trade, like on blockchain making sure if you want to send x address y coins.

He bought at 12.20 and the price is now at 11.80ish. It's not ideal, and he clearly lost some money, but it's hardly big enough to say he got burned. Also, his buy wasn't intentional, like he said Wink

Also, pay attention to bitcoin news.  The GLBSE news, combined with some wall posturing and low volume, was about as good a suggestion for an impending downward movement as you can get.

In hindsight, definitely.
I read the crash of GLBSE early enough. As I never used it I underestimated its impact, though. Elsewhere was stated the total BTC on GLBSE are around 8000 only, though..
Probably the regular [stock-]exchange hysterica. And then the other signs were there too.
As I repeatedly lost money and/or bitcoins when playing daytrader, I decided to sit back and watch for a while. heh.

Now I'm getting total OT and newb-mode:
What are easily visible hints that something drastic may come?

- low volume for a long time
- too narrow band where the price stays in
- triangle-formation

I won't even start to draw in charts. It all seems perfectly clear when you see someone's results, but figuring it out yourself..?  Huh

GLBSE is only the catalyst for what has been brewing for months now. We got to the point where even mining is subsidized by ponzis, and those on GLSBE were only a part of it. There are various stand alone schemes run by miners and there is pyramining, both which haven't collapsed yet...

What this will do to the price is not certain - what is certain is that the shitstorm will be epic.

I don't know why it'd be a shitstorm compared to Pirate aftermath, Bitfloor aftermath, and entire lending board collapse aftermath, etc. Has the market not been conditioned against ponzis collapsing and thefts enough for these sorts of things to be factored into the price we pay for a bitcoin yet?

well, it was noted a few pages ago in this thread (i think) shortly after the bitfloor thing that while the price will crash or what have you after such negative events, the time to recovery is getting faster. seemingly a good thing if true.

i don't post much, but this space for rent.

Idk the pirate one was pretty entertaining. (I'm not speaking about price movements just people being butthurt on the forums mind you)

Again idk what this will do to the price, the potential for a crunch is there alone by the mass of bitcoin piled up by the operators of the various schemes. They might dump, or not... who knows.

<----- waits for cat picture.....

Well I bought at 10.87 but given my (short) trading history it is bound to turn out to be a mistake lol

Nice kiwi! Just make sure to sell before we get to 11.8$. Low volume like that makes this dead cat bounce what it is, a dead cat bouncing off the bottom. If we get to 12$ however, I shall bite my ass and search for some appropriate cat picture from the internetz to illustrate the pain of the moment.
