I didn't realize SWC was shut down due to legal reasons -- is it because it was an unlicensed poker site or something?

Yes and they think Micon run SWC and because it is unlicensed , Micon is arrested while I think micon is just a PR guy here and have nothing to do with owning SWC. Goodness is that Micon is now free from any charges

Just did some reading on it. I hope the new SWC is safe from being taken over by the U.S., so we don't face something like this again.

You're pretty gullible, I guess.  Because this is the same idiot who has been trolling and making ridiculous accusations on a shit-ton of sites, claiming Micon personally stole Bitcoin from him (and then disappearing when pressed on details), and otherwise shitposting on other sites as well as this one.

ETA:  I suppose you have a point they could have reacted more for the benefit of casual observers.  I'm under no such obligation myself, but they're probably sick of dealing with this troll.

And when someone demands contact information on people who clearly and openly have remained anonymous for years, why do they expect a polite response to bullshit like that?

You're absolutely right. I should have been more level headed about these things. I'm not a PR guy, they arrested the person that was good at that role. I'm a developer wearing an ill-fitting PR hat. After constant replies from this troll not taking no for an answer and him making FUD posts on tons of forums I reacted poorly. I should have ignored him, which is what I'll do in response to trolling in the future. Gomenasai, please forgive me. ;_;

Interesting... who was arrested, and what for? I followed the SWC situation somewhat loosely but never heard about that.

They probably mean Micon who was not exactly arrested but was charged with running SWC even though he was only the PR person.

I didn't realize SWC was shut down due to legal reasons -- is it because it was an unlicensed poker site or something?

Actually it was a few months back and I don't think it was ever shut down due to the unlicensed problem. From what I recall they were shifting to a new software so they had shutdown the previous site, also due to a bug I believe. I think it was after launching the new site that they ran into the licensing problem and Micon was to appear in court.

Seals should be safe now Smiley Their team according to Micon have been running it from Antigua and have no plans to return to US . Even if they do I don't think the government will know that they are running it from within US.

You can spin the story of new ownership all you want but the fact is Micon held himself out as the owner online, posted video's, ran the operations etc.

Now suddenly he is not the owner, never handled funds and so forth?

So when players ask who is it now that does since we were lead to believe something supposedly not the case any longer we are trolls?

It doesn't matter anymore the only people who care are the States in which those people live or should I say lived?

Is that why I cannot know who owned email address 12puqy@gmx.com because they are American... wait don't answer that I nor do any players deserve to know who handles their bitcoin, right.

I have actually believed Micon to be the owner too . But I used to think he didn't develop or handles the coding for the site.
The only reason those people are being called trolls is since it really doesn't matter like you say . Even if they give you a name, nothing will come out of it. And since in the past it has gone against Micon to reveal his identity  therefore it would have the same affect on anyone in the future linking themselves to Seals .

I agree to a degree.

What bothers me is this.

If Micon did not handle the technical aspect of things, that was fine, known in fact.

However he did hold himself out as the owner of the new seals and since that has since changed or never changed since they say he was not and never had control it makes me worried. Who exactly is held responsible for major issues such as theft etc? Were they just using him to maintain confidence and now "they" no longer can?

See my point.

I do see your point but think about it like this. On every single bitcoin based gambling site there is no owner whose identity is publicly known. For example Primedice is run by Stunna. Now we don't know his real identity . Its just an online identity . Any site could be claimed to be run by an individual or a team . They could always have been using him to maintain confidence but even if they didn't it wouldn't mean they would still not have got all the traffic. Without an Identity behind the people who run the site , you can believe it to be just like any other gambling site. Your argument applies to each such site. A lot of sites in the past have ended as scams which has also been in forms of  running away with player funds . If you do not leave a huge chunk of money on the sites then its fine. If you are worried about your funds on the site , then withdrawing the funds is the best course of action after every game.

In any case of theft I am sure Micon would still come on the forum and help people in getting their money back incase a theft was to occur as he does happen to know the identity of the original owners.

Hello, is there any way to see the type of tournaments that are offered before installing the software? Like how many freerolls a day, fees, buy-ins, GTD tournaments etc.
I'm starting to try out some poker rooms, but I like to get some info on them before installing software etc, because if they don't have what I like there is no point in installing and creating an account.

Thank you!

It takes 2 minutes to download and and open an account and you will then get an accurate view of what you are looking for.

They have freerolls every 90 minutes.  Mostly 5 chip ones with some 15 and 25 chip ones as well.  For the larger ones you need to earn 1 krill which is easy to do.  You earn krill by playing tournaments or cash games.  Yes they have GTD tournaments.  Most tournament buyins are from 1 to 20 chips with some larger ones as well.

1000 chips = 1 btc.

Let me answer in order...

Yes.
Paranoid? I am a bitcointalk member so.
No I do not use lifelock.
Mental health and poker, maybe you should see what real pro's are like in real life and at the table, mental health, that's funny.
I never expected anyone not to play, I only asked a question.

sherbyspark is a good example of a level headed person which one can have a discussion with, simply attacking and name calling someone you disagree with will only seem to work on the web.

@sherbyspark, I agree most are anon you are correct, I guess I just feel more paranoid knowing the owner si no longer the owner (why mislead us) and now the one online btc poker site I trusted never really existed the way I thought it did.

Awesome explanation. Thank you! This also explains why someone (on 0.01) just got to "0.96 (68)." Cool game, still learning but plan to give it a go soon, Smiley.

Ok cool, I was afraid my explanation was going to be totally confusing.   Smiley

Yeah OFC is a fun game.  The rules of how to play are pretty simple to learn.

And it's a cool game even for people that don't normally play poker since there is no betting, no calling or folding, no bluffing, etc.  Someone who is inexperienced or uncomfortable with regular poker because of those reasons can still play and do well at OFC.

The Chinese Poker page on SwCpoker.eu has a brief overview of how to play, how scoring works and how many points each hand is worth.

Thanks, Smiley. I'm still not getting the scoring of different hands, but I think I get the rest of it. For example, Gus Hansen has a great video up that explains how to play, but doesn't talk about the scoring. He just says that if your hand beats the other persons and you didn't foul, you either get:

1 point for win/win/lose
6 points for win/win/win

According to the SWC page, though, there's also individual scoring based on hands...

I'm sorta in the opposite boat.  I wanna make an account (to claim my old sealswithclubs account) but I don't have the OS to support the client.  In either case, I hope a working browser solution can come out soon.  We're already more than halfway through 2015.  I hope I can get back to bitcoin poker before 2016.

Yeah, you're right that you score regular points by having your row beat the other player's row.

But then there are bonus points called "royalties" for making really good hands.

For example, you get 25 bonus points if you make a Royal Flush on the bottom row, 8 bonus points if you make a flush in the middle row, 22 bonus points for having AAA on the top row, etc.  The harder it is to do the more bonus points it's worth.  It's an extra reward for getting lucky, and an incentive to gamble and try to make those tougher hands without fouling.

Ahhh, I think I get you now. So you're not really risking just 6 points per game -- it's actually a lot more (if someone's lucky).
