At least solo is better to the network than mining at huge pools.

But for users that do now want how to mine solo or want a little better consistency at finding blocks then mining in one of the pools created by members of the comunity is the best thing to do.

I mined a pool last 4 days of April.
Started solo May 1 , more success first few days and haven't quit 24/7 the whole month.
I holding my little bit of chain down.
I'll keep it up past block 200,000 as well.

edit- my gpu's run cooler with less stress and have more success as well I went solo.

I solo with  1.2 Mhz....I can push it to 1.5 but better WU at lower speed.
Don't be afraid go solo!
1003  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ๑۩۞[ANN][ ₭ARM] Karma & Karmashares // on: May 28, 2014, 11:02:03 PM
My little miner got 5 blocks last 24 hrs....so I'm trying to do my share.LOL.
Noticed a lot of pools only have 1 or 2 miners, what's up with that?

I think rewards goes way down in June. I think you'll break the 100 barrier tomorrow.
1004  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ๑۩۞[ANN][ ₭ARM] Karma & Karmashares on: May 23, 2014, 01:35:51 AM
I've averaged over 3 blocks a day solo.
I'll watch it but for now solo is for me.
Thanks anyway.

Yer' right Shawn, no dumping.
I have some White Coin, Doge, World Coin and I think some Vert coin lying around.
THEY...will get dumped for Karma and BtC.
1006  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ๑۩۞[ANN][ ₭ARM] Karma & Karmashares on: May 23, 2014, 01:12:14 AM
How much Karma were you able to get by mining this month?
What are the specs of your hardware?

Running 4x msi 7850 twin frozrs. Not stressing them and getting almost 1.2 MHz.
I can wind them up to 1.5 Mhz but more rejects solo mining.

Since May 1 I've gotten a little over 80 blocks. I pool mined last few days of april and a member was kind enough to donate me 500,000 Karma (which I intend to send it where he advises) so I had a little over a million when I started soloing.

over 10,000,000 now.
Difficulty has shot up from 4 early this morning to over 8 as of a few minutes ago.
Rewards don't adjust until June sometime.
I'll keep on keeping on......I love solo.
Some days 2 blocks, some days 9 blocks.

I'm already studying up for the next rig, there's still a place for small miners, you just have to be nimble and listen to your friends.

holding, hands in pocket.  not selling any until 100 satoshi Smiley

Been mining my butt off with little 2x4 rig all this month.
Com'On Karma!
Might dump a little but I bet this is going waaaaaaaay up.  Cool

I would like to solo-mine Karma. Can anyone help with settings (links or tutorial)? I am using cgminer 3.7.2

I run a small 1.4 mhs mining rig. I would suggest you have at least 1.0 mhs of power.
Follow this post exactly and you'll be mining solo easy.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=521563.0

Make sure your wallet is the most current v 0.8.6.2.5 and fully synched.
Don't get fancy with settings, Just let the cards do their thing , after starting all stock and just playing with intensity
the only settings i use are -I 12 -g 2. Your card will determine thread concurrency it likes as well as engine and memory.

Running two threads at lower intensity is more efficient and your cards will run cooler.
I do have auto fan on one card that runs the monitor as it tends to run a little hotter than the others.
Also getting crazy with clock speeds, driving the cards hard  and such I think causes more rejected blocks.

When you know its mining the log of cgminer will say:
"Network Diff set to 5" (or whatever diff is at the time)
and next line will say
" New block detected on network". this does NOT mean you found a block but simply that the wallet
(which you're mining through) has recognized one. They release on Karma network about every minute.

When your miner "finds" and solves a block your "A:" in cgminer will show accepted work, when you get an orphan it will hit your "R:"
for Rejected work. On pools this is work on shared blocks the pools power has found. Solo mining this is all your work on a block your miner found.

Some days my miner will find several blocks.
Yesterday all it got was several rejects (orphans) but when you find and solve one....its all yours!
Sorry for long post but this is all things I had questions on and wish I had found all in one place.

Good Luck!

all this is very interesting and leads me to a question.

I had the old wallet (no prob synching up)  and pool mined then switched to solo mining and found blocks.
Upgraded to new wallet following usual way.
It synched and connected and again I've been solo mining with cgminer set to mine through the wallet and finding blocks.

it shows 8 connections.
I have a different rpcport number and no nodes in the conf folder.

rpcuser=xxxx
rpcpassword=xxxxxxx
rpcallowip=127.0.0.1
rpcport=3333
server=1
listen=1
daemon=1

How is this working? Should I change anything?

put on your big boy pants, stay or bail>>>>>but don't cry about it.
 It's crypto.

I hold a lot of different coins.....Whitecoin is one of them, so I watch this thread.
What interests me is why the trolls feel like they have to keep coming in here
and make snide, negative and condescending remarks.
Why do that if they don't have some sort of agenda?
Go away guys......if Whitecoin is dead....what reason you have to be here?
1012  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Solo Mining question on: May 06, 2014, 01:40:31 PM
Have searched this and haven't found a clear answer.

I'm mining an alt coin (lets call it coin A) solo with the instructions found here and having success.
I'm using CGMiner and using the wallet as the server. Lack of a better description mining "through" the wallet.

My question is I own another coin (Coin B) that's closed for POW, is currently POS and  stakes by the wallet.
Seems like when I  have wallet for coin B open so it will stake, I get no blocks on the miner.
I open it after the mining has started.

Is wallet B interfering with the mining of coin A? Or is it just solo mining luck?

Thanks for any answers.

POS also 'mines' (stakes) new blocks, so sure block amount will go up. regarding the different chains in different explorer, I can also not help further. just redownloaded again the wallet, delete all files beside the wallet.dat - and re-downloaded chain --> now 17754

edit:
in debug window
Current number of blocks 17757
Estimated number of blocks 17478

This fits somehow to both explorer, one for each - just not sure what it means  Roll Eyes

Okay, I guess that makes sense, coins for POS have to come from somewhere.
So the wallet literally "mines" coins but solo miners and pools are unable to?
I loaded the new wallet yesterday afternoon, went through the update process no problems.
Do I need to resynch to be sure its on the right chain?

I'm a little confused, I thought when POW ends and pOS starts mining ends.How are blocks still being released?
Are there really two chains? Why would the newest wallet have the wrong chain address? Its brand new by current devs.

Chunkypool says network block is currently  9976
.
Good luck all.

Back up with stats in florida,
looks like it was hashing while site was down.  Cool

Can ping NY but mining results
Still down from Florida.

Terk,

I decided to set up clevermining as one of two pools i'm mining after you set up the NY server.
First round went very smooth, good ping, and next to nothing rejects.

CM just rotated back in and cool running mon, Thanks.

Just an observation about the guys with high rejects, etc.

I switched to CGMiner 3.7.3-Kalroth. Before I ran CGMiner 3.7.2 two thread with I 13, but the 3.7.3-Kalroth version with its x-tensity simply rocks.
My cards are cooler, stable and I picked up at least 20kh on my two MSI R7850 Twin Frozrs.
Have a third R7850 on the way that will let me break the 1 meg barrier ( I'm running them 395 after backing off 401~402).

3.7.2 seems to be kind of wonky, crashing windows 7-64 ultimate almost everytime I would hit "Q", cards were 6~7 degress C hotter and hases were lower.

Besides I really like the additional controls built in to the 3.7.3-Kalroth.

I followed this dudes path, its important if your running 2 thread on the gpu to match up the thread concurrency with the x-Itensity
I'm betting all you single thread high powered rigs will settle down with this. Its way more efficient to run lower intensities with 2 thread.

The 3.7.3 is after the  downloads for the SGMiner.

Thanks Terk for the eastern US server, the ping is 1/3 of Oregon from here in Florida
1019  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][AUTO-SWITCH] Profit-switch auto-exchange pool: CleverMining.com on: March 09, 2014, 01:52:44 PM
I'm a fairly new miner (since first week of January) checking out these types of pools. I've tried single coin pools, large auto switching pools (multipool) , different coins scrypt, scrypt-n and sha ...everything but solo.

 I recall the words of the great Yogi Bera..."You can observe alot, just by watching."

I've read through over 100 pages of what Terk has going on his servers. over all seems a lot of folks are impressed,
especially experienced miners. Don't know if I have enough hash at 800 kHs to kick in but, thinking about it.

Some of the comments and questions here would make me want to put a kill button on a few accounts if I was Terk.

Seems like anybody and everybody is ordering two or more cards from where ever they can, plugging in a miner and then expecting the money to come rolling in. My advice, join a single coin pool...LEARN about work units, shares and blocks. Your rig is NOT an auto streaming pipeline into the crypto coin of your choice.

Look at how blocks are like bananas.....they come in bunches or for a while....they are nowhere to be found.
That's the word "variance" or better know as LUCK. not to mention when a pool does find one, it might take
 a few share rounds or it might get stuck and take a lot of shares to solve.

Looking at the pool I'm on right now has found 8 blocks in the last hour and solved with 74.8% of expected shares, over last 24 its found 138 blocks and taken 115% to solve. As I understand it, anything than less than 120% is actually pretty good.

Its not automatic, you're not entitled to it and it's not a god given right.
Just like miners in the old days...sometimes you find that ore but a lot of times its just rock.

That's why it's called "mining"
I'm done now.  Grin
