Posted on litecointalk. A lot of people are against this guy but I think he done the right thing. What do you think ? Website will not be shutted down directly, Chris has some time to respond. If Chris is working on the website and he's legit, he can reply and provide some informations, if not, website will most probably be shutted down. I am more and more convinced that he just moved the website through 2 servers to cover his traces (maybe he didn't use proxy/vpn on previous servers to cover his trace). At beginning, the website was hosted by godaddy, then website was moved to another company, and finally to ovh.

I just sent the following email:
to:
abuse@enom.com,
1D7B87829B5447FF90F68FE63E925BCA.PROTECT@whoisguard.com,
abuse@ovh.ca

subject:   fraudulent website ltcgear.com

Helo.

My name is ... .

I would like to take legal action against the fraudulent site ltcgear.com

The website is conducting bitcoin related fraud. An estimate of the litecointalk.org comunity users is at least 2 million US dollars.

Please instruct me what steps I need to make in order to receive:
- every information about the owner of the site
- all of the logs of the site's/domain's activity

Best regards, ...

In order to legaly tie Chris to the website, we need statements and info from enom and ovh.ca
I believe the more we request this info, the sooner the said companies will react, so we can go further. If anyone considers fit, pleease send the same message to said companies.

Quote from: abuse@ovh.ca
Madam or Sir:

We acknowledge receipt of your complaint regarding alleged illegal activities (Other) and we appreciate your taking the time to come forward with this complaint.

We first would like to indicate you that OVH HOSTING Inc. conducts its activities in conformity with applicable Canadian law. Therefore, we prohibit all use of our systems to transmit, receive, host any illegal content or conduct any illegal activities as Other. Thus, complaints made in this regard are taken seriously.

It's also important to note that we are renting “unmanaged” servers to our customers. This means that we only have physical access to the server and cannot access its content (no root, administrator, or user access).

We have forwarded a copy of your notice of claimed infringement to the concerned subscriber (also note that most of our customers are ressellers, renting an internet infrastructure from us in order to sell products to their own customers).

We have invited him to provide us with his comments and observations regarding your claims within forty-eight (48) hours of the notice.

Please be advised that we will contact you whether or not we receive a response from the subscriber.

Sincerely,

OVH HOSTING INC.
Its stupid to shut down the site so soon that guy is a dumbass and is probably a competitor.  I would like to know how much he has invested in LTCgear I bet it is minimal to nothing.  A month without payouts is long but from a business perspective say a business was not paying its bills you would not shut the business now in a month it would be at least two the three months before creditors would move to freeze accounts.

Now I am on record with my suspicions that LTCGear is a ponzi of some sort but cutting off the SINGLE point of contact and access to the operation is KneeJerk and stupid imo ... if anything we need to gather more information and scrape more of the site if it ever comes back.

It is a common myth that Bitcoin is ruled by a majority of miners. This is not true. Bitcoin miners "vote" on the ordering of transactions, but that's all they do. They can't vote to change the network rules.

Agree with Marvell.  This is something you do when the site is gone and no sign of life. Read what the owner literally wrote last night.... http://ltcgear.com

Gathering info is fine but you are too far ahead in the process. Getting the site shut down is nothing short as dumb as fuck and def something a competitor would do.

its very interesting what I am reading, i am 151 recent shares and lucky not to have lost much unlike some other ponzis failing at similar times.

So, my thoughts.

1: T&C of the shares that are sold via the main site, what do they say as it was full shopping cart site.  What does it say and what specific information does it say about share-payments
2: Can we catalog all the products that have been for sale, when they were introduced and how many shares 'total'
3: From what I can tell the sale of products increased a lot near the end, so therefore I am interested to know how many circuits were made in such a short space of time, we understand he is clever but to make these ASIC chips at significant scale would be a lot of production, we know he got the money but has he got the production!
4: So we might have got his location details, but where is the vast array of warehouses with these processing boards too.  Surely if it was in his house he need something like a power-station next door?
5: I bought my shares from someone else, two people. But I have had no terms so basically they are just share transfers from another user.  So I dont have a legal contract to own part of a share? well you could argue that I got a PM from the person who sold them to me with a figure, but I didnt sign any official documentation to say that a payment will happen?
6: Romanians legal, anyone here from the country? how do you see it? What do you think a court would do? what sort of sentances? do you think it would ever get to court? and is anyone here into Crypto and have legal skills.

I said enough.  Food for thought.

One of the guys from IRC, contacting anyone he possibly can with a relationship to Chris has been banned by admin.  I see him posting here now with the same crap.  He told me, he's only owed around 5 btc, and has only been with ltcg for about 2 months.  I tried to explain Chris's history, but some people you just can't get through to.  We are all frustrated with the situation!   These actions are NOT benefiting anybody.

Chris is dealing with a lot of money, we all know this.  Hacker's aren't stupid, like you little trolls running around here doxxing people.  They are attacking him on many different levels.  We have all seen just a portion of what they have done.  He has to fix the problems with the DB,  He has address and stop the multiple vulnerabilities with the site.  He has to develop a pay on demand system.  That not only holds thousands of individual balances, it also has to be tied to the current share setup he has in place now.  This system has to be perfect, ltcg future depends on it.   One error could cost him everything.  There is nothing easy about any of this and it is not going to happen over night.  Please remain patient.

showing that the site was easy to hack is also part of the info we want...
The point of this thread is to get to those who got our money, if the answer is "some damn hacker" this is still a good answer these also are the guy who should be searched... So you see, all this isn't either total non sense nor irrelevant to that discussion.

Claims were made that ltcgear was hacked and money was stolen so if it has indeed been hacked, then the course of action is also different (meaning there is no reason to not give more time to beekeeper to solve his issues... against there is no reason to wait to go to him...)

So I don't think that I am off topics, potential hackers are also the people against whom which should get information, considering all the btc which have been stolen in the past year...

Well if you think that then feel free try to find some info about the hackers instead of wildly throwing out accusations with no proof. This is a thread for gathering information, not insulting others and trying to lay blame on people.

Has Chris ever said that money was stolen anyway? He has said there are lots of fake shares, but there has been no confirmation so far that any money was stolen. Correct me if I am wrong on that.

He did say he paid some payouts to bogus addresses. So yes, some money was stolen.

Money was stolen yes, but not directly compromised from Chris' wallets as far as we know. It was paid out to people with fake shares and adresses changed. Don't know how much and how long it's been going for, that's all the issue and that's what's needed to be tracked down

4.82601752BTC on 2014-12-18 on one address and 5.035478BTC on another, same date. Maybe some on 1AeFq5RbXiY1vsRqZjcF7fVodCxXwmDcMX as well, but that one has too many transactions for me bother going though.

I think we've changed to 2 day delays now, so will see ETA change to Jan 20th.

I have a weird feeling this is the day it either just disappears (or there is not even a change) or there is a major delay added (1 week or so). It just does not feel like the site will just be back.

I wonder if it will be 3 day delay soon, once it reaches 7 days I am throwing in my towel and calling it a scam/ponzi
