101  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Storj - Decentralized Storage on: October 20, 2019, 08:55:18 PM
How minning and run setup storj?

It has some high uptime and upload-rate requirements and you also need to apply in a waitlist.
Read more about it here: https://storj.io/sign-up-node-operator/
102  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Ethereum: Welcome to the Beginning on: October 20, 2019, 06:16:45 PM
Well, I kinda agree with you using blockchain on in-game purchasing would be a game-changer. But I still think once ETH gets converted to the PoS mechanism we would see some good price movement. Maybe after that something innovative will follow lol
Actually, I'm quite intrigued on what will be the effect of PoS mechanism once its implemented regarding to its price movement and project growth overall. But, honestly, is there any timeline on when this will be implemented? I know that there are technical challenges but why are they taking so long?

Hey, I'm not negative regarding my comments. I just wanted some additional information regarding the planned POS mechanism.  Wink

As far as I know, they are planning to launch the phase 0 of ETH 2.0 on Jan 3rd 2020. As to why they are taking so long to I have no idea lol.

If you want to know more maybe you can read this article by the cointelegraph.

I could tell you examples of several coins that went from Proof of Work to Proof of Stake here in Bitcointalk but they are all mostly mining pump and dumps. The scheme was coins were either pre-mined, allocated or developer-biased mining. Miners mine for the first two weeks or so and then switches to PoS. Of course, because the insider miners received the most coins, they pump up the coin in Bittrex or Poloniex upon coin listing and then dump their large stacks onto unsuspecting buyers. But in ETH's case, it is already years of PoW before switching to PoS. I think at first there will be hype and then back to the old prices.

The phenomenon of pump & dump doesn't necessarily have to be always caused by evil actions of insiders.
Any coin starts with only a few coins, but if it becomes famous people will rush to buy it the moment it touches an exchange, driving the price insanely high.
This is what happened with GRIN, I was there since the beginning and I show the craze unfold.

So, just as you guessed, I also believe there'll be an initial hype/price pump and then the realization will hit and the prices will return to the previous levels.

Ripple CEO: Our Transparency Has Opened Us Up to Attack

“10 or 100x more transparent than anyone else in crypto”

https://cointelegraph.com/news/ripple-ceo-our-transparency-has-opened-us-up-to-attack

Interesting article. One of the thing that stood got me was this quote: "Overall, Garlinghouse estimated that Ripple sells XRP at 10 basis points of daily market volume — i.e. 99.9% of XRP volume is not connected to Ripple"

That is simply astonishing because effectively it means people are trading XRP but it is not being used on Ripple (ie for transations).

Have I understood that part correctly?

Though I cannot comment on the exact numbers nor do I know how did they come up with those percentages, there's one thing I know.
Ripple doesn't sell XRP on the market (meaning, through exchanges), instead they offer them to their customers as part of their deals.
I believe this has a positive effect to the overall price, though their customers might be able to sell their XRP at some point... I don't know!

Hello.
I'd like to let you know that this week I'll be unable to fulfill the minimum required posts because of real-life reasons.
If you choose to keep me in the campaign, I'll continue being active next week.

It's been a long time since I posted a comment on Bitcointalk lol

I would like to announce the publication of the paperback book 'ARK Ecosystem - Point. Click. Blockchain.' on Amazon.  It is a chronological narrative of ARK events from early September 2016 to 9th July 2019.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1699908885/ref=dbs_a_def_rwt_hsch_vapi_taft_p1_i0

If you have any questions, please feel free to message me on here or at Twitter @CryptoBooksAlt

This is awesome man! I hope that the ARK team will consider rewarding you for this.
106  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ARK - DPoS with Dynamic Fees 🔹 New CORE v2🔹 ARK Deployer 🔹 on: October 11, 2019, 09:50:55 PM
ARK went back to school this summer to teach students from the University of Maribor in Slovenia all about blockchain development. Learn more about the PARKanywhere project they built and meet our newest contributor Žan!

Read more at https://blog.ark.io/ark-blockchain-school-students-learn-blockchain-development-8ea5b85618ac

All this investment into educating people and getting the brand name of ARK known, will pay out in the long term!
ARK is taking slow but strong and sure steps on their marketing, I like how they don't waste resources for hyping but focus on what's important.
This is also for everyone's best interest.

They don't cause centralization.
Really? So you think that one person/group controlling 1000s of mining machines where they can achieve more than half the hash rate isn't centralization?

nope.
I see.. Well either you're not all that bright since that's exactly why Satoshi designed what he did, or you have an ulterior motive for spreading that fallacy. Either way, not like it really matters since it's all going to end up being centralized so good luck to you.

What is that difference between 1000s of mining ASICs, 10000 of mining GPUs and 5 people controlling half of the coins in a PoS system?

For as long as there are poor and rich people, centralizion will keep occurring in one form on another.
What is the difference between cryptocurrency and central bankers shitting money out of thin air?

If a currency can not exist without being controlled by a few, then its not a currency, its shit.

Miners, hardware, electricity, ups the stakes significantly compared to PoS, which leads faster to centralization and shitcoins.

You might believe Bitcoin is decentralized, but it's not much better than altcoins.
Thanks to BTC's aggressive halvings, the few who knew about BTC in its early days obtained more than half of its supply in less than 4 years... way to go for a system which hopes to stay around for a long time huh?
We've currently mined 85.70% of BTC, what will happen when there'll be no more interest to mine it?

On this regard, GRIN's system is safer and more decentralization-friendly.
108  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling risk is higher when we are on Bear Market? on: October 11, 2019, 07:13:46 PM
One of the most important and decisive factors in gambling is the psychology.
If you try risk your money when you're in such a situation as the hypothetical muster John, then you're more likely to make illogical decisions and waste your money.

With minus 40 reputation points, maybe you should just abandon this account and stop trying to defend yourself?
If you had really protected people, I'm sure there would be some known people with proof about your assistance.
And I don't count anonymous newbies as proof.
Are you brain dead or a signature spam bot?

I posted it one post above your post! Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

Over the time GP and I have sent each other more than 100 emails concerning several issues and scam cases of Curacao based books.

Yep, I've read almost the whole thread, not just one sentence which you quoted.
I noticed how you've posted a part of a conversation but no proof you've returned the money you had promised to this user.
He also posted a scam accusation against you and even though you're suggesting that you've come to a deal, he had confirmed nothing.

If I'm missing something, please enlighten me (without funny comments about my brain unless you've measured my IQ).
110  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 8 reasons to start playing blockchain games on: October 11, 2019, 03:54:40 PM
The most reasonable and attractive way to start playing blockchain games is if you can earn tokens or coins in games, for example adventure games if you can beat a boss you get paid or military shooters where they put wanted list on a terrorist and if you can hunt him down you get paid, it will be awesome
Obtaining free tokens is fine at some extent, but if the game is giving away too much freebies, then there will be no value in these tokens after a little time.

There must be a balance and the harder and more expensive it is to obtain an asset, the more value it has.

I read the thread, but I did not see any scam that happened July 2019 Huh

How did the scam happen exactly?

Or do you mean assisting online casino victims is scamming them? Like killing is kissing in your opinion?

Looks funny, but just that... "funny"! What's going on with the exchanges putting up gambling games lately?
They want to use their already userbase for extra cash I suppose....
113  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: So what will happen to Bitcoin? on: October 10, 2019, 10:28:44 PM
Just because someone is called an expert it doesn't meant they really are experts on the subject.
Analyzers tend to call random numbers and "experts" talk about things they don't understand, often calling Bitcoin a bubble of no value.

Just do your own research and decide for yourself what will happen to Bitcoin, that's my two cents.
114  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Stop Worrying about the Bitcoin Price on: October 10, 2019, 09:38:20 PM
Be long enough in this market and you'll eventually stop caring! Roll Eyes
But the more money you've thrown in Bitcoin, the harder it gets to not peek at the price every day!

I remember how I used to spend hours looking at the stock market when I had first started investing! Cheesy
115  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Should Fiat currencies still exist or be replaced by Crypto Currencies? on: October 10, 2019, 09:24:33 PM
Ideally it should all become digital, but because we're not in an ideal world this is not going to happen. The many different countries and governments would just never agree.
Therefore our only option is to have both.

ark price looking to break the $0.20 mark today and into $0.50 by the end of the month or this week? can you tell?
all and all ark have the best tech and team. enjoy!
yes of course this is a significant project with very good teamwork and for the price can it be certain that it will soar I think no one knows for sure because it is only a prediction and I hope the price will soar in the near future
But even without the price going crazy high, the income from staking can stuck up into a significant amount.
That's the good thing with PoS coins, the new coins are not wasted into the hands of ASIC manufacturers nor are shared between the elite of mining farmers.

Ripple Price (XRP) Could Extend Correction Before Fresh Rise

Ripple price is currently correcting gains against the US Dollar and bitcoin. XRP price might test the $0.2700 support or $0.2650 before it could rise again.

https://www.newsbtc.com/2019/10/09/ripple-price-xrp-could-extend-correction-before-fresh-rise/

This is great news about corrections. XRP currently trading at: $0.278057

I have no idea if the rises will continue at a small pace or if they will jump before finding stability but I was hoping for a long time that it would some sort of stable price well above the $0.30 mark. All crypto prices have been affected with Bitcoin still around $2000 down from the price less than a month ago so with that in mind XRP is still doing well.

Actually, it did worse than other coins 2 months ago so I'm not that impressed with the current price action.
I don't complain though, I added more on my small bags amd they're slowly growing in large bal-I mean, bags!
120  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcoin.com Launches Games Stars Leaderboard – Win BTC Every Week on: October 08, 2019, 09:33:43 PM
I don't like how Bitcoin.com mentions the altcoin BCH like a real Bitcoin, equal to Bitcoin!
I wouldn't trust anything gambling-related that comes from these same guys.
