Hi so do people think it's worth learning chart tracking, technical analysis in order to sell and buy back Lower to increase my position. With all of these recent drops I feel I'm wasting opportunities because I've been told it's always better to hold. I value this strategy but would it not also be beneficial to maybe think about looking at some charts?

 I bought some alt coins when they were "crashed" to very cheap price line, that was a gift I think.

In my opinion holding is overrated you have to actively manage your investments, crypto is highly volatile. I'd say that in a bullmarket holding is just fine but not in a bear market. I sold everything off before shit hit the fan and I'm hearing stories everywhere of decimated portfolio's that are -70% or more. Unless you're willing to sit trough a bear market which can take years holding will work for you but if you care a little more about your investemnts and aren't sure if they will come out right then you're better of actively managing them. Having some more in-depth market knowledge sure can help.

If you can monitor it and your buying point will be reach. You could sell it and buy it on dip just to increase the size of your holding coins but if you can't monitor it is ok just make sure you will add your position when it goes dipped.

It's worth but the result will depend on your position and the crypto trend itself. As far as I know about the fact that crypto gets unpredictable movement. If you are wanna selling and then buy lower and never try to do that when the price get bearish trend or i can say if you will get a lot of lost. Only remember when it reaches bullish trend

i agree with you that technical analys can help you to predict the coins trend. But, it is not exact 100% because the cryptocurrency is a new market and it is not perpect. Its actiity depend on the information too much. Beside using charts and models, you also need to hunt the news in the market.

Only if you know what you are doing. It is good to do trading, buy low,sell high but not everyone is successful with it. It takes skills to do this. If you are willing to risk what you are holding so far, then go ahead. It is risky but also very profitable if you do it right.

when you sell it gets a profit, then sell it and put a buy order with a low price.
if you sell, but lose, better hold it and use other assets to buy back.

Knowing Technical analysis is surely useful if you want to take advantage of market swings and cryptos have huge swings. Just do not try going on margin/ high leverage and do not short. Those strategies are for very experienced traders.

Yes holding is the best way to make profits but analyzing chart is also beneficial so it is better to buy at low then if you think price will seek at high price then sell it. Then buy again at low price it can be.

I think it's too risky to sell when the bitcoin price is below $ 9000, it would be hard to buy back. Better to sell when bitcoin prices above $ 9000 and buy back when bitcoin prices below $ 8000.

of course it worth it but it requires time and effort to learn technical analysis in order to spot support level and resistance to increase your position. You can make more money by doing it but if you are wrong in your analysis you can lose quite a lot compared to just hold the coin.

One thing that I observe in this space is that human pshycology is more important than technical and fundamental analysis. I will suggest to have some fund in both fiat and BTC, because if the market is going to imporve soon, it iwill start with BTC price before the money move to Altcoin market

basically when the coin is down, then the best thing is to resist as strong as possible, but if you have the confidence and dare to speculate by studying the chart in a few days, then continue what you believe it, because every time you've played treding then the main key is always confident with yourself, if you are confident and sure if you want to sell or buy coins, please do it, even if the situation is down or unstable, all in return again in accordance with the belief you have

In the present condition of the market, the best option we have is holding and buy back when lowering only if you have money. We don't have any exact analysis how and when the market will recover because firstly bitcoin price should increase.

HODL - look at the original HODL post and that should tell you all you need to know.

Now you can not buy even lower, only on the minimum positions, because the growth goes though not quite noticeable. The main thing will be convinced of the correctness of your strategy, that you chose exactly those coins that will give you a profit.

It's worth :). Price chart analyzing is the most important skill that you need to learn if you want to become a good trader. If you know about price chart analyzing, you'll know when is the best time to buy or sell that will help you make perfect decision although it's being in crisis time and the whole market is painted in red. :). If you still don't know how to analyze price chart atm, I think you should take a course about it or you can try to use trading signal while you're learning this trading skill.

Holding is really advisable for those who have zero knowledge about the market but if you think you're good to do trading then so be it. For now just hold if you both on ath and keep on buying at a lower price, don't regret that because the price will surely pump again and make you gain more.

You can try to earn on pump & dumps of market, but u should understand that you can get loss or make little profit (sell right before coin gone to the moon).

The G20 is the most reasonable to sell with negative news to come out. Of course, if there is a positive opinion, it makes sense.

This can be done with coins with more than the high volumes. Especially on some days we can see price changes up to 20%. If you make the right trade at such times, you will get very big profit. You increase the number of coins in your hand to a large amount :)

Agree, this is what I do daily, trying to flip my coins to sell high buy low and rack in additional few coins each flip... but sometimes the market pump... just wait for it to drop back

i think when the market is dropping there are 2 methods as you said, one is hold, hold until the market recover, but that is only if the market drops in just a short term, so if it is longer, we can use the second way that is sell to cut loss and wait until the price low enough to buy back, but it also has the risk that we don't know the bottom to buy back or the price will keep dropping for very long time.

It is worth doing, you should never stop learning. As for current situation, I am waiting for a jump ( correction to bearish movement) and will sell rest of my coins,then I will be waiting for panic sell till 400$ for ETH and at this point I will enter the market

If you are holding make it sure always that you are aware if the value was getting low. Holding is not the bad strategy but make an productive strategy when you are holding bitcoin like now if you buy before high and still holding now, this is was low so this is time to add your investment in short buy, trade and est again for the future rising.

Go for martingale if you have more liquidity, i think its a good idea to buy a coin that you actually believe on the long run

It is always very difficult to determine the best option, it would be best to follow the evolution of the currency along with the graphical analysis.

For me i still holding all my altcoins that is in my portfolio and i am still waiting for their value to increase so that i can sell them in a fair rate for me to have a good profits in all of my holdings. And i am still buying some cheap altcoins in the market that i can doubled my money and earnings. And its the best time to buy altcoins that has big potential to growth in value when the time that they rise again.

Honestly, like some here, I think holding isn't much effective in cryptocurrencies. The chart moves by hours, even minutes. Holding some promising coins only gives you some profit. On the other hand, acttively trading, or so they say, day trading, is much more effective. Yes, there is a much bigger risk in day trading but also a promise of much bigger profits.

Only 3 months ago I entered this world of crypto coins, I bought some cheap altcoins, but they were not good for me and I decided to sell because the price just drops

if you believe in this system and think it will rise, you can invest. you can keep what you earn from the bounty of quality and team working projects. provided you sell it in the medium and long term. (at the top prices)

Good day! I admire those who knows how to read charts. It so confusing but it is also important that you know the history of the trades of the coins. Trades and prices just keeps repeating. That will give you the idea when to sell and when is the right time to buy. Of course other than charts there's other means to know bitcoin and alts movement.

The market is going down unusually. This made me very nervous. But if it was me, I would keep it. I would rather lose everything but I can not invest capital losses.

As always, monitoring and learning the chart trends of the crypto coin will always be an advantage for a trader. When you know how to analyze the flow of the crypto value, then you may know when will the increase nd decrease of its amount. So you can grab the opportunity when coin value goes higher and lower. I have a pretty similar situation at my end. I too had been following the HODL strategy, and even though it has its own benefits, but I am still unable to make any profits these days. Seeing the market crash and then recover a bit is definitely tempting. So, instead of selling my investments for loss, I have decided to put extra funds from my pocket and buy coins at a cheaper price (which is the current price). I am pretty hopeful that once the G20 summit ends, the market would see an upward trend since a lot regulatory laws for cryptocurrencies would be discussed over there.
Trading is lucrative no doubt, but requires in depth knowledge.

If you have high risk tolerance then sell and buy back but don't sell all your coins as sometimes after we sell the coins we are holding its the time they pump I don't know why.  ;D

I really don't kno if it can go any lower

I am still holding since a bought in ATH by december, If I will sell it now, I will lose a lot of money, by the time I buy in crypto, I have high hopes to hold in a very long time. No one knows what the future holds, maybe next month good news will happen.

I don't think it will get much lower than this. I believe we have just hit the bottom and now the regaining of previous peaks should start. There is no reason for current decline, seems like pure speculation.

I think better to hold coins and don't try to catch every market movement. It's less risky and you can more profitable because you cant lose you coins if you made wrong choose, what more than  possible in trading

You can play it at both ends, hodl a portion and liquidate another to trade with so you could buy lower.

In my own opinion, I can only tell you to sell and buy if you know how the trading market works because most times it quite hard to predict. If you intend to try selling when the price is high and buying when it is low after having calcuated your chart, there is a tendency of having quite a lot of gains but at the other hand; hold your coins if you don't know how the market works. So you don't loss.

If you bought those coins still at lower price before, then better to sell them if you think it will still dip and buy it again, but if you will lose when you sell it, then better hold since we don't up to what amount it will dip.

You should learn some TA and analyze graphs/market, etc. However, if you are a newbie trader I would not recommend to jump off from holding. You think you are missing opportunities right now, I see, but you are also missing high risk which is connected with trading. So be calm and save your money.

Chart tracking can be useful for the history of the prices but it is not a reliable tools to predict a market prices. The price can be dictated by the current situation and we can't force someone not to sell/dumps their tokens/coins as they have also a different strategy. You need to learn first how the market moves for a span of 1-2months so you will have the idea what should be the best strategy in a volatile market.

Well market is already at a severe dip, i think it will be very risky to sell now and trying to buy even lower, just follow the basic strategy that buy low sell high, so according to this basic rule it is time to buy not sell.

According to my experience, if you think this coin is promising, it is better to hold. I have lost many coins when I sold them out and then I can not buy them back since the price never returned.

actually it is a simple strategy of trading but the important thing is that you have to have many skills and knowledge know when to buy and sell.

It is quite difficult to say. For the good coins like Bitcoin Cash or ETH, it is better to hold for the long term.

charting should be learned by trader but for crypto market i believe there's not much of an impact because prices tend to rely on events and news, if your not ready for the game it's good for your interest to hold your existing coins but just think of it if you don't buy during dips you surely misses the opportunity to get profit yourself with this market condition.

Well, i bought a bunch of ethereums when the price was less than $300 each one of them, i have sold them at $800 a few weeks ago, and i am rebuying now.. Maybe it is not a big deal, but it worked for me.

Good for you, i don't know why people are easily getting bothered by these declining prices, if you know how to play the game then you will surely buy during those dips because in a bearish market you can only earn through short term investing.

Holding is like a tradional way for us to earn in long term however nowadays it seems like it is not working especially with this massive crash wherein we can't predict if the coin is worth holding and on the other hand,  sell and buy back lower is a good strategy however there's a high risk but once you got a good coin surely you will have good profit.

If you want to apply this strategy then you have to sell in the first dip itself that is a big red candle in 4 hour chart. After that you need to watchout for other candles. If the coin went down from your buy price then wait for a long candle with long down wig and rebuy after that because it might suggest some upward movement.

If you have practiced trading with fake money apps but on real markets and you have made some calls that have turned out ok and you also have a decent rate of making good calls, give it a go.

Selling when prices down is a loss but we also must be observant to see the market trend. If in your re-analysis, the price is likely to go down then "cut loss" is the right decision. If your analysis is correct then you will reduce or cover a much larger loss. You can also buy back when you feel you are at the bottom.

Yes, technical analysis is a good option for investing, however, if you are going to invest good amount then also do a proper research about the coin before taking any decision.

Talking about holding buying and selling in today's market then a wise thing to do would also be to get rid of your investments right now as due to the current glitches the blockchain tech is receiving for economies at scale and the backlashes it is facing by  major corporations it would be a wise thing to get out now and sustain fewer losses and come back when it is recovering

Trying buy back on lower prices you can miss train to south. That's why now if you already bought any altcoins you should hold it waiting for recovery of the market.

i think it is a good choice if you accept to cut your losses when target is dumped below 10% of your asset and buy back again in the future as long as the price gets low,  however, you will have to choose a right time to sell because not thing can be profitable, so i believe it would be better if you choose to hold your coins for long term rather then trading everyday.

I held my Bitcoins till $11,500 and sold them immediately after it formed a double top pattern. Still holding many altcoins like ETH in loss. What I suggest you now is to HODL till it forms a double bottom pattern. If this is successful then we might see one more rally. If it breaks that then sell and enter again at lower price.

And then there will be even more doubts and you will decide to sell. It is better not to analyze anything, because it does not work now, it is expected as well as last year that the rise of all coins will come in a month, then it is worth densely considering all the indicators for each coin in the portfolio.

perhaps if you're really experienced it could help but I think crypto often doesn't behave as the trend analysis is indicating. That said I wish I knew more about it. knowledge is never a bad thing.

if you know your coins will decreasing you shoul sell and buy back lover. It is meaningless to hold decreasing coin. but nobody knows that. It is better to do gradual process.

in my opinion hold is very dangereus and it is not profiting. I think it is more reasonable to sell it from the top and buy  it from the dip. I think this is logical

I'm curious, if you were looking for advice along these lines, what what signal to you that the person responding knows there stuff? There is so much misinformation in this space, so what helps you filter for real experts?

We know how volatility getting strong in the market today. We cant figured it out holding to long may give us something in return cause there are so dumpers around and it ruin market everyday. Hope someday they might realize their doings.

Maybe you can sell half your assets only and use half of it to buy at a cheaper price. maybe it can cover the losses you get. but you have to make sure after you do cutlose, you buy at a cheaper price. don't let after you sell the price is getting up lol. do mature calculations first dude

Good question!  ;)  I think holding isn't much effective sometimes if you think in short term. If you can hold for few years then definitely there will be a good profit at the end. check the top 10 coins values in last year few years and compare with now.  Based on the projects and other news related to crypto currency market we can decide whether selling coins or not at this time. but it is not easy task. Finding top and button of the chart is the most difficult task.

What your thinking is right. The very reason why we are here in crypto is to earn. If you think selling would be beneficial for you then go for it as long as you won't regret it. Waiting for the crash will be the right time to purchase again. Just like what you said, learning how to track the market is very important.

I do not find it appropriate to invest in looking at the graphs..
I think it would be more useful to follow the news about the projects instead.

for me it will depend on the crypto you are holding, cause some of the cryptos now is already too low that im figuring out if it can go down more. but for me if you dont need the money, its better to hold.. rather than selling and losing profit from it then buy back again but the prices never go lower that the price you sell.

Nowadays it is a good idea to just invest in almost whole coins cause their prices are that low that even a small pump can give you some income and profit from those investments.

selling and buying when prices are low. this will be very risky, because we will never know when the coins go down and up. it would be better to grasp and sell coins when the price above will give you an advantage even though it will be a little longer. than you are in a hurry so you do not benefit from the coins you hold.

I think that immidiate selling is good in terms of this market - got your tokens - sell as fast as you can because the price will fall even more.

Trying to buy back lower you could miss your chance and you will just fix your loss. That's why personally I just HODL all my assets and sell them only with profit. Also I the precent days it is better to hold. Because according to TA (and I believe it) in the second half of this year we will see hard rise of whole market and it will update historical maximum.

There are different scenarios.
For example, if you have the time to research, order, sell then sell and buy back lower.
If not, then just HOLD. Cuz even when you buy lower, it can go even more, and you'll get hella sad lol

This suggests that it is very difficult to predict the real behavior of the market. I would advise you to trade intra day and not buy coins for long-term storage now. IMO.

It depends on your skills are you any good at reading the charts? Are you any good at predicting how the market is going to move? If you are then there are profits waiting for you and holding may not be the best choice for you but if you do not have the talent then the only thing that you can do is to hold and wait for the market to recover.

Buying and selling activity specially on trading do really require specific skills and cant really be easily attained by anybody since this kind of skills would really be profitable for longer run. Day active trades can make money if it executed well. Ive been still practicing this thing even though i commit loses but just still fine because i do learn up from my mistake and i know that sooner or later i will get this trading technique.

Typical long term holding, this is when you kept holding and buying the dips without even selling a bit. Although I didnt say that its not profitable, but long term holding means long term profit earned. Whereas, when you can actively manage to play with the price, like buying the dips and sell during temporary pumps. I guess it could be very profitable if you learn to practice and master the skills of trading procedure.

I think selling now and waiting for some lower price is not a good idea since the crypto market just started its bullish move. If you sell now thinking the price is low, you may never get a low price for another one year. May be in January 2019 you could expect a low price due to Chinese holidays.

I hold to die so i will not sell and buy back with lower price. In first few months in crypto, i always sell and wait to buy with lower price, the reuslt i lost more than 30% because of doing so. Now, i hold and close my account everytime the market crash.  ;D

I agree with learning technical analysis. Surely some people have been thinking of looking at the charts and decided to learn it because of the recent bear market. Well it's always good for a holding. but if the market shows the signal of crash which cause any coins price drops then it's better to sell and buy again at the lower price(buyback), because you will get more coins.

I will hold all the coins I have if the price is still very low. Then I will resell if the price has touched a very high value in accordance with what I target. And as long as the price goes down then I have the capital to buy, I will definitely buy those coins more.

Holding does not guarantee to give you profits but I never guaranteed that in my post, but in your second point you are mistaken holding does protect you from the volatility of the market this has been proven many times and those that hold for the long term have greater chances to profit from their investments and to suffer less losses, so if you play with the probabilities and hold then your chances of making money go up.

Yes this is very helpful put a stoploss always like a 10% below from your entry point if you are going for short term. But it always depends on your plan me I don't do stop loss because I always look for long term that's why no matter what happens I am a hodler. Goodluck everyone.

holding the coin in the downtrend is good especially if you are late to cut loss your coin and you can buy back the coin in the lower price. this is the only things that you can do right now. but you need to always check the price before you do something because this will help you to analyze and think about what you should do at that moment.

when I am stuck at a very expensive price, what I will do is wait until the price rises again, I will never be affected and sell at a very cheap price because I know it really makes you lose, if you still have trading capital then well you can buy it as much as you can.

For me i suggest to hold it but if you have a lot of capital you can buy back at dip price but it is your own decisions its up to you whether you want to sell now and buy back again

I hold and when I think I could sell to buy back Lower I do it but it could be a high risk if it doesn’t drop anymore but instead goes up . If you have enough money, you can try two options at the same time. Suppose, buy a certain number of tokens (you can buy even not a large number) two times. Right now users won't get the chance to sell and buy back much lower. Users could have sold when the price went above $7500. This has been an expected price fall from experts point, one who has sold by that point has got the much lower buy back opportunity as the price has fallen much low within a weeks time before the start to recovery.

today, we can buy back lower in bitcoin and ethereum because the price is down too deep and it still going down. but if we don't have money, then we can only watch the price moves and hope that it will increase back in the next week. since bitcoin price is down, I think it will give effect too to the other coins so it is better to prepare if somehow the altcoin is getting down too.
