Why was this rule introduced? When was it introduced?, I Thought it has been like that for a very long time. Teams from the same country can not be drawn together until I think around semi-finals if my memory serves me right. I don't see any added value or benefit to that rule. In the group stage I could still imagine it because then you could help another team in the last game, but that is certainly not the case in the quarter finals.
