I believe, like many, that this year will be very good for the crypto world. Assuming that the adoption of cryptocurrencies increases considerably this year, is it possible to see Ethereum surpass the $1400 mark?

I could see a small possibility of that happening with crypto markets being as volatile as they are, though this year's certainly starting off with a somewhat bad note after Bitcoin's fall into the $7000s and altcoins mostly following behind similar to Bitcoin's price action. It does also seem like the strongly bearish trend most cryptocurrencies have been in might be in the process of reversing at the moment.

There's also way more factors that play into crypto prices rising than simply adoption, not to mention that it's basically impossible to predict this far out if something's going to hit X dollars in the future.

I do not see that happening, unless perhaps bitcoin does 150 or 200%.
The odds on etherum is so low that, it rarely has a massive growth, its been a while it reached even 750 $

ETH is currently around 163$ divide 1,400 to that number then you are expecting an 858% increase for Ethereum this year. Now I wouldn't say that number is possible but this kind of increase will all depend on how Bitcoin will move this year since Ethereum as of right now has no known catalyst unlike BSV where it can jump more compared to BTC right now because of Craig Wright being in the headlines of major crypto news outlet. So if you expect ETH to rise then expect BTC to carry it along not unless it has a catalyst of its own.

It is hard to answer it. Ethereum has a great potential and it is using DeFi applications anymore. A lot of Ethereum or ETH tokens are using for DeFi credits. Also there is a rumour about ETH emission after POS integration. I red from some blogs, it is written ETH emission will be set as 100K /a year. As you already know, Ethereum is limitless. And ETH is creating by miners a lot of number of coins now. If there will be limit for a year, I think it easily overtake 1400$.

Looking at it this way are very high values to reach, however, I agree bitcoin will be an important piece in the movement of the altcoins at least at the beginning of this year

It will be a good year but having a high prediction for Ethereum @ $1,400 , let's be real that the chance is slim to see it at that price. What's your aim for Ethereum? It's a good prediction and giving yourself an optimistic price for it but seems to high.

But still no one can see the future and if the market goes crazy into bull run again, we might possibly see it. And as a counter measure, you shouldn't count and expect for that price and maybe a little lower will do like around $300-$400.

The fact is that altcoin markets seem to pick up the most when bitcoin is stable and at around its peak. And judging from past performance, what BTC usually does is that it generally peaks at around 1 year after the halving.

So this year, despite still being bullish, shouldn't be overly so. I'm not sure either of the magnitude of the bull market this time round since that the market is substantially more mature now.

there has been no great step this in the ethereum market ,once again ethereum has not yet had a moment for its rise ,I still think there are a number of other factors sh*ttoken too as well as one of them with a dump on their prices which will have a negative impact on ethereum well it has not been able to crash wall again ,just my assumption and maybe I'm wrong and hope I'm wrong because I want to see ethereum rise again

I dont think that ETH will be able to refresh his ATH because ICOs are not popular nowdays and there are a lot of projects which are much better technically than ETH. For example Tomochain has much more possibilities than ETH

I don't think so, if Ethereum can reach a price range of $500 this year, it is a great feat. The demand for Ethereum is gone, what is helping it now is the Defi and most of these DEFI platform have started add more tokens to their collateral because they know they can't just keep their eggs in one basket.

It is possible but we should not expect it. When Ethereum reached $1,400 the last time, it did not take a whole year. We are yet on the starting line. There is still a lot of time left in 2020. Ethereum, being the most trusted altcoin, it can easily break expectations but it is better not to set anything too high or else we end up disappointed.

ETH is not so interesting without ICO. But with the overall growth of the market, there will be growth. Last year there was a trend of BNB growth.

I dont believe in history doesn't repeat itself. Why not possible? Eth is a strong platform and they plan to upgrade a lot this 2020. Unfortunately, ETH is too much attached to ICO by a lot of people. Well, ETH is more than just ICOs. ICOs is not ETH. ICOs are initiative of new crypto projects, many of whom are deciding to use the Ethereum platform, because of so many reasons. But with the majority of the new crypto projects choosing the Ethereum network it simply means that the network is the best in the market in terms of token creation and smart contracts. Even if the ICO is now very weak, ETH remains very strong.

I agree, ETH is a very breakthrough platform, but unfortunately the coin price depends on ICO.  Now the price goes to $180, while it lags behind the top 10 coins in growth.

I doubt that can happen, even though all the possibilities can happen at any time. I would be sure to say that can happen IF bitcoin has reached a price above 13k usd, if it is still below that price then expect ethereum prices at 1.4k in my opinion will be a little difficult to achieve. this is just my personal opinion based on the hesitation I see in market conditions.

Op, I think you already know the answer to this. ETH can only go to that level only if the main crypto which is btc will pump so hard but I think Eth devs should do something to make it independent.

Its hard for Ethereum to reach above $1000 this year, You need to have at least 32 ETH in order to earn the staking rewards which is quite more compared to other staking coins. It might reach more than $500 but $1400 would be total exaggeration.

No. $1400 is almost 10x of current ETH price. That's just delusional in my opinion. You can be bullish in crypto right now as 2020 is looking good so far but expecting 10x of a big market cap altcoin isn't bullish but crazy. No matter how big the adoption increase, that just won't happen anytime soon. Besides, most people already know crypto and even probably have get rekt from the 2018 pullback after FOMOing in 2017.

For $300, last year, it was near to that price but yeah it struggled to even hit it but as I have suggested we should just expect a little bit lower.

32 Ethereum, worth about $ 6,000. So it's not impossible for today. There will already be many opportunities for soft staking in the future. So those with less Ethereum will also be able to somehow be more in the staking process.

I think the key point here is about Ethereum emmision. If it will be a limit for release annually as 100k ETH, it would be $1400 easily.
Otherwise, it is hard to see new ATH.

If Ethereum will go to at around $1400 this year, Bitcoin must top its previous ATH which is near $20,000 since at that time when Bitcoin is near on that price Ethereum is at around $1300. Now we know already that the price of Ethereum will depend on the price of Bitcoin. The question is will Ethereum reach $1400 this year.

There is a bit of a chance (at around 1-5%) that it will happen. I know some are saying nahhh it will not happen but for me, I always see both sides. Even though this is still far right now, if Bitcoin slowly increases all throughout the year many coins will follow and Ethereum will be one. There is still a possibility for it to happen but by a low percentage.

In my opinion, Ethereum is one of the most promising cryptocurrencies with breakthrough technology. It’s scheduled many upgrades and improvements in 2019-2020 including the change of consensus method, conversion to PoS, a hard fork that will increase the block times and others. If the team succeeds in implementing it, the price will go indeed high. I think Ethereum can easily reach $2,000 in this case. That is so possible, but we need a real run or big run up for ethereum along with bitcoins bull trend. i also believe that the time that bitcoin breaks the bear trend from the recent 2019 run the money keeps going and folling the bulls as almost all alts on the top are making its high amd havig some moves right now.

I think even when bitcoin reaches important milestones in value, eth's price is still hard to keep up with the pace of bitcoin because looking at the last time, the value of bitcoin reached $13000 while ethereum's value was still relatively low, it does not have any reaction that is consistent with bitcoin. If you are looking at the realistic prices then there is no way the price of Ethereum reaches those levels when the price of bitcoin rallies to its previous all time high simply because the investors will be quick to dump the alts and invest into bitcoin to ride the rally and make the maximum benefit and that being the case it is hard to imagine that the price will rally because of the use case of ETH.

I'm not expecting too much but I have my hope that Ethereum would reach a good value this year. Last year wasn't the best year for altcoins but Ethereum remained consistent. I'm sure that it could even go more especially when Bitcoin and the whole market situation get better. I think it's just too much to expect that it could reach that certain amount too quick, it will take time for sure.

I am also hoping for it to happen. If bitcoin makes a bull run, there is a high possibility that it will pull altcoins as well to a new height just like what happened in 2017. But that is also subject to how the world will accept Ethereum 2.0 which is the POS.

if ETH wouldn't update to POS i think eth can go more than $1400, probably even $2K+. that POS will solve the scalability as they said it will but its not going to help its price go up. look how the price had dropped when they announced the fork. if ETH will remains as is with POW, the better its price will be. Vitalik sent the message that its meant to be POW but with POS it means ETH will be earned easily and can be dumped right away.

I think someone is expecting a new ATH of ETH this year but the last ATH of ETH happened only when Bitcoin is in the bull run. And I don't think there's a bull run this year even if you say there's a Bitcoin halving because the post-halving effect will only happen after almost a year from the halving month.

Looking at the way charts are looking, the only way eth could ever reach back those days if they can manage to do their hard fork successfully without any bugs or problems in the code at all and people like it so much that they end up buying and storing a lot of ethereum without selling.

Moving something as huge as ethereum towards staking is advantageous for people who want the price to go up because when ethereum becomes PoS, many people will buy it and increase the price but instead of selling after price went up, just keep on holding it for the "interest" they are getting with staking. That is why with staking I think price will go up but all of that depends on when eth will have a successful hard fork that changes it to PoS and will people really love it like we imagine they will.

Base on the previous market trend of the year of bitcoin halving every good altcoin usually make an outstanding surge in price once the bitcoin market is in bullish state and with this characteristic with or without the Ethereum fork, Ethereum will still experience some positive trends. Although, the PoS will be an inclusion feature which will make Ethereum price more better in the market.

The DASH coin also brings in a stacking. It only takes a lot of money to buy a master coin. 32 ETH is $5408 (32X169) at the current rate, it's cheap. It's likely to pull the price up.

Anything can be possible in the crypto market, staking program for ETH is not released yet because maybe many people will start staking ETH and this makes the price of ETH coin will surely increase in the market. We don't the price, but everything depends upon the market conditions.

Ethereum in dec 2017 crossed 1k$, since then its wasnt able to fly like other altcoins. But if we have a bull run again like of dec 2017, ethereum still has the potential to cross 1k$. Nobody can say whether this year it will cross 1k$ or not but it will surely one day.

This year I haven't seen any big possibility in Ethereum to hit 1400$! It is easy to predict a high price as the whole year is beyond us! But I want to stay in reality! But the result will depend on how much annual yield will be offered by doing staking on ethereum platform. We know that if we become masternode in-dash and that will be much more valuable. I don't think so. For the past few months, ethereum did not make it well. Even when the bitcoin pumping days, ethereum stayed calm. It is really stable and it reached only up to 200 dollars. However, I am also optimistic about the future price of ethereum. Especially that this is my favourite alt also. It may become 1K dollar soon.

It is a huge task to completely transform the entire network successfully and fork without any bugs and so is the reason they are planning to take these transformation as a step by step process as the team behind know about the huge risk they are undertaking and that means we will not see the complete fork as they planned.

It is a wet dream they have right now to think that there will be a huge investment in the coin to stake and make their investment idle. That era where investment mostly being held using this coin already passed it's popularities but there's still chances that once Bitcoin start to jump high mostly this coin also being pump and follow Bitcoin movement. We don't know and there's no assurance what future will bring to this project only time will tell if this momentum will be achieved.

A lot of speculation about what price of eth could reach this year. Price could possibly increase below $1k but we really don't know if this year could reach more than $1k. About popularity on eth we cannot tell this early if its over but once there is an event to happen price could pump in the market.

I think that ETH will obviously be worth more than $800 in time, because its ATH is about $1500, I think in time we can see ETH at $2000.

The possibility of ethereum reaching the $1400 target hinges on Bitcoin reaching the over $20,000 target. On a serious note, this is quite logical and possible this year considering the bitcoin halving and ethereum 2.0 which is expected to hold this year and could be instrumental to the price increase.

Looking at the current price chart of Ethereum at this very moment of the year 2020, Ethereum's price is currently playing at $160+ which is too far far the price prediction or expectation you are looking forward to be the price of Ethereum for this year round. Although that can be possible to make happen since we are just getting started and the first month of the year 2020 is just about to end so we do still have 11 months to spend with, I think there will be lots of happenings that can take place which might trigger the improvement of the price of Ethereum to get into a pump this year. I am not saying that the price mark will be enclosed into $1,400 but it can be possible  to be close to that value. But as of the moment, we can never tell through prediction because there are still a lot of possible things to happen that can contribute to the increase or the other way around. Let us just all hope for the best things to happen not just for Ethereum but as well as for the whole cryptocurrency.

I'm not disclosing it since it is already been reached before but the current market flows looks so different at this time. We're not in the bullish yet and we are still far from December ends, therefore there is still a chance to make another high but think of $1,400 is quite (really)high.
I even just hopes that Ethereum price will reach $500, this is good enough for investors and traders to bring back their losses in the previous years when the market turns down badly.

The improvements graph of Ethereum network increasing rapidly and it's my estimate it could touch $500 or more in the second quarter of this year but touching $1400 mark looks quite difficult this year because of the tough competition which is going to be happen this year but I hope Ethereum can be a decent coin this year to make profit.

You cannot bet on a coin by looking at their all time high valuation, if you look at the alt coin market all the coins in the market are down from their all time high valuation but that does not mean that it will climb to their peak valuation, you have to take into account the ICO rally when the market started to pump to those levels and it is clear where those projects are and that trend is done and dusted and you have to take into account all these things.

Current price of etherum would never allow us to see etherum on the target you set. Etherum was one of the top performing cryptocurrency of all times but slowly and steadily they are losing their demand. Etherum has also made a lot of investors stand in the circle of loss after the bull runs vanished from the mid 2017.

A lot of people have already bought etherum that time when they were on peak which never showed that value until now. It's because those IEO is simply just like it's predecessors ICO, just another pump and dump investment scheme. But as far as Ethereum, well it did reach their all time high in 2018, and I still think that it can achieved even greater prices in the future.

It's only $1400, if btc would reach an ATH of $50,000, I am sure, ETH price will likely hit that price, I am sure it will happen but not sure when it will happen.

1400 looks impossible even bitcoin worth more than 5x and the current price of ethereum will be worth around 700. Well the year is starting and there's many days, week and months to see the price of ethereum in that kind of amount but of course no one can predict every situation especially the price of every coin in the market. Hopefully this year will be great and we see that eth will back in the highest price.

Market never is aggressive until they actually are, doesn't mean it will never be neither. When ethereum or any other coin goes up, it doesn't give you a signal beforehand and let you know a month ago, it happens suddenly and before you know whats going on the price suddenly reaches a new high. That is why price could still be 1400, if until December there won't be anything major going on and in December 2020 the price is still around 150-200 levels and you come up and ask me if the ethereum price could be 1400 that year I would still say yes, sure it will be less possibility of that happening and I get that but I would still say its "possible".

If you could see how ETH moves side by side, ups and downs, and being independent on bitcoin movements you can eventually think that ETH never reaches so high this year. The current market flow isn't so strong to push the market for a big jump. May it was so early and it all been unpredictable but I'm not positive that we reach to even $1k ETH price for this year.

I can't see a return to the ATH this year, that is too optimistic. But ETH has a strong team and a carefully planned roadmap, and they are progressing. Ethereum is not doing that bad, this was a good rally for them and I am seriously hoping for it to continue going up but honestly I am not 100% sure it could. Not that it won't but it couldn't. I agree with you that everything is possible and ETH will someday hit another ATH but it all depends on BTC pumping.  Question is, will BTC hit a new ATH this year?  Once the BTC market is saturated, excess funds will spill towards alts and may grow faster than BTC at that point (note just % growth I am not saying value).  ETH being the strongest alt will definitely benefit the most at that time.

Ethereum has been working on this since early 2016 and even late 2015 if you consider the conception phase as well, it is going to take some time and we should be all a bit calm about it. The closes estimate puts it in 2021 so there is at least a year to go for the proof of stake ethereum but even with that in mind I see it like late 2021 or even 2022 for something like that to happen.

We are talking about a whole billions of dollars worth of money to change the system how it is printed from mined to staked so I am pretty sure they are allowed to take their time just in case they don't mess up anything. The amount of profit we would all make when it goes to proof of stake or the money we will be making WITH proof of stake all could be gone if they mess up one thing.

I just read somewhere else that Bitmex will be launching futures for ethereum, that means people will be capable of profiting when ethereum price goes down.

I don't think so because the value of ETH has dropped a lot compared to two years ago, and during this period the coin didn't have much improvement. In my opinion, you should refrain from investing in this coin and look for a better alternative as ETH only increases when the ICO investment trend returns. Some of the options that I have for you are coins like BNB, HT, Dash because these are three coins till now still growing actively in recent years.

Let's be real, I don't think the price of ETH would be as high as $1400. In January, 2020 ETH started trading at $139 per coin but in the mid February the price peaked at $279 this happened due to Enjin launching its game development platform on the Ethereum network but for the time being the biggest potential for ETH now lies in the upcoming Ethereum 2.0 update.

That's right, nothing is impossible in crypto space. But BTC needs to start the bull trends so that top alts like ETH can make huge price movements. Thus we can see that much price jump in any years and all now depends on the btc price movement because all the top altcoins follow the bitcoin's price movement. Honestly, the price of Ethereum won't reach the $1400 price range and i also want you guys that Enjin launching there game app on Eth network wasnt actually the reason why ETH peaked to $279 during February because it post halving effect that make almost all potentials crypto surge during that time.
With that been said, if the pandemic effect with during market manipulation still exists in the market ETH2.0 will barely make ETH surge in price.

It's never easy to break the ATH, ETH alone can't do it, it needs some cooperation with Bitcoin as market is only moving when bitcoin is at bullish mode.
Unless it will break the trend, then we might see ETH rising while bitcoin remains neutral or stagnant but it's not likely to happen IMO.

Im not even sure when POS will be fully adopted by ethereum and EVM migration into the eWASM will bring a lot of impact to the price of ethereum. If ethereum can reach $500 and that's more than enough to see the price will remain stable at such rate.

To become $1400 this year, that's so hard and i think almost imposible or imposible at all. I dont see any sign for that. Before ethereum can pump so high, bitcoin should precede that, but no sign too. $1400 is ethereum ATH, for now, i think need miracle to reach that

With all the negative that happens in our society because of this COVID crisis, All countries are having financial issues, the economy is down. Some investors prefer to buy food and everything for their families, So I guess it will not happen this year. But bitcoin sometimes is having an unusual pump it is unpredictable for sure ETH will follow and other Alcoins if that will happen, bitcoin dominance is really big right now so the influence of bitcoin matters.

It is really hard to think about that, as you above said ETH can not reach this price till end of the year. For ETH to reach this price the event of the market must change, BTC should rise up, and then some problems like Covid-19 must be solved. The effects of the corona virus have certainly been felt in the market. You can see if you check a little better. The market will run on its own, but of course the problems of the world will have some effect on any market. Currently some altcoin has risen to the top. Only the prices of the top coins have not changed much. It also contains eth.

From what i have read only  Few claims about this and many are still positive about the possible Growth this year end?

For me it is not yet possible to see that the price of the Ethereum reach $1400 per each because there are too many resistance and the price cannot easily surpass it. The price of the Ethereum is also doing some sideways like the price of the bitcoin, its been a 3 months when its price is starting to consolidate but the good thing is it have bullish bias so any moment it can break the resistance at $250 per each and able to make new higher highs.
