1001  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Win 100 BTC by becoming the first Satoshi Superstar! on: April 09, 2012, 06:31:57 PM
Sorry about the delay. Had family stuff going on this weekend, not to mention the Bitcoiduit launch, and I'm running RL errands today. Contestants will be getting another email in a few hours.

...you create a throwaway account and come on the forum saying, "Help! My wallet's contents were stolen and there's absolutely no way to find the thief. Tell me how it might have happened. And how he's obfuscating his trail. Step by step. In detail."

...you claim persecution after a polite request for more information.
1004  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Anarchist blog pays BTC for content on: April 08, 2012, 11:02:01 PM
P.S. Sorry for being a little off-topic. Smiley

That's not off topic, that's called hijacking a thread and violates a pretty fundamental rule of netiquette.
1005  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What Australian BTC exchange do you recommend? on: April 08, 2012, 10:54:51 PM
I have been using https://bitpiggy.heroku.com/ for small amounts and it has been fine.

Sometimes the website reports it is short of bitcoins to sell, but I keep checking back they become available.

It has some lead time as you wait for bank direct debits, but there is only a simple email validation, nice and simple.

+1 for https://bitpiggy.heroku.com/ I use it when buying bitcoins, i dont sell them there though.

I'm an American but I'd recommend BitPiggy, simply because I met Mat at the San Antonio conference, we traded contact info, and he seems to really have a handle on things.
1006  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Full Color Business Cards using Bitcoins on: April 08, 2012, 10:48:54 PM
I am very much interested in getting involved in the bitcoin community.  To get my feet wet I am offering 1000 full color business cards 2 sided with UV coating for 6 BTC.  This includes shipping and is subject to change.  I will offer more products once I see this can be successfully done.  You can view my site @ http://card25.com or ebay @ http://www.ebay.com/sch/funditcs/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg=&_trksid=p3686

I am very much interested in learning more so if you just want to discuss BTC please do contact me using the contact us link @ http://card25.com

The goal is to accept BTC for all of our products in the near future.  Please help us to make this a reality for the BTC community!

The current exchange rate is between $4.6 and $4.75 per BTC, which means you're effectively charging the equivalent of $27.60 to $28.50. Yet your site advertises 1000 business cards for $25.00 with free shipping. Why are you charging more if your customers pay in bitcoins when you're saving all the fees associated with using PayPal?

1008  Economy / Gambling / Re: Bitcoinduit is back from the dead! on: April 08, 2012, 02:16:23 PM
As many of you have noticed, your favorite ponzi in a ponzi site is back. JRO and inau approached me some time ago about taking over the reincarnation of Bitcoinduit and, of course, I jumped at the opportunity.

The guys are still the masterminds behind the code, having rewritten the entire thing almost from scratch, but feel free to contact me with any issues that may arise. In other words, I've assumed almost all the responsibility and taking almost none of the credit.

We (and be "we," I mean "they") have been working hard to get Bitcoinduit re-launched by today. I'm looking into different ways of promoting the site, so if anyone knows of any other resurrection type things going on today, let me know.  Wink

There are obviously still a few minor details that need some fine tuning (for a while during the last few days, the tagline was, "New and Improved Bitcoinduit: It May or May Not Work!"), but this version of Bitcoinduit should be a very enjoyable experience.
1009  Other / Off-topic / Re: Cyberpunk on: April 07, 2012, 09:32:26 PM
I liked his earlier stuff much more. I still enjoy his work, but everything after Count Zero has been downhill, IMO.
1010  Other / Off-topic / Re: Cryptography solution to Fermi's paradox. on: April 07, 2012, 09:30:08 PM
You obviously haven't read "Anvil of Stars" by Greg Bear which talks about a universe in which being able to hide from other species is the single most important survival strategy because of the existence of destructive Von Neumann machines.

Seemed quite plausible Smiley

It does seem inevitable that von Neumann machines would eventually reach the point where finding and consuming resources overwhelms any self-restraint that might have been programmed into them. It only makes evolutionary sense.
1011  Bitcoin / Press / Re: Bitcoin press hits, notable sources on: April 07, 2012, 06:00:01 AM
The magazine Northwest Mama just had an article in their first issue released today. Their website has the current issue, which as of now has the article on page 42.

http://nwmama.com/

For those who just want a quick summary:

Bitcoin is a substitute for traditional money, not just CCs and checks but Yen, EUR, and USD.

You should set up an ewallet, people can send you money there and you'll generate some for free, it won't make your computer go slow.

Bitcoin is too buggy and won't replace current money for 30 years.

And my own note:

We're going to need Bitcoin education classes in every city within 2 years or there are going to be some confused folks bouncing around.

Please do not think I made that article. I just found it and posted it.

I don't think anyone does, but you have to admit, it was obviously written by someone who didn't do their homework very well.

And we're ready!

Mousepotato has graciously agreed to become a contestant in this inaugural season, ensuring an unforgettable Bitcoin first.

I'll be randomly assigning contestants to one of two teams and contacting them privately to go over their next steps. More info will be posted shortly but expect most details to be announced at the main site from now on: http://www.satoshisuperstars.com/

Don't forget to check out our Judges' blogs and the main site often.

I'll assume it'll be via a PM, correct?

~Bruno~

For you, for now, yes.

I've actually been meaning to get an email address from you - you're the only contestant I don't have one for (or at least one that you'll check!).
1013  Other / Off-topic / Re: You might be a Scammer If... on: April 07, 2012, 05:15:39 AM
you have fewer posts than you have excuses why PayPal is the only method of payment you can use.

Please welcome the latest contestant in the Satoshi Superstars contest, Yoon Yeonghwa.

Only one spot left and males only outnumber females ten to one!

I know I corrected someone earlier in this thread, saying that Satoshi Superstars was meant to be more entertaining than exciting, but heck, it is getting exciting!
1016  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Win 100 BTC by becoming the first Satoshi Superstar! on: April 04, 2012, 11:50:32 PM
Okay, I think I've given those who've abandoned the application process enough time and will now move on to a more active campaign to recruit the last two contestants for the first season. Feel free to nominate your favorite forum member but, please, don't spam anyone's inbox.
1017  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Which Country You're From on: April 04, 2012, 10:29:18 PM
I'm not from United States

I'm not from New York

I'm from Brooklyn.

Yes, we are our own country.

OP- Please add Brooklyn to the list.

In that case, Texas should definitely be on the list.

Lack of 0 tx blocks could be
a) mystery is getting orphaned out due to incompatible blocks
b) he started including txs
a+b is possible too.

I thought MM got caught in a sinkhole.
1019  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: March 2012 BitCon in San Antonio, Texas - News Thread on: April 03, 2012, 04:24:01 AM
What about planning a Bitcoin Convention around DragonCon in ATL? Are there Bitcoiners in Atlanta?
I'm sure there are. Looks like that would be a lot of fun to attend. I'll check out prices for tables and maybe some of us can meet up there to run a bitcoin booth.
1020  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: GLBSE 2.0, Is it safe? on: April 03, 2012, 01:10:19 AM
The drama because I've locked his account and asked for ID verification.

May I ask why you locked his account?

This question will have to be answered before I send ID verification.

I believe it was because you posted personal information about your email and password use, making it even easier for unsavory types to access your account.
