"From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia In finance, short selling (also known as shorting or going short) is the practice of selling securities or other financial instruments, with the intention of subsequently repurchasing them ("covering") at a lower price"
I'm no expert but is what Adam doing not "shorting"? Or does shorting have another definition?
No, what adam does is sell with the intention of subsequently repurchasing at a lower price, then buy back at a higher price.

oh when I "short" I mean I'm selling on the exchange with intention to buy back lower....
lol, you know thats not shorting right, thats just not being long So what is being zhoutonged? "From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia In finance, short selling (also known as shorting or going short) is the practice of selling securities or other financial instruments, with the intention of subsequently repurchasing them ("covering") at a lower price" I'm no expert but is what Adam doing not "shorting"? Or does shorting have another definition? In the way it was done on Bitcoinica, it was more like: You "borrow" some BTC, then sell that at some high price, then re-buy it at a (hopefully much) lower price. Thus profiting.

Normally, shorting means you sell things that you don't already own (so you have to borrow them from your broker/exchange/whatever). Otherwise, its just plain old selling.

The front edge of the bid volume keeps piling up as this rally moves. The buyers around the $15 mark are gob-smacked.
The big question is will fear of missing more rises suck them into paying $16?

lol, you know thats not shorting right, thats just not being long So what is being zhoutonged? Apparently it's just not being Bill Gates. zhoutong made a the first trading platform which alowed users to short sell bitcoin (or go long) with leverage( meaning you could trade with up to 10times more money) the catch was if you went short and the price when up to much all your funds would go to zhoutong. now we call it getting zhoutonged First name: Zhou Last name: Tong Project: Bitcoinica (now in liquidation) Wow that is much bigger than i intended I think Zhou is the family name (last name), and Tong is the given name (first name)

i dont see any big walls until $17 Not yet. Most of the ask walls are market plays, not sellers. This one at $16 looks legit and will have to bought out...
