People hate, I mean really hate, captchas. They do. Take a poll. They are annoying. Time wasters. When solved incorrectly it's frustrating.
Thank you for your advice, and I would "argue" you just made the argument why captcha should remain. People do hate captcha and that is why I used it. They would be so annoyed with using the captcha they would avoid entering the captcha by having more coins in their wallet. I believe in proof of concept, and after 8 months I can comfortably say the current system works. Is it perfect? No. Can it be improved? Yes. Will it be improved? Yes. Will we be able to please everyone? No. There is a delicate balance between miners and investors, and each have their own separate needs. I am glad to hear you are invested in Bytecent, and I hope you use some of your marketing experience to help get the word out about the project. FYI: In 8 months, less than 5 people have been "against" the captcha.

Hello, I wanted to try this coin today but after downloading the wallet and running it (with custom argument -datadir, which no offense but by now should be standard in any altcoin client setup ) i have 0 connections to the network , after 10 hours of running the wallet i am starting to believe i will never even connect to it .

You CAN use -datadir with our wallet. However, did you put a conf file in that directory with nodes? How can the wallet connect if you do not provide nodes for it to connect to?

Yes , content of the file as generated by client is : addnode=52.8.85.33 addnode=52.6.100.167 addnode=52.25.60.135 Still ,0 connections to network. And i agree you can use datadir with your wallet but would be nice if it could be managed durring installation or in wallet settings ,etc , for user friendliness Also Debug Log reads over and over : 2015-06-24 17:31:20 trying connection 52.8.85.33:55599 lastseen=234.2hrs 2015-06-24 17:31:20 connected 52.8.85.33:55599 2015-06-24 17:31:20 send version message: version 70008, blocks=0, us=79.113.14.226:55599, them=52.8.85.33:55599, peer=52.8.85.33:55599 2015-06-24 17:31:21 socket closed 2015-06-24 17:31:21 disconnecting node 52.8.85.33:55599 Best regards,

When you use a user specified data folder, you still have to create a new conf file and put the nodes in that file. Create a new bytecent.conf file and put it in your user specified data directory. Add these nodes to the file:

So you are taking 10+ PCs as a mark for usuall PC user, for wich are this coin intended for? Does we can still say then that everyone can mine this at home (how you say) and "earn"?
I have big headache from your questions,if you dont have anything what could actually help bytecent in sense of improve something or similar please ...odskakutaj u troskocima and go on another coin;)..hvala Probably you have POWA that you use wich is not good for small miner(s) and also dont know what happens when diff oges over 8.

When the trolls come out that is a signal to buy. I just purchased an Amazon card on bycrewards.com and it was super easy. I already accumulated 6 dollars I can use towards my next order.

Perhaps the Dev could chime on on what a Difficulty of 8 would do. I would need to review the white paper in detail to know for sure.
If the POW is based on finding prime chains, moving from a 7 chain to a 8 chain is roughly 12 times more difficult. So if you were finding 12 coins a day, as soon as 8 is reached you will on average find 1/12 of that which is 1.
Same thing from 6 to 7 or 8 to 9.
With Primecoin 8-9 in many ways killed mining. It was simply impossible at a difficulty of 9+ to mine and fine primes with that chain length.
Dev thoughts?

I am not the dev, but ive done some research on the matter, and my understanding is that the difficulty between whole numbers seems to act in a logarithmic manner. I may be wrong, but think that as the decimal part of the difficulty increases, so does the size requirement of the starting number of the prime chain, thus making the difficulty increase. Your math regarding the 12 * increase in mining dificulty between whole numbers seems logical to me. JJ

Are the cards restricted to US? It depends on what cards you select. However, if you use the US card and order from the US website, their shouldn't be a problem.

The wallet is not POS so no you don't need coins to stake. You do however need coins in your wallet equivalent to the POB to be able to mine longer than an hour at a time. ie 45 coins on one address would currently get you 2 hours mining with out re entering the captcha, 90 coins would get you three hours etc
