Watch out for the "Neg-Rep-Dogie-Police".....

If dogie thinks it's OK & "on topic" to insult people on Bitmain threads, but considers it "off topic" for his accused to counter his remarks & ask for an apology - then there is something definitely wrong here. Don't you think?

Thank you.

Thanks IYFTech - Hope you enjoyed the boxing day lunch  Wink  I'm so full I can't move....... Tongue

@ BitmainWarranty:

I can understand you trying to make light of the situation we find ourselves in, really, especially after our discussion. However, my request to dogie stands. I want this to end on the thread it was started on, here. I have no intention of chasing your employee all over the forum, so I would appreciate your efforts to get the dogie situation resolved to a satisfactory conclusion, as it is in the best interest of all parties involved.

Thanks.

Every time a block is mined, a certain amount of BTC (called the subsidy) is created out of thin air and given to the miner. The subsidy halves every four years and will reach 0 in about 130 years.

OK, in the interest of keeping this civil, and because I too have had the pleasure of dogies confused accusations (see my banner) - I feel I should chip in with my 2 cents....mainly because I believe dogie has just gone too far this time. Read on.......

I was also contacted by both BitmainWarranty & Yoshi, prior I believe, to them contacting PatMan for the same reason - firmware issues & dogies attitude, which I discussed with them both. As PatMan has stated, both BitmainWarranty & Yoshi were very understanding, and yes, they both apologized to me also for dogies comments. I don't want to go into detail about what was agreed, I will leave that up to BitmainWarranty & Yoshi to do so if they feel obliged to. I also contacted PatMan after my discussion with them, urging him to divulge his grievances, which I understand he did & was happy with the outcome - as was I. Everything I said above can be confirmed by both BitmainWarranty & Yoshi if there are any doubters out there.

So now I log on & what do I see? Yet another baseless insult from dogie on the Bitmain thread. I feel that everything we discussed has just been abandoned, how can this possibly be of any help to Bitmain? What possible good can become of it? I actually feel sorry for Bitmain right now, they are trying their hardest to to restore customers faith - while dogie continues hurling insults & accusations on their very own thread(s).

If dogie thinks it's OK & "on topic" to insult people on Bitmain threads, but considers it "off topic" for his accused to counter his remarks & ask for an apology - then there is something definitely wrong here. Don't you think?

Thank you.

This is a CLASSIC example of why dogie was not a good move for Bitmain.. Your post is 100% off topic and ANY moderator in his right mind would delete this back and forth off topic crap and give all three of you a temp ban … I get so sick of trying to go over updates in threads I have tagged only to see its a pitch and moan post that has ZERO to do with the S5 … I have had issues with bitmain in the past and it has always got resolved … I have ordered S1's, S2's, S4's, and S5's from Bitmain, EVERY SINGLE ONE of the units hit the advertised hash rate one way or the other . Did I have to wait for a few firmware updates ? Yes .. was it an unreasonably long wait, No .. Im here to look for new info on the S5 and not listen to a back and forth between three children .. I have serious S5 questions, Im a home miner and currently run 4 S4's on 4 20 amp circuits … Just here to find out how I can best squeeze in a few S5's to the mix until better rack mount units come out . IYFTech and pat, I like you both and do find value in your on topic posts.. I think you are a value add to the community … If you want to win this fight, let dogie hang himself.. He's given himself plenty of rope .  Stop with the back and forth between him . Lets wait for the S5 and see how this plays out …

Thank you  I appreciate the fast answer.
I hope this is a solid item like the s-1's and s-3's.
I know I can almost certainly make it quieter then an sp20E  the question is will it run and run and run and run like my s-3's did. Or like the current king of the block the SP20E.  Part of the fun will be that it is solid and there are 2 really good home miners to use. Fingers crossed.

Please keep in mind people, this is Bitmain's product discussion thread. While excessive harassing of members isn't acceptable under any circumstance, it is especially not acceptable in someone else's thread. I'm sure Dogie doesn't mind talking to reasonable people about whatever issues people are having with him, but please do not do it here. Don't clutter the thread making information harder to access for those that want it.

SaltySpitoon,

Firstly, thank you for your input.

However, if I am to be accused of something I have not done on a Bitmain thread, by someone who is paid by Bitmain - I believe I am, at the very least, entitled to an apology. Is that so unreasonable? I think not. I'm sure that you have read the circumstances of my request in this thread - if it were to happen to yourself, would you not want an apology? As genuine & appreciated as BitmainWarranty's & Yoshi's apology was, it's not the same, and until dogie realises the errors of his ways, the situation will continue & indeed probably get worse - weather it is with me or any of the other forum members he's seen fit to abuse or insult on Bitmain threads. It has gone too far already - & needs to be nipped at the bud.

Sorry, but my request still stands.

I like the second one, will that display fine everywhere? I've not seen those characters before.

It will display via SSH w/ putty, VT100, Linux Terminal, xterm, xterm256 color, etc..  common defaults work fine.

I replaced /etc/banner with this and logged into one of my S3's w/ putty (default settings)

I've still got some questions that I think went unaddressed - besides the holiday I've been phlegmatic and unconscious for most of this week. Regarding the expected hashrates from a 0.8V chip (22GH according to the first-post chart) and 60 chips per machine, why the machine's hashrate is rated at 14% under that. Also what provisions were made to keep node currents stable during chip use fluctuations. One user keeps asking for the ability to disable individual chips, which for a string miner would be a pretty bad thing to have happen but if chips disable themselves, what provision is there for proper currents to keep flowing? Are there any provisions for chips overvolting? Like say, using a server PSU that's reading high and outputting 13V instead of 12 (which isn't terribly uncommon), giving you an 8% overvolt - say one node in your string fails short and now you're running 14 nodes. You're now 15% overvolted on all chips. How is that handled? I'm not really looking for proprietary trade secrets, I already know how I'd do it if I were making a string miner. I just want to know that some of these safety measures were not overlooked. It's entirely too common for string miners to catch on fire - they're a really good idea, but with a few particular tricky details that shouldn't be left up to chance.

Cool, quiet and up to 1TH pod miner, on sale now!
Currently in development - 200+GH USB stick; 6TH volt-adjustable S1/3/5 upgrade kit

Forwarded again to engineers, I did before but no answer yet.

Righto, thanks. I doubt anyone goes out of their way to trust my opinions, but I really like Bitmain gear (for disclosure, I own about 15 undervolted S1, run an S2 Kit and an S3) and I can't recommend the S5 until I trust a few things have been taken care of. It'd be really nice to have gotten ahold of one of those evaluation units, but then a thousand other people could say the same thing.

Cool, quiet and up to 1TH pod miner, on sale now!

@ Fatman3001    I crunched sales numbers a little more from 12-22 to 12-26 and I believe at least 400 to 600 s-5's have sold and paid to that addy I posted above.

Thanks, it will be interesting to see what it looks like when these machines hit the network. Do you know if they use other addresses?
Yes.  I paid to a different addy.  I ordered within 15 min.  Expecting a tracking # tomorrow.  Should be up and running tues or wed.  I'll try to post...

the big fear is will behave like Asic Miner"s tube or prisma.

I owned both of them and both   had current/heat runaway problems. very hard to keep stable.

Once I get the test module I can

A) undervolt it with 1 psu.

B) over volt it with another psu.

C) volt it perfectly with a high quality psu.

D) sent 11 volts to one board and 13 volts to the other board. using 2 different psu's

E)Set a low freq

F) set a high freq

G) add the higher quality silverstone fan for cooling

The s-1 and s-3's I have had were all good or very good. 1 dead ethernet and all else good out of 30-35 units.

I have read problems on the s-2 the s-4 the c-1 but I never had one of them to test

trace your addy forward and see if it leads to the  addy I gave above.

I can only find the one big one now.  but that does not mean they do not have more big addy's.

they used to have quite a few really big addys 3 I think.

When they did the s-3's I found batches 1, 2 ,3 each sold 2000 s-3's
