I'm not so sure we are done with $13.xx yet, there has been a lot of resistance here at $13.10-13.50.

i think the normal bulls are tired. this is new guys coming in which have no idea what the price has played in the past, just buying at market price propping it up
Maybe no idea but it's hardly rocket science either to see the price history.  However if a whole wave of new people have come on board due to one or more of the news pieces recently maybe they/we don't consider the past price to be that relevant to today's?  I don't really know.  But then again I like the fact that though I don't know, neither really do those with thousands of post-counts and maybe as many trades.

All we each have is our best guess given this that and the other - and we simply trade our belief as to where it's going Smiley  Good luck all (except those trading against me Wink )!

All I see is support.  13.10 will hold.  Next stop 14.20-14.70.

I think $13.10 will hold too. I just think we are going to be in the $13s for awhile.

whats the point of some people selling .01 coins a fraction at a little less than the next higher ask price?

Its the bot that places a 0.01 ask 0.00001 above the highest bid to try and suppress the price.

When a normal user logs onto mtgox and is on the buy tab, they see the price of the ask the bot placed, which can cause them to place lower bids than they would have originally. Plus the bot sells 0.01 at market first, so the Mtgox last price always appears lower than it should.

I would guess that not everyone looks at the order book before placing their bids, many will just go off of the values they see on Mt Gox's trade page

The bot always does it, whether the bid/ask difference is 10 cents or 0.0001 cents.

That's what this bot is going for.

Which begs the question... How much do these bots distort the true market value?

The true market value isn't distorted because of this, because you are free to run a bot against him. This bot does have a small effect on the price though.
