old s5 temps with Silverstone f141???

new s5 temps

Standard S5 fan mod - 29.5c 85.1f in the room

Took old delta 120mm fan that I found In the closet tested it. It was burned out. So I Carefully ripped out the fan itself and left the other fins in place so I can use it for a shroud then I mounted another delta "stock S5 fan" which had the same air director blades this makes the fan more directional. I got the idea from this video from Silverstone at the bottom. watch it you will see.

As you can see the results above in the pic. Also the noise level dropped from 75db to 62db.

Injuries from the mod which I got when my finger hit the blade. I got distracted because My loving wife has PMS this week!!!

ouch!!!!

......

These are only a temperature sensor readings, not the actual miner blades temperatures. You can  fool the sensor,if you put in a separate small radiator.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=933796.0

My watercooled S5 four temperature sensor readings are 60-70 degrees Celsius ,    But the coolant is 35  degrees Celsius.

My brother did the same thing. He powered it up while holding the edges. The thing blows so fast it swung upwards and over just from the airflow... sliced his thumb right open.

I posted along these lines in the thread dedicated to created a liquid cooled S5.

Not sure what the point of doing this is... I'm hashing on my S5 units pretty consistantly at 1200ish (some more, some a tad less) by simply using 1 replaced Delta AFB1212SHE fan.

I mean, factoring the time, materials, cost, to mod an S5 into a liquid cooled S5 - just doesnt seem worthwhile unless you can end up getting 1500ghash or even more.

Am I missing something?

..

Which Sound Level Meter it is measured?

These tests, I'd like to read radiator temperature measured with an infrared thermometer.
Not the temperature sensor readings.  These temperature sensor readings are true only with factory fan .

A heads up to anyone in the US having these shipped via the new FedEx option to save a few bucks.  I have been called/emailed multiple times today from FedEx asking what a 'Bitcoin miner' is.  The latest is an attempt to have me fill out some FCC form (which I have refused to do.)  I don't know if I will be receiving my shipment next week via FedEx.  I will update the thread with  results.

If you want hassle free delivery in the US, I recommend sticking with UPS for the time being.

Send them this with a PFO letter and drop the P:

EDIT: Bitmain...perhaps consider just calling it computer hardware.

what's a big deal with a form? It is basically an importer doc-it cost nothing. They only ask for it once-I did it for a competitors machine one time and then it was OK later on.

UPDATE:  I was able to state to them in an email that the unit is FCC/CE certified for emissions (which it is by Bitmain) and they accepted that.

Good to hear. I have dealt with all of the shipping companies and UPS has always been tops for me. None of the others come close.

all that cash is not practical for what these miners rake in!!!

6 months the S5 will be useless anyway!!!

FedEx called me today on my S5 shipment.  I told them it was a specialized computer.  He said he needed to know if it was FCC compliant.  When I told him it was not a wireless device, he quickly was happy.

C1 has today exactly the same useless value as 2x  Antminer S3
I have already some C1 miners.  I can make  them to air-cooled C1 to sell , and leave the better parts for the construction of a water-cooled S5. Up to 4.6TH/s  in a small housing.

Why should I not  do it ?
I need to buy only a few SC-BC2 antiminner cooling kit http://shop.syscooling.com/goods.php?id=46

mine cost me 5 bucks and a donation of a delta fan from a good friend and time and my s5 runs fine.

good idea but why are you combining hash boards knowing S5 has BM1384 chips and c1 and s3 has 1382 chips the power draw will be to much. Not unless you get free electric like I do.

You are bound to get hidden issues if you combine those boards It would need to be thoroughly tested by an engineer that deals with ASIC. It may run fine according to you but its really not.

but if you have the spare boards just make sure the s5 Controller can handle the voltage load and that the pins on the ribbon cables have the same pin configurations otherwise your S5 will go up in smoke!!

I saw pics of it already but a don't believe it anybody can use Photoshop or adobe. I would have to be there in person to see it run with my own eyes.

They made the S5 with fewer voltage buck converters this is one of the reasons its more stable and uses less power. I hate voltage Buck converters not unless there multistage like on a high end PC motherboard!!!

BITMAIN uses a cheap no frills version of them.

Our order was held by FedEx. They required our EIN. Perhaps due to size of order/dollar amount.

Now... What do I do with these stock S5 Fans???
