Wondering why I have not received tracking on batch 4 yet? Anybody get tracking yet, they were to ship out on the 12th.

Carra23 payment received thank you. I have left only because if we are not sure of what is going on I don't want to be advertising a site that is not working. I will come back if they get things worked out.

Is it ok/safe to run a single unit using 3 cables that have double 6 pins? 8 pin to dual 6 pin.
I was hoping I could run 1 dedicated cable to each blade, then use the 3rd cable and split it between both blades.
The Corsair CM850 only comes with 3 cables.
Thoughts?
Strato
Should work fine as your still using a single rail PSU.

Or even worst at Slush's Pool as old shares are discarded and you could end up with no payment at all.

The test unit also seems to cut out at 9.45V @ 200MHz even if I start at a higher voltage, and 9.75V @ 250MHz.
If anyone else has had any luck starting these at 10V or under I'd be interested in hearing it.
This is a little disappointing.

So I reset both miners and plugged one in via ethernet but I don't see a "Paragon Technologies or it maybe Shenzhen."
Where are you looking for the IP's at? My S1's either showed up with the name of Paragon Technologies or Shenzhen SHX Technologies but now that you have reset the miner try to just type in 192.168.1.99 in your browser I just read your first post here that you have already set your pool information? if so they should have started mining to your pool? Now that you have reset the miners back to default you will need to config your pool information again.

Will the miners automatically connect to the internet if I connect them via ethernet? Once I connect them via ethernet how do I find them on the network?
Thanks
On my Iphone I down loaded the app Fing and it shows all the IP being used on the modem. The S1 should show up as Paragon Technologies or it maybe Shenzhen. Edit: You could always just hit the reset button and the IP should be 192.168.1.99 then you can change them to any unused IP.

I just upgraded to the new firmware. It was a pretty simple process of downloading the file from the Bitmain website and then upgrading using the miner interface. It's only been running for a few minutes, but so far so good.
Same for me. (First time for me to flash a Bitmain miner)

Awesome review. Thanks. Here's a question that will leave me feeling either very dumb or very bummed: Do you need to do anything else after connecting the Ethernet cable and 4 PCI-E 6pin cables, plugging in the PSU and flipping the PSU switch on? Because I've done that with both my S5s, using 3 different PSUs (2 of which are brand new), and neither are turning on. So my hunch is my S5s came DOA, unless I'm missing something. Anything stand out to you that I could be missing?
Did you paperclip the PSU's? EDIT: need to paperclip the green and a black wire (either side of the green) this acts a the switch on a computer since there is not one. Then you can use the switch on the back of the PSU to turn it off/on.

Your fan speed it abnormally high as even OC at 375 freq mine does not go about 3600 but then my temps are 49/48. So I take it you have it in a warmer place than mine?
EDIT: my fan is staying at 3480 after the new firmware but hashing a little less now at 1230 GH at 375 Freq

The main advice I'd give is that picking PPS for the payment method is a bit risky. This means you'll be paying miners out of pocket until you find a block. You are taking the risk of variance. There's a paper around somewhere that shows a formula for computing what sort of buffer you need, in bitcoins, to run a PPS pool with a low risk of ruin (ie. running out of money to pay miners). It's large - you'll be need a few hundred thousand dollars of bitcoins if I recall correctly.
The other downside of PPS is you are open to block withholding attacks. A miner mines with you but withholds all solutions that would solve a bitcoin block. You are still paying them PPS so they lose nothing. The pool loses a lot.
Interesting... Seems like PPS isn't ideal for a new pool starting out. Would it be better to start with something else until blocks are found, then switch to PPS? Want to know how to become a PPS BTC millionaire pool operator......start off with a billion BTC.

What about the Doge field? Are you adding scrypt mining at your pool?
No the email that Gil sent out the other day said the DOGE coin being given out was just something extra even though the pool is not mining it.

Phil I just seen where Bitmain crossed out the 9V feature on the S% sells thread? I guess this is no longer something for us to look at in the future?
Notes 1. Power consumption figures vary with your PSU’s efficiency, the ambient operating temperature and the accuracy of the power meter. 2. PSU: A power supply unit is not included, and you will need to provide an ATX PSU. There are 4 PCI-e connectors for +12V DC input and all four are required. Do not connect more than one PSU to the same hashing board.
3. When better power efficiency is needed in the future due to higher network difficulties, you may want to buy some special PSUs 9V DC with more than 10A output, which will allow you to have a 0.2J/GH mining efficiency, but at lower hashing speed.
not so according to dogie's thread. dogie said since 9 volt psu's are rare and you kind of need to know what you are doing. they crossed it off. I must remind everyone I have yet to see any demo on this 9v setup so I AM IN THE THE DARK SO FAR. This is a hoped for solution . Will wait and hope someone with a free review miner uses it as a test in case it does not work as planned.

It isn't new it is used. Is there another way to login? ssh? Do you hold the reset while powered on or off?
Did you ask the seller? Where did you buy it? Also does it appear to be hashing? (eg.. leds flashing, generating heat)

7 minutes is not much of a test. Agree as most have a board dropping off after a prolong amount of time...mine had one board stop hashing after 28Hrs at normal 50/49 temps. Took a while and a couple of reboots to get it going again.

lots of cables left!
Hi klondike I will take you up on 4 cables special sent to the US. PM me the details on how to pay. Thanks Payment sent for 4 cables 84de1fd6a6b0687b642a51cadd9bbee0d35f1b8d98756ecaa018fd2a740e5280

Clicking the reboot option always fixes it for me. I haven't had to power cycle and my temps are sitting in the mid-low 60s. I'm going to have to try the new firmware.
I tried both and neither would get the one board running and was only reading half watts at the wall. That is when I put the freq back to default and it started working again. I am pretty sure it was not a temp issue. Since flashing the new firmware it has been running for 5 hours back at the 375 freq and will see what tomorrow brings.

I have an S3 which showed up today I can not log in. I do get to the screen where you enter the login and pass and I enter root / root no luck. I tried root / admin no luck. I powered off and pressed the hole beside the cat 5 LEDs for ten seconds, tried again with new browser window, same thing, tried with it powered on, same thing. What am I missing here please. It must be something dumb but it is driving me mad. I had another one from ebay show up doa today.
If you bought it used then prior owner may have changed the password?

Well they arrived today! Now we've got some work to do.

24 is NOT a typical bitcoin number (21, 42, etc is) It is for the S5 and a EVGA 1300 G2 though.. Yes, hearing protection is advised. Im planning on running 2 per 1300 EVGA using the wiring diagram Philip posted in his review thread. Will there be any issues running 2 per 1300? I also have a handful of 1000w and 850w PSUs Do you think the Corsair 1200xi Platinum could power two of these? Expensive PSU, but I have 6 of them. Strato You might be better off running 3 S5's off 2 of those 1200w PSU's so not to over max them and gives you a chance to set the freq higher than the default. Interesting... Can you give insight on how to wire that correctly? Strato If you look at page 3 of the S5 manual you will see as long as you dont mix PSU's on the same board you can use more than one PSU to power a miner. So you will power miner #1 with 4 plugs from the first PSU and also plug into both plugs on one side of same board of miner#2. Then use the second PSU to power the other side of miner #2 and to power all 4 plugs on Miner #3. This will give you room to run the miner at a higher freq as at freq 375 my miner draws @635 watts at the wall and get @1220GH. https://bitmaintech.com/files/download/AntMiner-S5%20user%20guide.pdf
