this is modern football, plus bad luck. once a team is behind 1-0, it has to risk its defense for more attacking. Well it's always been like that, but with modern tactics, training methods and overall team strength and stamina, this effect strikes even harder. That's why many matches between equal teams nowadays end 5-1 like Netherlands vs Spain, or 4-0 like Germany vs Argentina in 2010. then additionally that was bad luck for Brazil. 3 goals in 4 minutes can happen, but doesn't have to.  These 3 goals could as well have been missed chances. That is a fair point. Also the Brazilians are missing two good players, and they have a lot more pressure on them in my opinion because of home advantage. And to top it all off, Germans are known for always being efficient - they have a tendency to score when they get the chance, while you constantly see players on most other teams miss many obvious chances. |

This is my prediction as well. Both Brazil and Argentina have serious flaws in their defense. Meanwhile Germany and Netherlands are looking on point, and Netherlands is a tad better than Germany imo. |

Loving how fast the website community is growing. Just 2 weeks ago there was barely 10 people on the Hall of Fame, now there's pages of them and more and more bets. And the UI of the site is absolutely awesome.

Sucks how in the later rounds there obviously aren't as many games. I liked how there were like 3 games a day in the earlier rounds!
When the cup is starting it seems like it will last for a long time with tons of matches. After the group stage it is almost over, so few games  At least the quality of the matches goes up a lot. |

Documentaries may not be that popular but I just watched Capitalism: A Love Story on youtube. One of the most depressing movies I've ever seen, but also a great resource to see everything that is currently wrong with America's economic and political system. I haven't seen that one, I should check it out. I recently watched Pandora's promise, which is about environmentalists coming to the unexpected conclusion that nuclear power is actually safest for the environment when compared to the alternatives. It was a pretty good movie. It is funny, nuclear power gets such a bad reputation among environmentalists, but if you actually look at it, it has been our safest, most realistic and most environmentally-friendly option for generating power in the world. The reason people irrationally call nuclear power bad is because of the two catastrophes that happened (Chernobyl and Fukushima) and because they think nuclear = nukes = bad. Chernobyl is a bad example because the facility wasn't very high quality, and Fukushima happened because of a tsunami, not because nuclear power is unsafe. Hopefully this view will start to change. |

Path of Exile is pretty refreshing. I haven't had too much time to play with it, but it looks like they really did do away with a "main" gold-like currency pretty well. I've played with a few others trying to do away with a main currency and they always felt very restrictive, but PoE does more of a hybrid system than completely doing away with "normal currency." The crafting/selling hybrid system is totally unique, too, AFAIK. Haven't cracked into much of the game, though - haven't found a rare item or map mod, yet.
Pleased that the skill tree is completely overwhelming at first glance. Nice to be able to sit back and study something again, restudying it over and over as I progress and want to work with the items and gems I have without everything being intuitive and obvious. Multiplayer being very clearly opt-in is nice, too, though I'd guess it's necessary on highest difficulties (did first roll on Ambush to get working knowledge of game).
Path of Exile is awesome, I played it religiously for half a year. Once you get used to it, my favorite part is running whatever new hardcore league is currently up and doing races. I would literally die and start over in the Nemesis league over 40 times - I didn't care that I lost all my progress because it was so competitive and fun to progress and learn. And Races are just the most competitive thing I've played in the longest time - you compete against thousands of other players, and to get into the top 10 or 20 position for a race is just an awesome feeling. Plus you get rewards if you do well over the Race season as well. The game just has such a refreshing amount of depth compared not just to Diablo 3, but to any non-indie release. Sure, it doesn't look and feel as flashy as the more polished AAA games, but it will take you literally over a year to learn everything in the game. And if you only play hardcore, it will probably take you a very long time just to reach the end-game part when you start running maps. I haven't even progressed that far because I haven't played the normal league at all. |
