921  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [ANN] KRAKEN.COM - Exchange with USD EUR GBP JPY CAD BTC LTC XRP NMC XDG STR ETH on: January 12, 2019, 09:01:49 PM
I saw kraken is raising money at a crazy high multi-billion dollar valuation. What makes them think that valuation is reasonable, in this market, and compared to alternatives like Circle (Polo), Coinbase, and others you can reasonably access? Considering all the issues they have? something up their sleeve??  /scoff

What do you mean? Kraken doesn't have publicly traded shares, what valuation are you talking about? Or are you just farming posts for your signature?

Edit: Nvm, I see now, it's a hacked or bought account: https://bpip.org/profile.aspx?p=statdude
922  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][AUG 21] REVAIN - Reinventing Reviews on Blockchain on: January 12, 2019, 01:03:22 PM
Revain is looking for a few beta testers with great English speaking skills to try some of our interfeces. The reward for testing is 150 R (~$30). Please write in Telegram (Private Message) @ochnev if you wish to participate.

*interfaces* ... not "interfeces"!
Do I pass as having great English speaking skills? Wink Cheesy
923  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Zealot/Enemy (z-enemy) NVIDIA GPU miner (ver 1.28). on: January 12, 2019, 01:02:16 PM
Look like it gives this miner gives me negative profit but the hashrate is increase but why my earnings is decrease compared to last week?

I use the latest version of z-enemy, for now, I switch back to T-rex.

When you're saying "profit", if you mean BTC then I don't know why.
If you're talking about "$$$" then this week brought less profit because there was another BTC selloff.
924  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Welcome to PHANTOM - Decentralized blockchain ẔINCS on: January 12, 2019, 10:24:21 AM
It would be great if we wouldn't have an exchange until PHANTOM do some work.
This way less people will run to sell their free coins and more people will be willing to buy when we hit an exchange.

However as the team has said, they don't plan to influence the exchange listing since PHANTOM is a community driven blockchain.

Hello,
Only 14 days left for the end of the ICO, right? https://innovaminex.com/blog/innovaminex-ico-is-live/

When shall we expect payment for the translations and/or other bounty?
926  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Welcome to PHANTOM - Decentralized blockchain ẔINCS on: January 11, 2019, 12:08:56 PM
Phantom is moving towards decentralization at some certain clock via hard fork it will achieve this goal and then any change or anything will be decided based on consensus of coin holders. Open source and the features and purposes for what it is designed make it very good addition in existed projects. It is just starting and has to go far but overall first goals are achieved apparently.

927  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] ETHA - 🌐 The World’s First Blockchain-Based Remittances Platform 🌐 on: January 11, 2019, 10:22:19 AM
Are you guys planning to move ETHA from Ethereum's network to your own blockchain if you have a successful launch?

I'm sure there are better solutions for your goals than being an Ethereum token.
For example even if you don't have blockchain developers, you could use ARK's ecosystem to create your own customised dPoS blockchain in a quick, almost 1-click way, and also have interoperability with SmartBridges and access to Smart Contracts.
928  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ARK - Blockchains Interoperability with SmartBridge 🔹 ARK Core v2 & ARK Pay🔹 on: January 11, 2019, 09:56:26 AM
If there's one thing I couldn't wait to see the back off, it's them fancy whitepapers and fluff talk with zero to no ability to deliver.
2017 ended the era of everyone "disrupting this", "revolutionizing that".
2018 brought in no MVP, no dice.
2019... looking forward to the new levels the year's gonna stamp down considering the current market sentiments

Unfortunately a few good projects were lost among the scam-fest that was 2018.
Some teams were overly enthusiastic and tried to grab a piece of the pie but failed, some others were aiming to scam people and they paid a good amount in marketing to overshadow the competition.

I was lucky to find ARK among this mess, but judging from our market cap I guess I'm among the few who knows about how great it is.
The other good projects which I've found in 2018, in case someone wants to look into them, were...
  • Blockport - Bought it when ARK announced their collaboration and increased my holdings after the dip
  • RVN - Good project, but I sold 100% because it was overhyped
  • XDNA - A better mining algorithm than RVN and sharing profits for charity
  • Electroneum - Good idea, but sold 100% because I've lost my trust in the team after unsuccessful forks
929  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 10, 2019, 01:59:06 PM

I am the opposite, but not because of BTC... because of US stocks trading.
Since 2016 I've been buying every 5%-15% dip in the stocks, mostly Nvidia, selling at every 25 points of new ATHs. Big success which I then traded for some BTC this summer through fall.

I tried to buy the falling knife through October-November again... but... let's say I was lucky to hold a short in AMD... still ouch!

Nobody cares but I stayed out of the market for a week or two and then bought back in at 135$ and 125$ ... was also waiting for 115$ and 105$ but it didn't reach... maybe at the end of January?
930  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 10, 2019, 01:32:14 PM

Belgian paper..... btc for her life 9 milion € worth ( except they asked monero)

Those papers..... n00bs

Wait, guys you're trying to say you're still reading "paper" newspapers? The last time I read one was like ~10 years ago. Always wondered who's buying those traditional newspapers now.    Grin

I buy them... on summer when we grill on the garden.
They are an excellent paper to start the fire! They also give small gifts some times!
931  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Ethereum: Welcome to the Beginning on: January 10, 2019, 12:45:50 PM
ethereum price reaction to the etc attack. dev must reorganise eth asap. POS must log in at fork.
we need POS asap for eth because it will get 51% attacked otherwise

What are you talking about? Ethereum's nethash is over 20 times bigger than ETC.
ETC is a dead coin in zombie-mode with a market cap full of air, let it die completely and be done with it.

Ethereum cannot be attacked yet, but I'm sure it has a lot of ASIC miners already.
The problem will occur only if some time in the future more ASICs are manufactured, the mining difficulty increases to high levels for GPU miners and somewhen around May when even GPU miners with free power can't mine with 1060 cards because of the DAG size, a lot of GPUs leave the network.
If at that point the ASICs are controlled by a single entity, only then we may have a 51% attack problem.

But by that time Ethereum should have forked to ProgPOW... but I don't know how resistant is this ProgPOW. After all, ASICs can be created for everything. The goal is to make their effectiveness as low as possible in order to discourage their creation and/or keep a balance between ASICs and GPUs in the same network.

Being a relatively newer BTC fan, I though I'd visit a few random pages of the past in this HUUUUGE thread and see the reactions of people from past rallies and selloffs, so here are some quotes, enjoy! Wink

BTC Rallies up to 145$ during the April 2013
What the heck is going on. This is unreal!!! At this rate we will be 200+ in a few days.

Freakin' thing is going parabolic.  Again.

Guys listen...

WTF!!!

Its up $10 in like 2 minutes???

How the fuck am i supposed to sleep. This is the biggest rally ever. Period.

It falls to 83$ on May 3rd
So long as there are entities with 10k+ btc it seems risky to me to be holding btc for any significant length of time during the start of a downtrend.

Agreed ... thats why I prefer to take a small loss and walk away than to sit with a position that was intended to be short term and did not pan out

(This is golden!!)
So now almost everyone is a bear? Investor cycle says we are going up then.  Tongue

And on May 6th it indeed went up at 123$, but on May 8th it fell a bit at 112$ and...
Shorting BTC is starting to be available on different platforms. When that spreads, we will see more downward pressure.

I am shorting it... and I know it will fall. Its just making all of you a fool

There is no BTC reality. Currency value equals to amount of gold it holds. BTC has nothing to back itself. No Equity. Pure liquid capital investement. When the anonymous japanese runs away with all your money.... people will cry here

On November we had a huge rally without a correction; On November 9th BTC was at 359$.
(Some articles praised BTC as a great investment)
Why not pour some petrol on the fire:

http://blogs.marketwatch.com/thetell/2013/11/08/secondmarkets-bitcoin-investment-trust-puts-bitcoin-in-iras/

"Interest in the Bitcoin Investment Trust is coming from technology entrepreneurs, family offices and people on Wall Street. Some family offices are beginning to put a portion of their gold allocation into bitcoin Silbert said. "

On November 19th BTC hits a peak of 750$. People were mixed back then.
China unfazed. Rally resumes.
ive dumped. Gettin off this train before it derails!
Bears want this rally to be like April. What they forget is that if this is like that rally, we are headed for well over $1k.
Ok, I bought back in.

BTC crash in 3.....2......1....
Cause that's just my luck

And the next day it crashed to 482$!
Is this the final blow to bitcoin?
Have we officially gone now from correction to full blown bubble collapse?
Right now people are clinging for dear life onto the crazy november trendline. I guess when that breaks.. we go to the october trendline? That would be around $300.

However these were 1 to 2 days sell-offs, not a year long bear market like today. People use to be optimistic when the sell-off lasts a few hours or a week.
Even though I've selected some posts that show a sentiment opposite to the price's direction following a few days later, many others were showing an optimism after every dip.

Has anyone compared the v12 with Phoenix Miner in Nvidia cards?
Right now I'm getting an average of 49.0 - 49.5 MH/s with Phoenix on EVGA 1080ti FTW3 @74% efficiency.

Am I the only human in this campaign? The amount of bots (or humans with the same brain capacity as bots) present in ETHA and most Altcoin campaigns is unreal!

I hope that you won't reward those fake social accounts.

Hello.
After reading a part of the project's goals, I find it realistic and with potential.
Therefore I've enrolled for the signature campaign.

What I don't like is the avatar image, it looks very low quality.
I'm well aware of the Bitcointalk's limitations in quality, but I'm sure you can do a better job with the avatar.
938  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Isn't this merit thing getting more monopolistic politics? on: January 09, 2019, 12:06:20 PM
... mostly everyone here is just to earn a side income, and for most of them, it's a living if they are in a signature campaign.

That's why I don't give merits to members of signature campaigns. I do not want to encourage people to post garbage for money.

I also ignore members of signature campaigns so I never see their posts. As a result, I give away very few merits because 90% of the members are here trying to make money.

If your only judgement on people are their signature and that's enough for you to not merit them, or even ignore them, then that's funny.
In your own signature you have 2 reference links (most likely paid) and a link to an anti-signature campaign!

Sure, you don't get paid PER post, but you would still get more views on your signature the more often you post... does that make you a spammer by your own standard?

Thankfully many are not sharing your standard and I was able to slowly reach Member rank within the 13 months in the forums (starting from 0 merits) even though I almost always have a paid signature on.
You may not care for the 10$-20$ per week a signature campaign might offer because you might be rich, you might be an early believer of BTC, or you might even be a scammer who made a lot of money on others' loss.
Having a signature or not doesn't change the kind of person you are, the quality of posts you make or whether you deserve meriting or not.

With that said.... filling up your ignore list with newbie and jr. accounts is not that helpful, they'll keep creating new accounts and trading a merit or two. I just read the first 5 words of a post and I immediately know if it's a spam. Most of the spam is identical after all ("wow this is a great investment", "I agree with the post above", "I agree with the above post which agrees with the one above it")
939  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 09, 2019, 09:37:57 AM
1 to 5 trillion dollars flowing into Bitcoin is a modest estimation  Shocked

I think so too.

Quote
Today in 2018, there is approximately 2.5 billion oz of Gold Bullion and 4 billion oz of Silver Bullion in the world. At current gold spot prices, there is about $3.3 trillion USD in gold bullion in the world, while there is just under $70 billion USD in silver bullion being held by global investors and governments.

Respectively both these silver and gold bullion valuation sums (especially with silver bullion) are dwarfed by the total valuations for debts, real estate, fiat currencies, and derivatives worldwide.

<snip>

Taking even a small percentage of these markets will see bitcoin grow by orders of magnitude.
Monetary supply of 120 trillion = $6,868,539.53 per coin
Just taking the top tier of the derivatives market equals roughly 1.4 quadrillion = $80,132,961.19 per coin

I would be quite happy with even .10 of percent of $1,400,000,000,000,000

$1,400,000,000,000/17,470,963 = $80,132.96 per bitcoin

Meh..dont mind the idle ramblin's..it helps me put things into perspective sometimes.

I was also fascinated by how small the crypto-market is, and yet how high we've gone.
Look for example these charts: http://money.visualcapitalist.com/worlds-money-markets-one-visualization-2017/

Before I found the above article, I tried to make my own chart as well (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5076475)

Desktop wallet version 2.1.1 say it is NEO address and i can not send ark

Your post doesn't make much sense, can you please let us know of what address are you talking about?

With version 1.6 address is correct but in new version it say address is incorrect and neo  Huh

I'm sure you're doing something wrong.
The ARK address must start with a capital "A".
