1001  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk discord server on: April 04, 2023, 09:43:25 PM
Thanks for this but this is not the discord server, I ask about an Official discord server.
No longer exists!

I'm not sure, but between 2015 and 2017 there was some involvement on the part of the administration in managing communication platforms other than Bitcointalk. But, in 2017 they decided that this would no longer make sense and so they stopped using other social networks. I am not now sure of the dates and all the details.

Personally I think it's good, since the forum is already a means of communication, it doesn't need other means for this purpose.
I think you missed something bro

There is currently a discord server dubbed as the Unofficial Bitcointalk discord server that was set up by Cyrus sometime around 2020 prior to the bitcoin halving event. It's not so active, but you will find some Bitcointalk members there as well.

My bad, never mind.
1002  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Bittrex to shut its U.S operations on: April 04, 2023, 08:43:32 PM
Coinbase, apparently, has already regretted 100 times that all this time they have been actively trying to develop under American jurisdiction, they themselves are no longer happy about this. It is quite possible that if they had a different jurisdiction, they would have had much more influence in the crypto exchange market and would have bitten off a much larger piece of the exchange market pie. In 2023, they finally realized that this is hindering the development of their business and are thinking about changing jurisdiction to a friendlier one: Bloomberg learns of Coinbase’s plans to create an exchange outside of US jurisdiction
And yet they are blocking and suspending thousands of user accounts every other time for no good reason or explanation under the guise of the accounts "no longer meeting their updated standards of services"?

Hard luck to them!
1003  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Coinbase planning to close accounts of certain users on 9th April? on: April 04, 2023, 08:29:33 PM
I don't think it's affecting you at all because they aren't going to close your account if you have a balance there.
Even some users who have been actively using coinbase and have some balance of coins in their wallets are receiving the notification. Just check their (coinbase)  subreddit.

No, I am not using Coinbase exchange, but maybe they are targeting accounts with less activity or ones they consider ''suspicious'' for whatever reason.
That standard practically saying that these users are no longer giving them money so you're all out.
It's certainly not about less activity. Some very active users have been messaged too.

I understand why many people based in US like to use Coinbase, but they should really consider making a switch to dex exchanges like Bisq, or other ways of p2p trading, better late than never.
It's mostly crypto noobs who start up with coinbase and blockchain.info, I created the accounts in 2016. Trust me, I was once there. I had no idea what bisq or p2p trading  was  Grin

I simply couldn't believe my eyes that I now have 1000 merits, especially after the prank the notification bot pulled off recently  Grin

Has anybody here received this kind of email from Coinbase?

Hello,
We’re reaching out to inform you that you’ll no longer be able to access Coinbase.com or the Coinbase app starting 09 April 2023, as we’re disabling access for accounts that no longer meet our updated standards for these services.
Because your Coinbase account has a zero balance, no action is required from you.
You can still use Coinbase Wallet, our self-custody crypto wallet that gives you complete control of your crypto. Coinbase Wallet supports hundreds of thousands of tokens and decentralized apps, so you can trade crypto, collect NFTs, and much more.
Please visit the Coinbase Wallet Help Center to learn more about creating and managing a Coinbase Wallet.
Thank you for your understanding.
Regards,
The Coinbase Team

My coinbase account is verified, but I barely use it.

So many other people are experiencing the same thing as seen by the complaints on Reddit and twitter
- https://www.reddit.com/r/CoinBase/comments/12a8e4d/my_coinbase_account_is_going_to_be_restricted/
- https://mobile.twitter.com/iamClaudeGu/status/1642704155004514305

They haven't cared to even state what their updated standards of services are, No official announcement of such a thing except that email messages to some users

Even the support is confused about the whole thing

1006  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: April 02, 2023, 09:57:38 PM
I had completely forgot that they will face each other also on the Champions League but I think that this was just a mistake from Napoli not focusing completely on this game as they are a lot of points ahead of every one in Serie A so I don't take this as an eye opener.Milan has been one of the most inconsistent team that exists for this season in Serie A and even when they qualified in Champions against Tottenham it was more luck than merit as they defended in the return leg against Tottenham.
Luck!

Isn't this the same thing many of you keep saying about Real Madrid in the UCL every season, even when they win it?
They put in an effort, mate. They are not in the quarter Finals by mistake. What if they went ahead and won the UCL. Would you still call it luck?

Besides, UCL is a completely different tournament from the local leagues.  I have seen teams not perform so well in the local leagues but then go ahead and win the UCL and vice versa.
1007  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Best Exchanges without KYC? on: April 02, 2023, 09:36:33 PM
Keep an eye on kycnot.me
There are a few that have no mention of KYC in their terms and conditions, while others will refund you without the need of a KYC procedure should it ever be required in the future.

I think KuCoin might be one. I've used it before and didn't have to go through any KYC verification process. But don't leave big amounts of assets on centralized exchanges. Just make your trades and move your funds to your wallet. Also, make sure to read the terms of use before you start using any exchange.
I think it depends on one's jurisdiction. For example, my jurisdiction is not supported by Kucoin, and they won't let me use some products such as their p2p platform until I first verify

1008  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: April 02, 2023, 08:24:53 PM
I have seen so many people fantasize about the idea about Napoli winning this year's edition of the UEFA Champion's League lately. This match should be an eye-opener to them.
With AC Milan tearing them apart like this. I am sure their confidence on the field won't be the same again.

Ooh, and they have to play AC Milan over 2 legs. This will be worth watching.
1009  Economy / Services / Re: [Available] 💹📈 Bitcointalk Campaign Management 💪🔥 Signature & Bounty on: April 02, 2023, 12:14:25 AM
Hi Royce777, I see the campaigns you are currently managing are becoming pretty popular in the community. Here is just a small reminder just in case you forgot  Wink
1010  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: 📝[Discussion topic] Overview of Bitcointalk Signature-Ad Campaigns📝 on: April 01, 2023, 11:16:20 PM
I think it's an April Fool joke.
Time will tell, we are just a few hours away, but I personally don't think it's an April Fool's day Joke

Why would the CM who is currently managing the two signature campaigns risk completely destroying the trust he is trying to rebuild, especially after a few past rough months just for a joke?
I don't see any reason
1011  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [List] Crypto exchanges under SEC’s Radar! on: April 01, 2023, 09:55:27 PM
I was surprised by SEC activity that gives to crypto exchanges, so I think such a list would be appropriate to track updates and discuss them.

Nexo                            SEC Charges Creator of CoinDeal Crypto Scheme and Seven Others in Connection with $45 Million Fraud

I think you made a slight error with Nexo

The text should be "Nexo Agrees to Pay $45 Million in Penalties and Cease Unregistered Offering of Crypto Asset Lending Product" and not "SEC Charges Creator of CoinDeal Crypto Scheme and Seven Others in Connection with $45 Million Fraud"
1012  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Bittrex to shut its U.S operations on: April 01, 2023, 09:46:48 PM
I will not be surprised that this is only the beginning, and almost all American branches of well-known exchanges will cease to exist in the foreseeable future. Or even the exchanges that exist in American jurisdiction will completely change this very jurisdiction to a more friendly one for doing crypto business and will not be subject to constant attacks from regulators. Although, this can greatly untie the hands of such exchanges and they will start playing dirty games. Still, American exchanges did not use such a popular manipulation as trading volume cheating, judging by the latest reports among all major exchanges.
But there are seemingly older exchanges based in the US such as Coinbase, Kraken, Gemini etc that seem stable unlike this other ones that keep playing hide and seek with the regulators. Bittrex tried that hide and seek game and failed. I think they even had two branches if i recall well. I think I remember some of us being forced to use Bittrex Global for non US users.

The manipulation rumors, insider trading and troubles with SEC keep popping up from time to time even with Coinbase, Gemini but I believe they try to follow the rules to the book as compared to crypto exchanges that are not based in the US.
1013  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin Ordinal on: April 01, 2023, 09:26:10 PM
Bitcoin ordinals are NFTs right?
Technically no. A satoshi remains a satoshi.

People are just being fooled into buying a sat at a much higher price just because it has some text or jpegs inscribed in it.

But there are few Bitcoin ordinal projects on the market right now, is anyone investing on them?

Yep, fools with money to waste.
1014  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: 📝[Discussion topic] Overview of Bitcointalk Signature-Ad Campaigns📝 on: April 01, 2023, 08:59:38 PM
YoMix and Sinbad just bumped up their weekly pay to up to $205 and $350 respectively, just as we thought that whirlwind.money was going to be the highest paying sign campaign at $150. There was a huge exodus of applicants from Yomix and sinbad to whirlwind just a few days ago, I wonder if we will soon see the prodigal sons and daughters return Cheesy

It looks like the race to be which mixer replaces chipmixer's top spot is still very much on

1016  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Beaxy exchange closed by SEC on: March 31, 2023, 09:51:49 PM
So, the SEC closes down an exchange accused of fraud and misappropriation of funds and looking at their front page, what do they say:

Quote
Regrettably, we are announcing the immediate suspension of services on Beaxy Exchange. Due to the uncertain regulatory environment surrounding our business, we have made the difficult decision to cease operations.

Not only it was their "difficult" decision that they have taken themselves but it was the uncertain regulatory environment that caused this, not the fact that they spawned companies to hide their transactions, not the fact they never bothered to register with the SEC, not that they ignored everything to date, not a word on anything else.
Can a thief freely admit that they have been thieves and stealing from people?  Grin

Obviously not!
We saw a classic example with the SBF, FTX and Alameda research saga. The kept lying to us to very last minute.
1017  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Bittrex to shut its U.S operations on: March 31, 2023, 09:31:01 PM
Lol

How times change.

I remember back in the day, 2016-2017-ish, before the emergency of Binance, Bittrex was top exchange. Any token or shitcoin that was rumored to get listed or was actually announced to be listed on bittrex would pump so hard.

But then they started restricting users by asking them to first do mandatory KYC verification. That was the beginning of their fall. I personally don't really care if they completely shut down.
1018  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [Updated] FTX on: March 30, 2023, 09:59:07 PM
So yesterday I received an email about Scheduled claim information and unique customer codes because FTX account balance was a net positive (I had some bitcoin sats in there and Locked Luna 2 from the Luna airdrop)

Not that the coins really matter as they had very little value, but It would be interesting to watch how this case goes through fast hand experience.

1019  Economy / Reputation / Re: roslinpl has changed hands? on: March 30, 2023, 09:33:18 PM
Someone hacked the forum database just to hack the rosinpl account, this sounds amazing lol. I trusted him. Hope everyone will too. He already has said he has lost access to all of their private keys. So, can't prove the ownership anymore.

What's even more shocking is that has been here since 2013 and the account was good for the business of signature and ad banner designing that but never at any one moment did he try to stake his Bitcoin address.

Ironically, this has been on his profile for a good number of years

1020  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Beaxy exchange closed by SEC on: March 30, 2023, 09:04:09 PM
As the title says, another exchange has been closed and this time its Beaxy. I can't say I heard about them before but allegedly they have been around since 2017 and are (were) based in the Unites States.
The name rings a bell. I think I have seen their name pop up in the scam accusations before

They have an ANN which is from Feb 2018 - [ANN] Beaxy - The All-in-One Cryptocurrency Exchange and the domain was registered around 2017-08-24, so it's likely they started operating around that time

Quite an amateur move to operate a crypto exchange in the US without getting it registered with SEC. It's like he wasn't seeing how the likes of Kucoin, Binance were playing hide and seek with the regulators.
