I don't think you will be stronger if someone chops you he... hand off. Altcoins are constantly cutting into the Bitcoin share, so it may turn in the end that it will not be the much dreaded government intervention or prohibition that will put an end to Bitcoin but more robust alternatives...
Shitcoins have been trying to capture the market share of Bitcoin ever since 2011. So far, no one has been successful in doing that although they have managed to inflict some damage on Bitcoin. It might be too early to predict what will happen to BTX, but I strongly believe that in the end, it will turn out to be another Terracoin or Quark.

I guess, a killer coin should implement a decentralized exchange in its protocol (that would be a killer feature if done properly), have really fast confirmation times and cheap transactions (like those of Dogecoin) and not be dependent on any single entity for its support...

Yeah until they can mined and we use it, it will remain alive for a long time. This will be the future money and we will not using fiat money because of its risk. And also we need a easy transaction.

I`m sure it`ll become more of a money transmitter.

this only if you think that bitcoin was born to be an instrument for investors only and not as a currency too, the latter should be more important , so as long as people use it, you cannot consider its death anyhow

Not true, the trading activity couldnt be use to measure if BTC is dead or not. Basically trading activity will only stops when there is no quick swing gain which trader profitted from the movement anymore and it doesnt even matter if someone trades it or not.
The best measurement to know wether BTC is dead or not would be from the number of transaction occured each day and the transaction is getting higher day by day which is a sign that it is not dead yet but growing instead

To FUD-bitcoiners, Bitcoin has been dead for more than 70 times, so no need to worry about Bitcoin on a long term..  Cool

I know bitcoin has slumped 43 percent in the first weeks of 2015. 2015 is a rough time for bitcoin. But I don't think it's dead. All the other cryptocurrencies are going down with BTC, it's not like we're the only ones dying. I believe bitcoin can still have potential in the market because more and more people are using it. Whether it's private use, or commercial use, bitcoins is being excepted in a lot of places now. Once it stabilizes itself on the market, and becomes a more well known, everyday use, currency, then bitcoin can stay for a long time.  Wink

Yes I don't think it is dead or dying. The value has lower down at the moment but it doesn't mean that it is dead and the reason behind it is the adoption level is not too high at this point as many of the countries are still not aware about the concept of bitcoin once they start knowing what bitcoin is and start accepting it I believe the value of bitcoin would be more stable.

Its prices are down so everyone has started to believe that bitcoin is dead and the media is playing a major role in making bitcoin dead as they have the pressure from government to do so and people are very much influenced by media they just get carried away with the news without knowing the reality.

People should not think bitcoin is dead because it has a lower price. For a newcomer price doesn't matter really, he can just buy a bigger amount. It's sad if you wanted to resell higher, but made a bad investment decision however..

It cant be dead till people will hope in some worth of bitcoins. It is same like with "real" money now, you must hope that you can buy sometihng for them. So till there will be people with BTC shops, bitcoin will run probably. And these people you can see more day by day.
