Wow never saw that IBM thing, pretty cool

As i said if that would happen 2 years ago, everyone would talk about it. Now is so many news that it just dont attract so much attention anymore.

This is exactly right If the utility of the network is increasing, then so it the economic value of the entire system, bitcoin has a really good run ahead, we are still correcting from the earlier bubble which had a valuation far outside of a reality, and are under price pressure from a stronger dollar which is depressing things further.

The main reason behind it is the competition bitcoin is facing from some other digital currencies like altcoins and this would continue in future too..but just remember daddy is daddy.. and it can never get dead as the financial gurus have said that it is the future currency.

Alts are by and large just as quiet or quieter than Bitcoin itself. New blood isn't exactly pouring in and the people who've been around a while have been raped too many times by alts.

I don't believe bitcoin is dead because the technology will always pave the way for new ideas but it certainly has lost the buzz and lustre it had before this year broke out. I think there is competition also emerging from new digital coins that might also be tough to compete with in the future but it isn't dead not at the moment just perhaps not very profitable to mine as it used to be in the early days.

Same here. I don't think it is dead or dying in the coming future and yes as you said bitcoin will definitely face the competition from the new entrants in coming future but it will not make it dead the only thing we need is the more usage of bitcoin from the people and the adoption from society.

To make sure society adopt bitcoin that is a hard part to do, even if there is so many proof but still people out there will think that bitcoin is a bad thing to do and they wont even have any connection with it. If this thing is happen in a long time and nothing to be done I dont think bitcoin will last long, if bitcoin die other crypto should be dead too

People who have sizable amounts invested in Bitcoin will be following it closely. They can't afford to be caught napping. Smiley

And maybe they depend on the price of bitcoin. Like now the bitcoin price is too low. So that they can say that bitcoin is dead or bitcoin price is not like the past price which high price.

I don't think so, but the price may be........

bitcoin is tied to its price, so if one die the other will follow, at best you could say that its technology will remain alive, even if it die, which could be used with another project in the future

99% of users of a technology aren't aware of how the technology works, as long as it does it job correctly. Therefore, all of this is a non issue for mass adoption, as long as we keep solving problems.

It will not die, the network effect is too strong for Bitcoin to die at this point. It's like saying Gold will die because of an huge crash. Bitcoin has no severe design flaws for it to be able to reinvent itself, even if doing so requires hard forks.

long as there is usage for Bitcoin, it will never die.
At worst, the price will drop a lot. But that will only hurt speculator and miner and not end consumer.

I think if Bitcoin price drop a lot, no one that use that again, so we need revolution about that or create a new one.

or create a new one.

If the pioneer of the crypto world, BTC, is dead, then there is no other point in creating a new one. If BTC dead, then it will create alot of havoc for the cryptoworld as well as to the other altcoin might suffer the same fate as well

long as there is usage for Bitcoin, it will never die.

Unfortunately most people measure BTC by its value and not its usagebility or perhaps the increasing of the blocksize which almost reach its 1mb / block limit. You can see that in speculations board that whenever the price got lower by few dollars there will be quite some people that are saying that it is dead and below is a good quote about BTC value though

Code:
Everytime bitcoin value goes up, people says its a bubble and everytime bitcoin value goes down, people says its dead

Bitcoin isn't likely to die soon on its own.  It is possible that the price will drop, an alternate digital currency will overtake it, or it will eventually collapse.  The Blockchain technology that Bitcoin is built on is likely to prosper on well after bitcoin as it can be applied to many other problems such as property ownership, drm, escrow, etc.

Bitcoin is alive. There is no doubt about it. But its continued existence is threatened by a number of factors. Increased governmental interference and the new Altcoin (Gavincoin or BTX) invented by Gavin Andresen are some of the serious threats to the existence of Bitcoin. That said, if Bitcoin survives these threats, it will emerge much stronger than it was ever before. That which does not kill us, makes us stronger (Friedrich Nietzsche).

I don't think you will be stronger if someone chops you he... hand off. Altcoins are constantly cutting into the Bitcoin share, so it may turn in the end that it will not be the much dreaded government intervention or prohibition that will put an end to Bitcoin but more robust alternatives...

Though I don't see any such coming even close to that as of now

Shitcoins have been trying to capture the market share of Bitcoin ever since 2011. So far, no one has been successful in doing that although they have managed to inflict some damage on Bitcoin. It might be too early to predict what will happen to BTX, but I strongly believe that in the end, it will turn out to be another Terracoin or Quark.
