1041  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Don't be Emotional, Don't be Greedy on: January 12, 2021, 09:23:04 AM
Now the market is undergoing its biggest correction after this 1 month increase, and the total amount of cash in liquid is around $ 2.2 billion from almost all exchanges that have futures trading on it.
I hope this correction will not go deeper.
and the market immediately recovered.
I am very curious to see whether there could be some altcoin small bull run or not: there are a few chances that if the bitcoin price stabilizes, then the altcoins have some space to grow.
I abandoned altcoins long ago but I saw this pattern every time.

Diallo is officially a Manchester United player starting January. Diallo arrives in England somewhat under the radar but he has impressed many observers in Serie A with his pace and trickery out wide.
Rio Ferdinand has described Amad Diallo as a potential "world-beater" and feels there are comparisons to when Manchester United signed Cristiano Ronaldo.
I mean, he's a very talented player but comparing him already to CR7 looks too much to me.

1043  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Sell my bitcoin from 2010 on: January 12, 2021, 09:07:36 AM
Hello
after 12 years i remember i bought bitcoin in 2010
is it possible to sell more than 50,000 bitcoins at once or is it better to sell direct to a private individual like grayscale or microstrategy?

Only in your dreams... Anyway, that's a ridiculous question. Selling anything worth $1.5 billion worth is going to take some effort.
What a tragedy is to have 50000 BTC and not knowing what to do with them!  Grin

Going back to the question, if that was my situation, I would start contacting all the major exchanges for some split OTC trades. Of course, that requires some effort, but with 50000 btc available, it should be worth it.
Small dog, tall weeds.
1044  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Helping (usually new) People Choose Their Wallet(s) on: January 12, 2021, 09:00:18 AM
But I've resorted to using old android phones permanently offline running Electrum as a pseudo-hardware wallet.

You can use two phones, one has a watching wallet, and the other one is permanently offline. They use QR codes to transfer data. You sign the tx on the offline wallet.

If you implement some encryption method (e.g. using android encryption which is activated by default since android 6.0 i believe), you already got a proper air-gapped wallet setup running.
This is definitely more secure than a hardware wallet but comes with less convenience.

If you are fine with the extra steps it takes to send transactions, there is no good reason to switch to a hardware wallet besides mobility and/or faster access.
Ok, wait for a second here as I'll show you my old setup and tell me how good that was.
I was using a SamsungGalaxy S9: no root, updated to the latest manufacturer firmware, no biometrics ever activated and encrypted from the start (I guess using samsung knox).
The only point of using this phone was to have bitcoin in it. At the time I was using Samourai Wallet (and after a look at walletscrutiny.com I started having some doubts about it). Never used any other app and deactivated all the bloatware.
To watch the holdings I was using Sentinel (SW companion watch only app).
How secure that was?
1045  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Overview of Bitcointalk Signature-Ad Campaigns [Last update: 08-Jan-21] on: January 11, 2021, 11:11:15 AM
Open spot in Roobet campaign:
We have 1x Full Member position open - apply now.
One member was moved up from Sr. Member to Hero/Legendary, which means we have 1x Full Member & 1x Sr. Member position open - not any hero/legendary positions. Sorry!
To clarify Hhampuz is looking for 1 Full Member and 1 Sr. Member to replace two slots in Roobet Signature Campaign. There are already quite a few FM applications but less SM ones due to the fact mentioned above.  Wink

Always the most accurate TA available these days.
1047  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Don't be Emotional, Don't be Greedy on: January 11, 2021, 10:59:21 AM
Life of the average crypto trader: always scared to take profit but always ready to bring losses home. People were buying more on the way up while now the majority is ready to sell on the way down. Completely irrational but this is how the market moves and if you don't want to get caught in this stupid game, always DYOR and sets your rational (not emotional targets).
1048  Economy / Economics / Re: Hamish McRae: making reasonable predictions or just another speculator? on: January 11, 2021, 10:55:42 AM
I absolutely second extasie's thoughts on this. We are witnessing the least rational market behaviour the world has probably ever witnessed: with all the mess around the globe markets feel astonishingly disconnected from the reality we see outside the window.
I wouldn't be completely sure we're in an early bull market behaviour but, as things are moving forward, it's becoming increasingly hard to understand the market rationale and behaviour.
I didn't know about the wall of worry but it seems to fit the narrative of what we are witnessing.
1049  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How risky is Tether to Bitcoin? on: January 11, 2021, 10:49:42 AM
It is pure FUD when they try to convince you that bitcoin relies on Tether to survive or go up in price! USDT is just another centralized shitcoin that has offered some utility to the cryptocurrency traders (mostly altcoin focused) that needed a way to both transfer funds between exchanges and an escape tool when bitcoin price (and consequently altcoin prices) drop. Which is why the most amount of Tether is always printed during bitcoin bear markets. So it has stayed alive this long.

When Tether is shut down some day in the future (it is not even a matter of "if" with centralized altcoins, it is a matter of "when") it will definitely cause a lot of panic in the cryptocurrency market as a whole and will create a lot of panic sells that crashes bitcoin price (and consequently altcoin prices). But in the long run nothing will change about bitcoin since as I said in the beginning bitcoin doesn't care about centralized altcoins and what they do.
Exactly, and if we look at what has happened to XRP it is really only a matter of time for a tether showdown. The problem is that USDT is too widely spread across all major markets. In the crypto world, it surely represents one dollar and many consider it to be a true USD equivalent. Few know that there's a company behind it and there are lots of doubts about the fact that it's completely backed, or not, by real USD deposited in banks.
I don't buy the too big too fail certainty found almost everywhere when thinking of tether. It's big, yes and it can fail.
1050  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: User got access to their 127 BTC after 9 years on: January 11, 2021, 10:35:21 AM
Unbelievable, simply unbelievable! What a great load of luck this guy had finding lost private keys from the past with a fortune in them. If he's smart enough he can also claim the corresponding shitcoins (bch, bsv.....) and go for a full Jackpot!
For some, life can be really surprising!
1051  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Become a member of a bitcoin exchange by investing 1btc on: January 10, 2021, 03:48:03 PM
Let's see a detailed business plan and then, maybe, I could give you one bitcoin. Show us the company, who's behind it, your target market etc.
And most of all why should we choose you over others?
I start to smell something here.
1052  Economy / Speculation / Re: When The Inevitable Happens With The Dump - What Will Bitcoin Be Worth? on: January 10, 2021, 03:28:32 PM
I think it is going to happen very soon, the dump will be happening but what will happen when everything on CMC shows red? How far will Bitcoin fall?

After the crash I think it might settle around the $12,000-$13,000 mark before finding a way to work upwards again over a period of time.

The all time high was set just hours ago of $40,180.37 according to CMC
_____
Coinmarketcap? I thought only noobs and altcoiners used CMC as a Bitcoin price reference.
The great old Jimbo, always making me laugh! May I suggest you've been too nice here? You could have named the altcoiners shitcoiners for what's worth. And you forgot to mention that CMC gets used by defi yield farmers and ICO nostalgic too!
1053  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin regret story, Need advise! on: January 10, 2021, 03:25:04 PM
I feel sorry for you but I'm afraid we're gonna be reading way more similar stories in the future. For those who knew bitcoin since the old days, we were expecting some big price rise but the thing is many of us got fooled by the altcoins/Icos/new best coin madness.
It's never too late to get better, don't get so bad at you.
1054  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 10, 2021, 03:18:28 PM

Fuck I hate banks.

I know Jimbo, we all have to deal with this shit at some point in our lives.
1055  Economy / Economics / Re: Stay in HOLD or switch to DCA on: January 10, 2021, 03:16:26 PM
Depends on what you value the most over the long run because, if you ask me, I would never have so many ethers. I've always suggested holding, at least, 80% btc and I don't like your picks. As I said too many ethers, the useless doge and then you have ltc that always never outperform btc.
If you want to have more fiat money rather than btc you may be fine but I believe everyone's goal should be more on stacking as many sats as possible. Good luck on your endeavour anyway!
1056  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Overview of Bitcointalk Signature-Ad Campaigns [Last update: 08-Jan-21] on: January 09, 2021, 09:26:13 AM

1057  Economy / Economics / Re: SkyBridge launches SkyBridge Bitcoin Fund LP on: January 09, 2021, 09:19:58 AM
SkyBridge investment thesis reads more like a bitcoin love declaration! Can you imagine all the companies' boards discussing how to plan to put a % of their cash reserves into btc as we speak? Trust me, that is happening for quite a long time now  Cool
1058  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 09, 2021, 09:16:50 AM
I have to say ... i'm happy to finally hang away my Mcdonalds hat.

Good man!

Frankly, I'm surprised you stayed there for so long... Did you really have to? Couldn't Bitcoin help?

As a bad educated person with a serious boating accident at a worse moment ever .... Meh nothing could helped me ...

But happy to see you back and that all went well, I wasn't very around to read up last few days, but saw you had some illness, good you're alright brother.

Flipped my last burgers yesterday, think after 17y I have had a good run over there, om in my early 30's now... now its time to go somewhere else
At some point we would all need to come up with better boating accident stories or they ain't go to work bro.  Cool
1059  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2021-1-2 Coindesk - Bitcoin Worth $1B Leaves Coinbase as Institutions ‘FOMO’ Buy on: January 09, 2021, 09:13:22 AM
Where do you think the printed money goes? It certainly doesn't go in my pockets, let alone in yours.
https://fred.stlouisfed.org/series/CURRCIR
https://tradingeconomics.com/united-states/money-supply-m0
Yes, it's logical to me: the more they print the more they sustain the crippling economy.
You're right on one thing though: where the heck is inflation?

I cannot disagree if you are implying that bitcoin is being glaringly manipulated. Tether is 50% of bitcoin’s volume and they can infinite print USDT without regulation to continue the pump.

However, it appears everyone in the forum will call it FUD if I ask questions about this.
I wasn't specifically talking about tether but, FUD or not, I believe that the same that's been done by central banks with markets can be applied to what UDST printing is doing to the bitcoin market. I'm basing my thoughts on what I see and, hopefully, these facts can't be denied.
How that is going to unfold? Who the f knows!
1060  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gamblers - How do you use your signature campaign earnings? on: January 08, 2021, 07:30:32 AM
I used to gamble some of my earnings but not anymore, they go into savings mode now. I am already supporting the companies which I advertise via my presence here and for this reason, I prefer not to bet the money I earn.
Sometimes, I may try my luck but my wagering skills are long gone.
