1021  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: IOTA to be listed on Bittrex soon, time to buy on: December 08, 2017, 02:00:47 AM
if it had started on bittrex and was going to bitfinex that would be a move worth noting. why should anyone care that it's going from one of the world's biggest exchanges to some other one?
1022  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]Bitcore- BTX - SEGWIT - lowest fee - hybrid fork 1:0.5 of Bitcoin on: December 08, 2017, 01:53:45 AM
Yes I want to help market BTX,  but no one is responding.

Regarding the free BTX, it is NOT fair to the rest of us who put hard earned money into this to get it removed by a COMPETITOR who got 20,000 for free to dump and cut the price in half.   THey will do it each time it hits a new high and they find out about their free coins.

it is fair.

the plan was clearly stated and clearly executed. everyone buying in should pay attention to how a project like this works. the info is available to everyone.

i'd love to know the redemption stats. i'll bet they're very low.
1023  Economy / Speculation / Re: Are we gonna see Bitcoin fall back a bit for those who wish to invest? on: December 08, 2017, 01:50:54 AM
those who wish to invest are investing right now hence the ridiculous price rises.

people are wise to hang back a little. nothing goes up forever. maybe once american tax season is renewed in january we'll see some serious selling. who knows? not many people went wrong dollar cost averaging.
1024  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Bitcoin Cash - Fork 1:1 of Bitcoin - Pro on-chain scaling - Cheaper fees on: December 08, 2017, 01:46:32 AM
Why is bitcoin cash affected by btc bull? Where is the battle of weekends? Bitcoin cash is certainly loosing.

Fight back. Let them know that bitcoin cash is not a dying alt coin but a competitor to the thrown.

it's just another alt and all alts are getting destroyed. if bitcoin keeps it up and introduces some working second layers soon then the alt party could be over for a long time. it'll come back but i don't think almost all alts will ever reach the all time highs they achieved against the btc ratio again, especially this one.

if you're into dollar gains then you're still fine.

i'd say maybe the prime factor in bitcoin going mad is koreans falling out of love with bcash for now at least.
1025  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What if the Winklevoss twins would sell all their bitcoins? on: December 07, 2017, 09:39:22 PM
if they sold all at once if exchange order books were unchanged the price would probably go to zero. exchange order books are never fixed so fiat would pour in to meet it. there may not be enough money ready to avoid a vast hit, but it would be taken as huge opportunity at least with the current mindset.
1026  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: December 07, 2017, 07:49:57 PM

You can consider bitFlyer they are approved for 42 US states though the main office is in Japan. One downside is you have to fund your account with a wire transfer for fiat.

circle had the credit and debit card thing and wires won't ever replace that. circle was amazingly good to use. they still do a bunch of bitcoin volume but it's nothing to do with retail customers. there were surely a huge amount of costs involved in running it but there are also a huge amount of fees to charge.
1027  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Unconfirmed Transactions --> Over 200,000 --> That's the death of Bitcoin on: December 07, 2017, 07:47:10 PM
You're absolutely right.  The *core* devs can't seem to address the block size issue but the 2 hard forks *did* address the issue.  Unfortunately the miner community seems resistant to shifting to one of the hard forks.  So they stick with core bitcoin which has no good path forward.

the path forward is about to happen with the lightning network. there are multiple versions that might go live next year. if they're a miserable failure then yep people have the right to lose faith. and it would help if businesses and wallets introduced segwit but even core haven't done that for their wallet.
1028  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Unconfirmed Transactions --> Over 200,000 --> That's the death of Bitcoin on: December 07, 2017, 07:30:34 PM
nearly twenty thousand dollars per coin. oh the humanity. yep. it's toast.

you're aware that unconfirmed transactions are a fluid thing and they even go down sometimes? get your head out of your ass and look at the bigger picture.

if any coin overtakes bitcoin it's gonna have the exact same problem. nothing scales. or rather nothing i'd trust with any actual money.
1029  Economy / Exchanges / Re: DEPOSITING A MILLION $ USD INTO GEMINI TO BUY BITCOIN on: December 07, 2017, 07:27:09 PM
are you sure he can get verified for that amount? i'm pretty sure they have limits on withdrawals, dunno about deposits.

yes. gemini is as safe as it gets. it has a bank charter, it's fully regulated as any bitcoin exchange can be and it has deep pockets backing it. if it was easily accessible to me it would be my choice of exchange.

no one can tell anyone anything about when to buy or sell.
1030  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / will a bitcoin market controlled by futures drive traders to alts? on: December 07, 2017, 07:05:49 PM
no one knows what effect futures will have, but is it possible that it turns bitcoin into a completely separate market?

traders love volatility. they also love pumping and dumping. if wall st has more control over the price, though i've no idea if they will, will more traders migrate to alts where they have more control over the market?

eventually the bigger alts will get similar set ups in which case i'm wondering whether they diverge from alts without wall street screwiness too. what do you think?
1031  Economy / Speculation / Re: Do you think Bitcoin price will be $70.000 end of 2018 on: December 07, 2017, 06:57:49 PM
i've given up making predictions. this is all making my head spin.

the great unknown is the effect of these futures. they're not here yet. they will be very, very soon. that's by far the biggest thing that's happened to the bitcoin market in a long time and it's also the most unpredictable. let's ask this question again when they've been running for a few weeks. no matter what happens they're here to stay.
1032  Economy / Speculation / Re: This won't end well on: December 07, 2017, 04:32:17 PM
I don't have any sympathy for anyone throwing their life savings in right now.

Bitcoin has enough history to know what happens next.

If you can't spend a few minutes researching then don't come crying to anyone else.
1033  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Bitcoin Cash - Fork 1:1 of Bitcoin - Pro on-chain scaling - Cheaper fees on: December 07, 2017, 01:12:00 PM
https://blockchain.info/unconfirmed-transactions
amazing, speaking of outperforming btc, I see it would be very hard for alts or BCH to achieve that

apart from ethereum right now and every alt that ever gets some eventual and actual use. bcash will be no different. the bar is raised but it can be reached pretty easily. nothing out there right now scales. the stuff that does claim to scale should not be trusted.
1034  Economy / Speculation / Re: This family bet it all on Bitcoin on: December 06, 2017, 06:42:32 PM
It panned out. I still think they were incredibly dumb to do it.

Throw savings by all means. Depriving your family of stability is no good.
1035  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Bitcoin Cash - Fork 1:1 of Bitcoin - Pro on-chain scaling - Cheaper fees on: December 06, 2017, 11:29:50 AM
I guess bitstamp wasn't the magic bullet after all? One day this 'big exchange' trope is gonna be put out to pasture. Same thing happened with bitcore and hitbtc.
1036  Economy / Speculation / Re: why CBOE and CME futures trading may LOWER / SLOW the price of bitcoin. on: December 05, 2017, 10:54:46 PM
Dude, CME and CBOE are implementing the exact same methodology as gold futures.  The paper contracts are settled in cash. Next to no BTC is involved. Its a moot point.

any trader anywhere can immediately and instantly take delivery of their bitcoin wherever they are in the world 24/7. they'll know it's real, it can be verified, no one can take it off them, it can't be faked.

no gold trader has ever had that option anywhere ever. it's impossible to achieve. they've always had nothing but promises and may never have touched or seen any real gold in a lifetime of trading it. this was long before stuff like gold etfs arrived. it's always been that way.

that makes it a totally different proposition. i don't think enough wall street guys realise this. they might think it's just another thing you can use to pull the wool over everyone's eyes. it's pretty much the first and only thing that doesn't allow that which is why it's such a big deal.
1037  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Bitcoin Cash - Fork 1:1 of Bitcoin - Pro on-chain scaling - Cheaper fees on: December 05, 2017, 03:33:38 PM

Nice ddosing kids. Yep that's really the way you're gonna take over the financial system.
1038  Economy / Speculation / Re: why CBOE and CME futures trading may LOWER / SLOW the price of bitcoin. on: December 05, 2017, 03:18:44 PM
You can't move, sell, verify or store physical gold without a huge amount of hassle.

There's no point making this comparison.

They stuck a paper market on top of gold as otherwise there basically isn't one.

That's not the case with bitcoin.
1039  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Bitcoin Cash - Fork 1:1 of Bitcoin - Pro on-chain scaling - Cheaper fees on: December 04, 2017, 08:21:45 PM
I bought  2 bitcoin cash to invest ,when bitcoin cash listed on bitstamp  , the price will not cheaper than now

how many times in the past did 'soandso coin is being added to soandso exchange' turn out to do nothing or be a disaster. it happens all the time.

bitstamp is a big deal but anyone expecting a pump just because it's on there might be disappointed.
1040  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [Open Letter to Smoothie RE: LEALANA - Are you retired or out of business?] on: December 04, 2017, 07:13:52 PM
It's a good thing everyone isn't in it for the money then!

you bet, but it's less about money and more to do with avoiding inconvenience and thankless effort.

i saw in the gravitate thread he said he'd made a profit of £3000 out all his works. after all that work and hassle i would've wanted a few million.

there's got to be a point where everyone questions why they're dealing with assholes all day long but i'd be the first to admit i ain't no good at anything customer facing.
