How can i reset a antminer s5 to the default dhcp setting and to the root password?

Greetings
Willi

Borrowed this one from Dogie
- Use a paperclip to press the reset button - located next to the ethernet connector - down for
5-10 seconds. The miner will then reset with stock settings.

Also some light reading

thanks :-)

Well I was a away from home today and my internet went down.  When I got back home it was up and running and the miners were acting funky.  I powered them down and they all came back up right, but the S5 didn't.  I noticed I am stuck around 500 to 600.  I'm going to go through the steps, but anything upfront would be greatly appreciated.  Miner was running fine up to that point of the internet going down.  The second chain is completely dead.  Thanks in advance.

Here is a guide for PCB: https://bitmain.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/204875015-How-to-diagnose-S5-hashing-PCB

I would use that first to make sure it looks good hardware wise.  It is not bad to check it anyways.

And here is a guide if it does seem to stick around 500-600 area after: https://bitmain.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/203559969-My-S5-hashes-at-about-600GH-S

Please let us all know if that works for you!  Best of luck.

Unscrewing the screws for the board, i notice a stripped screw head.

Is it stripped to point you cant unscrew?  I don't want you to do any damage.

If we cannot go through PCB guide I would go to other guide: https://bitmain.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/203559969-My-S5-hashes-at-about-600GH-S

It is more software then hardware.  But it's worth trying it.

It's a stripped screw and I don't want to damage it.  I was able to move the PCB and check both boards individually.  I have a dead board, and 1 chip dead on the other board.  It also isn't hashing.  This is not a good day.  10 miners and this is the first miner to do this.  ARGGGGGG.

What are the next steps?

Do you know if it's still in warranty? Did you buy direct from Bitmain?

Next step you will need to contact Bitmain Warranty.  They will have to help as far as parts.   Below is the ways to contact them:

There is webpage:
https://bitmain.zendesk.com/hc/en-us

Skype:
BitmainEnglish

And email:
support@bitmain.zendesk.com

Just over a month old.  Straight Bitmain.  I'll go to the site now.

Thats good news mean still in warranty. They have some great support I'm sure will take care of you.

Any ideas or trick to remove stripped screws?  Of course the last screw has to be the stripped one.

I would ask Bitmain Warrenty what they want you to do on it.

They do sell tools to get out stripped screws at hardware stores, but you would want to be careful.  And it also destroys the screw where you would need a replacement.

I did, just waiting to hear back from them.

Wonder if they're getting any returns having the stripped screw hold drilled thru and 4-40, washers and nuts in that hole.

It's hard to tell.  I for one would be a little scared to drill out the stripped screw.

If you feel confident you can drill the screw out there are definitely a lot of tools to help.  I don't know if I would do it myself on a miner.

Thought of having to drill out a screw scares the sh*t out of me.  I'll see what they say.

Let me remind you, I Bitmain sent a used S5, which one blade was not working, the guarantee of its system, is now the second blade junk has 3 chips began to fall off in the specification of + 5% in 1155 is not included in my more than 7%. Bitmain claims that up to 3 chips normally. Bad Company Bitmain.

Not sure appears to be down for me  as well.  I also can't get to antpool either.  So likely all of their main sites down.

this was discussed here some time ago.
Apparently, bitmain made a coding error or omission whereas when you simply type bitmain.com in the browser window, it does not re-direct to secure https://bitmaintech.com
The solution is to type the whole https thingie, which is way too much for a regular lazy browser like myself.
I think that quite a few people are annoyed by this.

In short: redirect from bitmaintech.com to https://bitmaintech.com does not work, but https site works

It seem like the warranty center went on permanent vacation.  My Bitmain experience has been great, up until now.

Are they on vacation?

I have a dead miner, under warranty, that is sitting here.  I'm glad it at least paid for itself.

how? and still be under warranty?
i thought the warranty was 90 days? there is no way 90 days is enough to get ROI. even with zero power costs it would take longer than that.

Here is a good list of fan's including that one - https://bitmain.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/204199879-Antminer-S4-fan-specification-and-possible-replacement-fans

If you are looking at money vs performance I think "Sanyo Denki SunAce 120 9GV1212P1J091" wins.  Not factoring in sound.
