1021  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is it too late for newbies? on: June 23, 2023, 04:05:30 PM
Hello guys,
I'm happy to be part of this community, and so far I've realized that everyone is more experienced than me, so I don't know how logical it is to ask this question, but I'll ask it anyway.

Is it the right time to invest in Bitcoin?

All my friends are talking about cryptocurrencies, but I still can't wrap my head around it. What would you recommend for someone who has no previous experience? Do any of you have resources that you can recommend to me that will explain cryptocurrencies in the shortest and most simple way?
If you have any success stories you would like to share, I would be very grateful if I could benefit from them as well...

You don't have to demotivate yourself just because you think you are late to get started with bitcoin.
In fact, I would you are still early because bitcoin still has a lot of room to grow.
The fact that you are here and willing to learn more about crypto makes you one step ahead of what you were earlier.

As for the resources, the best resource is this forum itself. Just keep a burning desire to learn as much as you can.
Keep browsing various sections on this forum and keep reading the comments. You will get to learn a lot that way itself.

If you want to go technical then you can read the bitcoin whitepaper and then start reading Mastering bitcoin book.
1022  Economy / Gambling / Re: FreeBitco.in-$200 FreeBTC⭐Win Lambo🔥0.2BTC DailyJackpot🏆$32,500 Wager Contest on: June 23, 2023, 03:38:55 PM
Earlier, people were betting more on the price range $25,001 - $27,500 which is currently having 1.79x odds.
I personally think bitcoin will break the $30k resistance this time and if it does then betting on $30,001 - $32,500 will get us some returns.
I had also placed a bet on $25k to $27.5k price range a few days ago, and I was planning to add more amount in that range. But everything has changed unexpectedly within a short time. Bitcoin price is above $30k at this moment. I just placed a new bet on $30k to $32.5k price range. I'm not sure how Bitcoin price will react on the last week of this month, but it will be great if the price stays in that range.

I have experienced the same earlier when I placed a bet before few days of prediction end date and then in the last 1 or 2 days there was sudden price surge.
Since that day I had decided only to bet on the last day of prediction and this has helped me get a clear picture of the market volatility.
Same goes today and I will be placing a bet now that I know which range would be more suitable to place a bet on.
1023  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: benefits of having mature accounts at 3 casinos (personal experience) on: June 23, 2023, 02:52:43 PM
What I mentioned before are the advantages offered by each casino that I use on a regular basis in terms of incentives that they offer to users, now I will tell you how we can take advantage of the issue of betting and this applies to the casinos that I have mentioned as well as to others where you play, I say this because apart from BC, Stake and Wolf I have tried other casinos but in others I have less mature accounts, as many people already know, cryptocurrency casinos offer instant withdrawals and I try to take advantage of this and I will tell you how, it does Approximately 3 days I won 0.25 bcd in BC with the spin and with this I went up to 11 bcd, I changed the 11 bcd for usdt, I made a little wager and sent the 11 usd to Stake, BC charges 1 usdt commission for withdrawals then in Stake I got 10 usdt, I raised the 10 usdt in Stake to 16 usdt and I withdrew this to my bank account to enjoy them at a personal expense.

I know this topic is long but I wanted to tell you about my experience trying to get a little bit of profit from casinos and this is something that works for me, I would like to know if someone applies this to comment and if they have questions I stay tuned to answer.

That is a good way you have found to use a bonus of one platform to your leverage and reap its benefits on multiple platforms.
Although the trick is nice but I am sure you would know that it won't happen again and again.
At the end you are gambling it to increase the amount and the opposite can happen as well.
You can lose the amount and hence you won't be able to transfer it to other platforms.
It's all about luck from my perspective.
1024  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Multiple timeframes is another means of getting better market clarity on: June 22, 2023, 04:20:58 PM
It's never a bad saying that "two are better than one," and most times in trading, 'multiple' could even be better, if not the best. This topic is a sequel to my initial topic on the better approach between one or more strategies in trading (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5454944.0). As expected, some went for one strategy while others went for combined strategies in which the latter being my preference as it helps me filter my trading signal better than when I use a single strategy.

Now, it's the turn of the timeframe. These two (strategy and timeframe) are so important in trading as they have rightly shaped my trading today. Although I don't condemn any trading approach, yet I discovered in my trading experience that one of the mistakes traders make is to stick to a single timeframe. They believe it will not confuse them forgetting that there are many other traders working on other timeframes that they ignored. They often blame their strategy and might not know that the same strategy is warning them on another timeframe(s) that they ignored.

Whether you are a long or short-term trader, no matter the timeframes you are using to analyze the market, others might be trading differently. This is more reason why I like to use at least 5 timeframes for trading, which will surely increase my chance of capturing the true psychology of the market at that time. And you know what? All of them must agree on a particular direction before I pull the trigger.

This is another style that may slow your trading down, but believe me, it's to your advantage. It's worth it as it filters noise out of the market and makes you trade less, lose less and win more.

Expect more on another topic...

I think 5 timeframes is an overkill but if it is working out for you then well and good.
I mostly stick to 3 timeframes which gives me a good insight of the market.
Also, sticking to just one timeframe is bad because it doesn't give us the overall picture of the market.
Anyone trading, should use at least 2 - 3 timeframes.
1025  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: If my annualized return is above 50%, am I doing well? on: June 22, 2023, 04:17:28 PM
@findnjm I think you are doing extraordinarily good with the returns of 50% which sounds like too good to be true.
One thing that I have learnt from my experience is that never believe anything that is too good to be true.
I never thought arbitraging can give such a huge return because I have tried it myself few years back and the returns were very very minimal.
So if you are making such huge returns then it's probably good for you. Keep making money share your trades if you want us to believe you.
1026  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [Fun Fact] Is Gold scarce ? Bitcoin is ! on: June 22, 2023, 03:56:43 PM
But what if it is an asteroid that is capable of destroying the world like what scientists researched on to have caused the extinction of dinosaurs the and capable to destroy human existence for the next era to begin?  Grin

Without Asteroid, I read about countries that are discovering gold. This is an article I found while I search just for Africa countries:

Five Biggest GoldDiscoveries in Africa in 2022

That is just Africa.

Did you know that gold are buried in oceans which are far more than the ones on the earth surface that all are not yet discovered? No technology to mine that, at least for now.

Did you also know that the earth crust contain far more than the gold on earth surface and beneath the oceans? No technology to mine that too and that will not be possible as it can deteriorate how solid the earth is.
@Charles-Tim That's just spitballing at that point. OP made a pretty sound argument about the alteration of gold's supply since the current supply of gold in the planet is scarce and finite and the only logical way it could be supplanted with is through an asteroid impact. That's just stupid and a little cynical in my opinion. And yes that includes the ones that couldn't be mined due to the current limits in technology.

In the discussion of immutability however OP, while gold can be made infinite virtually, supply isn't the only thing that makes it valuable. It has aesthetic properties that makes it a must-have by every one on the planet, not to mention its practical applications in technology, business, and other ventures which strays from the argument that gold isn't as great as bitcoin cause I could easily add more gold into the system of supply.

Firstly, I haven't made an "argument" that gold is scarce. Checkout the question mark in the title of this thread.
This post was more of a fun post just to tell people that bitcoin is more scarce and more valuable than gold.
Secondly, I didn't know a lot of Gold is already present on Earth. Thanks @Charles-Tim

1027  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why People Still Gamble? on: June 22, 2023, 03:49:00 PM
The ones who have already started gambling continue playing it because its fun for them.
For some it's the addiction that make them continue gambling while knowing how bad it is for themselves.

The ones who are newly starting is mostly because they want to know it works.
There are a lot of people who do the opposite of what is advised and in this case they gamble because they wanna know how its done.

I know some persons will wnat to tell us that they decided to gamble because of the fun that is attached to it when you see yourself winning and others are losing. This could be fun but there is also a major thing that makes us to be interested in gambling.

If there is no money involved then the gambling addictions that many gamblers had been experiencing might be minimal because the reason why many of us always what to gamble is because of the profits that we do get from betting that could be used to pay bills and make our lives better. If there is no money involved in gambling, I am very sure that many persons would leave gambling and go look for other things that will give them consistent fund they can use to settle there problems.

Have you ever seen anyone making a living through gambling ? I haven't.
Besides that, gambling can never give anyone consistent profits. We are bound to lose at one point.
So depending based on the income of gambling would be a bad idea. It is absolutely required to have a stable income to make a living.
1028  Economy / Gambling / Re: FreeBitco.in-$200 FreeBTC⭐Win Lambo🔥0.2BTC DailyJackpot🏆$32,500 Wager Contest on: June 22, 2023, 03:40:43 PM
Once again the sudden surge in bitcoin price has increased the volatility and this will lead to changes in bitcoin price betting.
The odds for the current price range of $27,501 - $30,000 is around 2.73x and we still have 2 days left.
Earlier, people were betting more on the price range $25,001 - $27,500 which is currently having 1.79x odds.
I personally think bitcoin will break the $30k resistance this time and if it does then betting on $30,001 - $32,500 will get us some returns.
A few days ago many bettors was still quite sure that betting in two price ranges would lead to victory but in less than a day everything changed by having to place 3 ranges of choices because in the next few days the price could stay in the price range of $ 30,001 - $ 32,500 and the odds were really attractive for a while but when the bettor realizes that they has to start making changes to the bet, the odds are very likely to go down, but if the drop is only up to 5.00 then it's still attractive, especially if that price range finally wins.
But what if it turns out that at the end of the month the BTC price is in the range of $ 32,501 - $ 35,000 at this time with odds of 31.82, what a difficult choice

The odds for the range of $32,501 - $35,000 have decreased to 25x.
Yesterday when I saw the odds for the range $30,001 - $32,500 it was 18x and now it has decreased to 8x.
There are still more than 24 hours left and I am sure the odds would decrease a lot by that time.
1029  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Luck is what you need in gambling but you have to get to work with trading on: June 21, 2023, 04:56:53 PM
Yes, there are people who consider crypto trading as gambling and to some extent it does look like the same.
But when we actually start trading by learning the fundamentals and technicals and do our own analysis only then we know there's more to it.
The risk management plays an important to cutting losses and maximizing profits in trading.
When we start using stop losses and take profits according to our strategy then keep evaluating and revamping our strategy then we find out it's not like gambling.
We do have to work for it to get us money.

Just imagine you wake up one day to find out that there was huge asteroid that just dropped on earth.
The news is all over and then the world finds out this

Although it's just a made up thing yet there can be such a possibility. We never know.
But what we do know is bitcoin's total supply is just 21 million and that makes it scarce.
It's more precious than gold.

1033  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A no-Bitcoin friend turned a old Bitcoiner on: June 19, 2023, 05:15:54 PM
Why would someone try to hide their Bitcoin involvement from their friends that tried to teach them all this while?

I feel somehow about my friend because I just found out that he has been into Bitcoin for a long time, probably before me, what's surprising to me is whenever I tried to enlighten him about Bitcoin he always Shawn me down and say he has no interest..

Today I get to know from a relative of his, who thought that we are into Bitcoin investment together, a coincidence that brings up some suspicious thought, now I am left with thoughts of why he was hiding this all along from me?

At first I though maybe he was scared bringing me along, but it doesn't make any sense because I thought I knew better than him and I needed to teach him.

What do you think is probably ongoing here?

I think that's quite normal because a lot of people like him and me are reluctant to say about our investments to anyone.
A lot of people care more about their privacy and security and there are some who also think they don't want to take the risk of getting others money at risk.
Also, there are few people who don't want others to get ahead of themselves and so that might be one of the reasons why your friend didn't tell you about bitcoin.
1034  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is there a glyph for a Satoshi on: June 19, 2023, 05:02:56 PM
Personally i'd choose symbol which can be read as "S".
Maybe we can use $ for sats once the dollar guys no longer need it Tongue
Or "Bitcoin Sats": BTC$ Cheesy I couldn't find an ascii $ with 2 vertical lines, that would be even better.

That's really BS (not bull shit). LOL.
Why can't we keep it really simple and follow the same design pattern as the symbol bitcoin.
For example: the one is below is a good resemblance according to me

1035  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling, investment, stocks..... on: June 19, 2023, 04:31:35 PM
That is a nice question and the comments I read gave me a good insight about why it is not the right investment as of now.
Firstly, there are not good options to buy stocks related to gambling sites and even if there are some it is still better to invest in crypto directly.
This does makes sense because by investing in crypto directly you would know what you are doing and own your coins.
By investing in stocks related to gambling sites you would never know what's going on in the backend.
1036  Economy / Gambling / Re: balance on: June 19, 2023, 04:22:15 PM
BTC price going up eventually will occur, collecting the higher reward now only helps if thats generally going to be true.  I think in this cycle within halvening etc. its a reasonable aspiration.   I retained a few of the spins just to see if we do repeat the waves back and forth and see the lower price again.  Im not near to the level as the people who have been doing that a month or many months, right now it doesnt make a large difference to me but just out of interest.  Overall I suppose reward will adjust alot if BTC does go anywhere near to its ATH again which is beyond the horizon Im not optimistic particularly near term.   Its quite fair it can do so next year maybe another year after that, lots of patience is needed for BTC I finally realized after many years that has to be observed for bigger picture gains.

Whatever happens with the BTC price now it is the perfect time as discussed here to buy as much FUN tokens as possible,2 free rolls and you buy one of them and this means we are in a great moment to invest and get as many FUN now as possible. You may say that it is worthless as the price of FUN is in this low range from quite a lot of time but I strongly believe that when the next bull run will come we will most likely see the FUN token price at 100 or near 100 Satoshi and that is a huge win if we keep as many of them until then,it is like 700% profit in a percentage range, very much well the effort as it does not cost much to get as many of them as possible nowadays.

The price of FUN token is decreasing day by day and is currently standing at 15 sats.
It's sad to see the BTC value of your locked FUN tokens decrease every day.
But for the benefits it brings us, the temporary decrease in value can be ignore.
Even I think that FUN token price will increase in the next bull run and it's a great time to buy right now.
1037  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Buy ETH as much as you can.... on: June 17, 2023, 11:48:41 AM
Other than bitcoin, ETH is the only best investment I have ever made. I was fortunate enough to get in early.
I will be holding it for a good time and regardless to say bitcoin and eth are the only coins out there which has a lot of trust.
All the other coins are just like passing storms with a hype.

On the other side, it is still not a perfect coin and it will take some time for it to get over it's issues.
But that can't be the reason for us not to buy ETH.
1038  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why haven't anyone created a crypto currency name Merit yet? on: June 17, 2023, 11:39:04 AM
Lately i been looking into altcoins more and more since I have got some more money in my life and want to make more investments then only in BTC.
One thing I was wondering is why nobody yet have created a crypto currency under the name "Merit" yet. Smiley

it's many smart people on this forum with a lot of knowledge about things like this and I think it could be a good currency to create. Smiley

Merit on bitcointalk is a gesture that people like what you are posting and your contributions are valued.
Merit can be tokenised but that would need a big implementation in bitcointalk source code and also it would need a secondary market where it can be traded.
Currently, the value of a merit is the value of a user's post but if tokenized then the value will be decided by demand and supply based on the secondary market.
Such a system is already implemented in Reddit where the "Cryptocurrency" channel users give each other "moons".
Moons can be traded in secondary market and it's current price is 339 satoshis = $0.09

1039  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Success or Fail? - Talking about Gambling as a major income on: June 17, 2023, 09:45:05 AM
The 3rd opinion option is the one that all gamblers should try to achieve because that is what can get us peace while gambling.
Having a good self control over gambling and deciding a budget that we can afford to lose will eventually make us gamble only for fun.
Treating gambling as an income source would be a mistake no one should commit.
1040  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gender in Gambling [differences between Women and Men in Gambling] on: June 17, 2023, 09:16:55 AM
To be honest, I have never seen a women gambling in the real world but yes I have seen them on online casinos.
It's hard to judge their behavior online but I guess there shouldn't be much difference between men and women in gambling.
But it's obvious that men are a lot more than women in gambling and most of the men won't like women who gambles.
Women are mostly seen as the one who runs the house and men won't want them to gamble away the money they kept to run the house.
it's different in my country, gambling is legal and we here see a lot of housewives who are heavy gamblers and they don't even take care of their children properly and that's what makes me quite hate women gamblers (because usually they forget their responsibilities in their family)

indeed gambling is open to all genders, but men and women have different responsibilities and roles in social life and also in the family, i'm not really sure about the research from the article, so i don't really want think hard about it.

Exactly what I am saying. If women starts gambling and get addicted to it then the chances are high that they would end up using money meant for family responsibilities.
Taking care of children is one of them and managing the expenses is another, both of which requires the women to pay more attention into.
But gambling takes it away and hence people portray as them as bad people. It's a harsh reality but that's what the truth is.
