1021  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: TorCoin Is A Scam on: May 16, 2017, 10:15:39 PM
Is this you?  Either way, probably relevant on this thread

NOTICE :

Users of this forum should know the following;

(1) "Torcoin" has nothing whatsoever to do with the real Tor Project Inc.

In fact, the official Tor Project Inc has already publicly issued a warning regarding "Torcoin"

"@torproject Apr 26

Warning: @TheTorCoin is using our name and logo deceptively and without permission/approval. Their service is not endorsed by Tor."

Anyone reading this should also see: https://www.torproject.org/docs/trademark-faq.html

"Tor" and the "Onion Logo" are registered trademarks of The Tor Project, Inc.

(2) "Torcoin" is making 'false' claims in regards to their current (and only) software release: Version 1.0.0

(a) Despite claiming that; "Torcoin is fully integrated with the Tor project network", the current wallet software is not automatically running over the real Tor® network and therefore exposes the users real IP address on clearnet!

Note that almost any crypto-coin on this forum can be run over the real Tor® network by configuring the proxy settings to use a Tor® daemon as a SOCKS proxy.

(b) "Torcoin is 100% Anonymous, unlike Bitcoin.  Send & Receive payments with full privacy" - Note that "Stealth" addresses are not fully anonymous, in comparison to other anonymity technologies.

(c) "By running TorCoin, you are increasing the number of nodes on the TOR network, and thereby helping people across the world remain anonymous." Again, this claim is currently false.

Torcoin's existing wallet release does not run a real Tor® network node (Relay or Exit node) when the wallet is started. "Torcoin" software is therefore not currently able to reward actual Tor® network nodes operators, as they have also claimed.

...

As someone who has hosted real Tor® software Relay and Exit nodes for more than 10 years (and have also been using Bitcoin since the year dot), I feel obliged to make the above facts known.

~ Running genuine Tor® software nodes remains a thankless and mostly unrewarded task that I choose to undertake, as I believe in the right to privacy etc.,

Furthermore, the real Tor Project Inc has long considered trying to enable said incentive mechanism's for real relay and exit node operators and various research papers have already been published;

See: https://blog.torproject.org/blog/tor-incentives-research-roundup-goldstar-par-braids-lira-tears-and-torcoin

Note that the TorCoin paper mentioned is not the "TorCoin" of this forum thread!

...

Whilst the continuing development concept for a "TorCoin" maybe somewhat feasible - I fail to see how you can remedy the above situation.

Wow the ICO already got 378,229 BTC,
Can't wait how many more it will get before it ends.

The stats on their website say this but there is no way to confirm, how are you confirming this?  Cry

I can make a website saying I've taken 1,000,000 BTC, I can make animations, I can put a timer, and I can update it with new numbers every hour, even automatically. That doesn't mean you should send your coins to me.
1023  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Scammer Podgor on: May 16, 2017, 09:06:10 AM
Podgor's account was hacked. The person who blocked my PMs was not him but some hacker.
Podgor gave me the $60 AGC as promised by the hacker.
He is not a scammer, and i trust him again just as before.

At this point I personally can't confirm whether or not the account was hacked or not but since Podgor has fulfilled his obligations, I will remove my feedback.

I am pretty sure that’s the only thing that we can do because pretty much anything that is listed in this forum contains a risk that the investor must learn to overcome since big money could be made with just a single trade.
I think that this ICO is legit and people will be happy with the results.

I agree with you, rather than we argue about escrow and some other unimportant things, it's better to continue to participate to make it more successful, don't always think negatively with everything, be critical, but still optimistic

Unimportant?
You understand that risk has different levels?  It is not just "risk" or "no risk".

Of course everything on this forum has a risk.

However, that risk is GREATLY REDUCED when there is someone handling the funds who has done 100's or 1000's of escrows without scamming someone.
1025  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [LNK] [630k+USD RAISED] Ethereum.link | Flexible Market Connector | ICO started on: May 15, 2017, 10:20:32 PM
Link response against baseless accusations using as only point the escrow are totally against our business vision.

You have the right idea, there shouldn't be any reason why the Ethereum.link team should explain themselves within another thread just because some bullies try to slander the project.

Escrowed ICO’s are not necessary for a project to survive, it’s like some kids just graduated ICO schooling and forgot that they are in the real world.

Yep, there isn't any insurance of any kind from an 'escrow' , I do correct review before investing on one, if they dev just wants money and he doesnt even understands what hes doing, even with 20 escrows you will lose money, unlike Link which is explained clearly and trustfully.

Have you talked to the devs?  do they exist or is it just their pictures?

I'm very very worried about sending anything without someone trusted involved.

How is it explained trustfully?   It just looks like a bunch of images and text  Huh

So sorry for all of the questions, this is very concerning without a trusted escrow.

I just feel it, just as I feel when one coin will dump or rise, I feel too when an ICO/project is scam or not.

Why should I trust your instincts?
Besides, if you could "feel" when a coin rises or falls, you wouldn't need to invest in an ICO because you would make plenty of money day trading.

I find it interesting that you are fine with no escrow for this ICO, but not when your buying accounts?    Huh

.04BTC we need to use escrow

Which escrow can I send my coins to if I want to join this ICO?

Everyone has been using an escrow for this?

Send them to the ETH address, investments in ETH are not moved until end of distribution.

Basically nothing is moved until distribution, those are good trolls as always a newbie account making accusations.

Ok but if they are scammers, they take the ETH and disappear.  Where are funds moved??
There should be a trusted person to handle the ETH, this would be an escrow?

Welcome back, are you able to sign any messages from prior addresses used on your account?

Hopefully you came back for a meaningful reason and not to shit post in order to fill a quota for your new signature campaign?

P.S. Being nice is not part of the "job" nor is it an adjective that I'd like to associate myself with.

Alright, I agree with Ibminer.

Still I think lauda is a mooncalf who gives judgement without being sure about things.
He doesn't deserve to be in the DT.
Look at the difference between the attitude of Lauda and Ibminer.
Only people with rational thinking like Ibminer deserves to be in DT.

I'm not sure if this helps or hurts my reputation but thanks for the understanding.  Smiley

There are better ways to make money ethically and still maintain your humanitarianism and I would love to see that happen on your future endeavors.
1032  Economy / Reputation / Re: Never scammed anyone-Still Got negative from Lauda [Witch hunt] on: May 14, 2017, 02:48:03 PM
Today my trust turned red from that beautiful black.I am a nike gift card dealer and reputation matters a lot.
Seeing that red trust made me furious enough to convert my frustration into ASCII characters.I am a non-native english speaker, but I will try my best to make you understand whatever I know.

I used to own a account on this forum.Using which I used to sell services related to amazon.Just like always, I was open for escrow service and always traded like an honest dealer.
I used to sell guides which talked about the manipulation of refund service of amazon. One day the mods tagged me for providing this service. And I got no warning for selling this stuff.I repeat "I got no warning".
I even sent a PM to the mod asking him to kindly remove his trust, and that I won't sell such guides again.

But he ignored me.So I switched to this account.
Again on this account,  I was always open for escrow service and I always trade like an honest dealer. And I was no longer selling those guides.

Then today, this happened:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1702409.msg19013728#msg19013728

Am I really guilty here?
Do I really deserve negative trust? It's like a witch hunt!
I have always been kind to everyone(whos been kind to me).I even donate to charities.

Is this how the world pays you for being kind?

People like lauda and Avirunes makes me wanna believe in nihilism.
Should I stop being good and be like them? Should I give myself to my greed?

It's funny how everything I worked for turned into ashes just for nothing.

I'm not here to defend anyone, my opinion was asked for on this matter, so I will give it. The trust system is a "trust" system, it is not a scammer system. Keep in mind scammers are not to be trusted, so the system is certainly used to identify scammers. You are not someone I can trust because E-whoring and selling ways to defraud anyone is not being on the "good" side, is not "kind", and it is certainly giving in to "greed" on some level.

I do believe in 2nd chances for certain situations but I'd have more respect if you had stayed on your account, paid for your mistakes, and tried to earn a positive reputation with legitimate trading. E-whoring is not a legitimate practice to most people, it's swindling at best, which most people will see as a form of scamming - while you may not be directly scamming people on this forum, your scamming others to make money which makes you a prime suspect to scam here at some point.

There are some people on this forum that want a cleaner forum, less shady activities, and more ethical business practices. At the end of the day, I believe it's better for Bitcoin in general.

I was watching the attacker as he was doing this, so I'm nearly certain that he merely brute-forced accounts with extremely weak passwords which were unchanged since the 2015 leak. All of the accounts had passwords like "word12" or "195402" or similar, which can be brute-forced very quickly even despite the forum's pretty good password hashing/salting. (I know their passwords because I was watching the attacker enter the passwords.) The more valuable such accounts were already picked off -- this person was collecting the dregs.

I locked ~all of the accounts which woke up.

Good stuff, thank you theymos.

It just started happening.

When composing a post, if you click on any of the buttons above the post area, it doesn't put the corresponding bbcode where you want it - it moves it all the way up, thus having to manually re-add the space.

For instance:

This is what I want:

But this is what I get:

There's a slight chance that the problem could be on my end, for this is the very first time where when taken screenshots that the flashing vertical line (cursor) was captured.

Please help me with my problem or I will kill myself.  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

Have you changed anything with your javascript or your web browser recently?  I'm not seeing the same issue... and what browser are you using?
1036  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Scammer Podgor on: May 12, 2017, 05:36:04 PM
I didn't deal with you recently or block anything. I wasn't even online..

How can I check all the IPs accessing my account?

I believe admins (theymos) are the only one who can see IPs, I'm not sure if normal Staff/Global Mods can as well?

Regardless, it probably will not help your situation... anyone can connect through a VPN and login under a different IP, it doesn't necessarily prove anything. You could have logged in through a VPN, scammed someone, and then come back on under your normal IP and state your account was used by someone else.

IF someone else actually did login using your credentials, the solution to avoiding this is to sign messages from a known staked address when doing trades. If this was part of your standard trading practice, the person logging in as you would not have been able to sign a message as you.

EDIT: Also wanted to add here that the buyer should also request a signed message to do everything in their power to ensure that they are dealing with the same person, especially when a different address is being used to send BTC to.
1037  Other / Meta / Re: Accounts waking up on: May 12, 2017, 10:05:23 AM
There seem to be a huge amount of accounts waking up, I'm assuming this isn't normal?
https://bitcointalk.org/seclog.php
No problem until they do some unsual scam attempt , i dont see why people here always suspect that account waking = hacked account. BTC has been all high during this week so people who might had left Bitcoin in 2015 or when price dropped are coming to party again.

You must be a very proactive person. Have you even looked at the accounts? Some of the accounts are woken up within the same second and don't do shit afterwards, ya they are coming to "party again" by logging in and then staring at their screen. Those that are woken up at the same time are usually in the same month of a registered date. I'm not buying your theory.

It is not a gradual increase, it is waves of accounts getting woken up on certain days and then activity calms down.

Podgor: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=943442

Amount scammed: 0.02602561 BTCs

I have done numerous transactions with him before, he always went first and deals were smooth.
This was the only time i went first, gave him $48 BTC he had to give me $60 AGC.
User blocked my PMs and never gave me the AGC.

Chat screenshots  Embarrassed

Bitcoin txn: https://blockchain.info/tx/8431095b8a8e6988d424aff3f416efa76ccbd4b2bbab1cf48b1d5e765dfcd5ae

Of course this was my mistake for trusting him after having several transactions, i went first with the txn for the first time.
Lesson: No matter how many previous transactions you have done, don't trust them. It's funny how Podgor scammed for such a small amount and broke all the previous trust. More than him, i blame myself.
I've tagged the account, maybe he will come through with the payment.  Undecided
