We bought units as we had money.  What's wrong with that?  We didn't have a set amount when we started.  We had enough to buy x amount of units so we did.  We got in when the announcement happened.  In the meantime, as we mined more we reinvested that income into more units (30-45 days typically to do this).

Believe us, if we could have put the amount of $ we've spent on pre-orders upfront we would of.  That's just logical.  But what I'm saying is we've invested as the money came along.  No debt. No maxxed out cards hoping to recoup the cost quickly.  This is a sound approach and we stand behind it.

I see, yes in that case - you've done it exactly as I would have. Like I said, at this point I'm choosing to diversify a bit with other hardware orders, just because I want to try them out and the longer the delay gets the more likely that one of the other makers will deliver first.

Don't get me wrong, I'd still love it if BFL ships first. But I'm not counting on that for maintaining my mining income.

I don't know, I'm pretty excited. Maybe they can make it even faster or release a version with more chips going forward. Smiley

So as you can see, BFL did, in fact, commission a developer to create software for the BFL devices.  It didn't really work out as well as they hoped, but by that time ckolivas et al had already added support to cgminer, so it wasn't really a big issue.  If it were, BFL would have figured out a solution, either by paying another developer or finishing EasyMiner.  ckolivas, Luke-jr, etc... put support in their programs for BFL because they were popular devices, not because BFL demanded or expected it.  It was already there by the time BFL decided to switch the focus away from Ufasoft.

Ufasoft miner's support of BFL will be improved when I will have physical access to some device. Remote debugging and performance profiling is slow and difficult process.

BTW: I have ordered a Jalapeno ASIC device, so hoping to add its support too.

It's cold and snowy here in Austria. I need something to cheer me up a lil bit.

So BFL guys - can you please tell me another fairy tale? Like this one:
Question: "But can BFL  maybe explain what exactly has caused the delay of a month?"
BFL-Engineer: "Board design and the chinese unusually long holidays caused the initial delay."

In fairness to BFL, they were talking about a completely different product line.

FYI: The ASIC Gods are making it snow again in KC. My only concern is that wouldn't this die off the locust larvae?

The snow is for transporting the ASICs to KC via rocket sled. All is well in Butterfly Lands.

I 'escaped' KC between 2 snow storms Smiley
Thursday shut down the whole of KC (and the airport), Friday (cancelled a lot of morning flights), Sat, Sunday still snow everywhere
(here's the snow still at the airport on Sunday http://198.245.60.111/Pix/StillThere.jpg )
Then a warning of possible a worse storm Mon Night/Tuesday ...
(Yes I'm back home now)

Irony?

No, he really seriously posted that. I am trying to figure out if what we're seeing is due to the camera being especially bad, lighting doing a one-in-100-trillion kinda thing or the dude in Cali getting really really creative.
