The price continues to hold up well considering the current issues with the mempool. Looks like it costs around $12 to make a Bitcoin transaction right now. Not too bad. If it continues to ride though I could see it starting to have a major effect on price when transaction cost gets to be above $50. It remains to be seen if it will get that high during this spike.

Looks like some kind of attack to me. These are always tempoary as it becomes financially punitive to maintain. IMO the solution to high fees are high fees.

I have to agree with the comments about all the movies and what's more I reckon none of them would have got made today. These days if it is not a sequal, prequel, same universe, etc. it doesn't have a chance. I'm sure some of you saw this https://www.alexmurrell.co.uk/articles/the-age-of-average recently, here's a quote:

Quote
To find out Adam Mastroianni analysed the top 20 grossing films in every year since 1977 and coded whether each was part of a “multiplicity” (i.e. a sequel, prequel, franchise, spin-off, reboot etc.).

What he found was surprising:

“Until the year 2000, about 25% of top-grossing movies were prequels, sequels, spinoffs, remakes, reboots, or cinematic universe expansions. Since 2010, it’s been over 50% ever year. In recent years, it’s been close to 100%.”

Mastroianni continues:

“In 2021, only one of the ten top-grossing films (the Ryan Reynolds vehicle Free Guy) was an original. There were only two originals in 2020’s top 10, and none at all in 2019.”

A further finding for the research was that the revenue generated by the top 20 movies was, until 2015, around 40% of that generated by the top 200. Since then however that 40% figure has begun to climb even higher, crossing the 60% threshold in 2021.

In short, the top 20 films are becoming both bigger and more alike.

Also regarding Star Wars the only way to watch them is getting copies of the despecialized editions. These copies are exactly how they were released in the movies all those years ago and they are fantastic. Anything else plain sucks.

Pretty good we are holding steady despite the destructive apocalyptic nature of neocons in charge and leeches such as Jamie Demon destroying the retail fiat banking sector.

I want to believe that the world economy won’t dive into a deep recession but I’m still not convinced. The only reason I care if it does is because bitcoin will crash too. We’re still at a stage where we follow stocks & react to black swan events etc. Look what happened when COVID first hit, we nuked.

So here’s hoping for the FED to stop raising rates, banks to stop capitulating so the buds of financial Spring begin to show to allow us a raging bitcoin bull market in 2024 & 2025.

The world will not dive into a recession, not a long one anyway. But I can assure you it won't matter because the intervention required to continue, and keep making this mess worse than before, will lift markets of all types to new highs in no time. To the 99% the recovery will feel like a recession anyway as prices for everything become more out of reach than before. But hey, at least the governments and economies will continue to function though right.

A recession they can avoid, a functional monetary system they can never achieve.

Sure there might be another covid type crash but just like last time it will be a generational buying opportunity.

Pretty good we are holding steady despite the destructive apocalyptic nature of neocons in charge and leeches such as Jamie Demon destroying the retail fiat banking sector.

The global monatary system is completely screwed and the banks are the entities that connect this system to the rest of the economy. Therefore the banks are the first to go but after them comes the real economy. So the question is will the CBs and the Govs step in to stop this mess (the mess they created in the first place through mass corruption and stupidity)? Bitcoin is holding because the answer is yes. And when this answer is obvious to everyone Bitcoin will no longer be steady but going up towards escape velocity instead. If ever there was a time to be a capital owner now is it because after the end of this episode the wealth divide is going to look like the 1800s. Charles Dickens kind of shit

Going old school.

who is she? and what's old school about her. Can't work out.

Sure is hot though.

Her old school: School of the sacred heart

I should have known that. Though, From From Dusk Till Dawn is the only thing I can actually remember her in right now so I shouldn't beat myself up too much.

Thanks for posting, I would have missed it otherwise. It went pretty well.

I wish I could go watch one of these larger rockets take off. I'd have to travel a long way for that though so in the meantime I'll settle with my Estes.

Another bitcoin Epoch, another hashpower ATH, another difficulty ATH.

Quote

Bitcoin mining difficulty increased by 1.71% to 48.71T, a record high.

Difficulty went vertical lately, and is continuously raising.

The only ATH I care about.
Until we hit 170,000 USD, of course, because of… reasons.

Went to take a bit of a look at the hashrate on mempool.space after reading your post since it's been a while. And before I get to checking out some of the charts the first thing I notice is that the mempool is only 5 blocks deep.

Does anyone know what happened to all those ordinals blocks or whatever those things were called?

The fad died off just like the FUD around it?

They move from chem trails to moon landing conspiracies...its just insane and impossible to have a sane discussion with them.

They refuse to listen to facts and use due diligence to do a fact check and just fall back on layers of logical fallacies.

I've dealt with a few and have just given up and cut ties and wish I had done it sooner and not wasted my time in the first place.

TLDR: I agree get way quick there is no hope for them when they start evangelizing.

Or quoting lines from Monty Python.

I do not see conspiracies for 1000 here. Smiley

I mean no offence here, but your attitude is juvenile. Who cares if your friend believes in chem trails or other obvious crazy conspiracy theories. Is he hurting anyone by believing in that?

Believing and pushing onto others are two distinctly different things.

I don't care if someone talks conspiracies but if I hear one "Ni!", I'm outta there; there's something seriously wrong with those people.

How do you feel about "Peng" and "Neee-Wom"?
111  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: April 15, 2023, 01:46:54 AM
Fucking conspiracy theorists.

Some dude i came to slowly build personal relations with over a couple of years now, and this is a rare type of event in my life, actively texted me today about chemtrails.
I was like "R U SERIOUS?!". I had these visual, clear words in my mind: "the show must go on. Always...".
After re-texting a few dozen lines of debunkenings and solid reasonings against various absolutely insane sub-theories and statements, i came to a conclusion:

There goes a friendship candidate.

Years wasted.

Go to Start (as in "Monopoly", the game)

I mean, i wouldn't agree to ban Telegram, WhatsApp and the likes, but these message groups avalanche in mobile social media clearly goes over the top of most peoples heads.
Still i got no WhatsApp, i am not in a single messaging group in other messenger apps, of which i only use one .more or less regularly.

I mean no offence here, but your attitude is juvenile. Who cares if your friend believes in chem trails or other obvious crazy conspiracy theories. Is he hurting anyone by believing in that? People believe in all sorts of sh1t, and so what, I bet you even believe in things others disagree with. Perhaps even some of your existing friends and family. And why try to debunk his crap? If someone thougt chocolate ice cream was the best but you thought vanilla ice cream was the best would you argue with them about that then cut them out of your life when you couldn’t convince them.

Seriously, cutting people off because their thinking doesn't align with yours is exactly why the world is so god damn divided these days. Whatever happened to agree to disagree then continue on with things that you both agree.

I actually have a friend who believes in more than just chem trails, he also believes in a flat earth, fake moon landing, mystical energy sources, and other crap. Yeah, I think he is crazy, but he is a nice guy and I enjoy his company. In fact, being that he is open to others ideas he is now also a bitcoiner. I have other acquaintances who are ardent no coiners and they are very unaccepting of others and other ideas.

My partner believes in flat earth 🌏
My partner believes in chem trails
My partner believes in fake moon landing

As for mystical energy sources we both believe in that. Since they are mystical they don’t define well and are easy to believe in.

Most likely I am able to be his friend because we both believe in solar.
He has a solar company.
We like mining gear.

Also having had a complete psychotic break and seeing a lot of unreal shit I can honestly tell you
The universe can do whatever the fuck it wants in fact it does so I don’t sweat the small stuff.

So you have a common cauuse that you are working towards but don't agree with everything. My god man! How do you do it.

Oil prices surge after surprise move to cut output
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-65157555

Quote
Yael Selfin, chief economist at KPMG, warned that the oil price surge could make the battle to bring down inflation harder.

I just can't see a CB pivot this year. Presumably the markets are pricing this in. Quite happy about McDonalds probably going to lay off thousands. Share prices keep rising.

Maybe we will see a big assed dump in stocks later this year when the reality of the lack of a pivot will set in.

Hopefully BTC won't be affected (again).

Bond markets, funding markets, etc are still saying there are some deep seated issues in the monetary system that the CBs have yet to band-aid over with their latest alphabet toolkits. So pivot is still very possibe this year. Doesn't mean we won't see a crash though, infact that could be the final symptom before the pivot. Time will tell.
114  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: April 03, 2023, 12:30:16 PM
Would people put up with CBDC's and massive control? I can foresee them accepting it for a while, just like the Covid lockdowns, but surely eventually people will say: piss off?

I think by that point it will be too late, especially since a CBDC makes funding universal basic income posible with freshly printed reserves, something that can't be done by governments. People will hate the zero hookers and loss of freedom but with out those freshly printed reserves they'll probably starve. Therefore there will be no rocking of the boat by the masses.

So much work...I am getting too old for this s-t.
Can retire now, no question about it, but my dad's health really deteriorated after he retired, don't really want to go that route.

Daily fluctuations are...fluctuating.

Cheers, WO!

What did your dad do once he retired though? When I retire I'll be spending my work hours doing stuff for my kids and grand kids. Just make that a full time job.

Also health, go hard on keeping in good health.

It automatically makes the economics of an electric-driven economy better.

”A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. For the traitor appears not a traitor – He speaks in the accents familiar to his victims, and he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men.

He rots the soul of a nation – he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of a city- he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to be feared.”

If not anything else there HAS to be an escape boat out of the approaching predicament for at least some people.
If it does not materialize, then we might end up in a worldwide Depression 2.0
My bet is that bitcoin is that almost perfect agent of preservation in the digital age.
Gold is too bulky and "physical" and real estate is too leveraged.
However, it is also possible that my thinking is all wrong and there will be something else, but I just cannot see it, currently.

My thinking is the same as yours. Bitcoin is the perfect asset especially from a portable wealth perspective. Thing is though most people won't use it as an escape boat since most people are ignorant of how the world actually works. Capital owners are not ignorant, they understand the monetary system, human pyscology, see through propaganda and know every aspect of goverment has become corrupt one way or another. It is those who understand the power of capital that will escape. Some labor may come along for the ride but the majority will not. Same as always.

Hold on, dude.
You are talking about idiots, right?
So, why do you care so much about what idiots are saying about YOU?
Relax, take more care about what's happening inside you, less about what's happening outside of you.
Like, if you remember, when you were a child, completely caught in playing games or whatever, while adults were laughing at you and you couldn't care less about that.

You know if everyone got angry about the mass corruption it would probably be stopped. Revolutions don't happen until enough people get angry and desire change. Being calm about it certainly doesn't change anything. Having said that, chances of things changing even when the entire population is pissed off is low. Putting as much effort as possible into becoming an owner of capital then global citizen is much better for your, and your family's, future.

In my country society has degraded to a quality of life for the masses that is arguably worse than a majority of so called 3rd world countries. But you know what, even though the people complain constantly about it they vote for more of it at every election. I guess this is what we deserve for taking for granted all the benefits that our ancestors fought and died for, and then vilifying them for transgressions that were perfectly normal for the times.

Another minor sell off. This is probably an effort to just take out a few longs before more up move.

...

It seems that Binance froze. Is it planned or not, I don't know. Judging by the lil panic probably not.

If Binance is not coming back up soonish, we're screwed. Covid dump will seem small and insignificant compared to this...

Bitcoin don't give a shit. Honeybadger going on a bender

Yep. Also when an exchange has issues it means that all the BTC has already been stolen or sold off by its founders. So while there may be a short term dump by traders it doesn't seem to last.
