Hello, I am interested in switching to zpool from miningpoolhub because zpool supports more coins.

It says in setup to set profitability factors in .bat file. How do I figure out the profitability factor for the rig I am using? I will be using a 1070, 1080, and 2 rx 480s for now.

Or is it fine to not set any factors in -p and leave it default?

Thanks for the help!

Its the concept of making a normalized factor (not unlike a mole in chemistry) to rate them all to each other.

If you are reading in GH/S, then it would be 1,2,3,etc
On the same scale, if your algo is rated in Mh/s, it would be 0.001,0.002,0.003,etc.

My normalization for GPU walkthrough concepts can be applied to any device or algo.

I just realized I have no clue what brand of Nvidia cards are good for mining. Could you recommend some? ^^
Which brand got the best fans? Lifespan of these cards is crucial Cheesy

Avoid Gigabyte cards with sleeve bearing fans. I've had to RMA 5 of the cards below in 5 months of mining because the fan either stopped completely or started going haywire e.g. stopping and starting, erratically changing speed etc. They are in a low dust, ~20 degrees C ambient environment and mostly ran <60% fan speed.

There are some tuts around on how to replace the bearings but there's no point on cards still under warranty. I think I'll sell mine on and migrate to a model with more durable fans so keen to hear recommendations too!

yeah i have six gigabyte cards sitting around that need to be rmaed right now

EVGA by far has the best quality and warranty combined.

I have found replacement fans on amazon for a relatively cheap price.

Recently I bought these for my old GTX980 that's fans were completely seized by the time the replacements arrived, and had them removed and external fans blowing on the card to keep it under 80*c.....

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01M4L4V7L

All I did was remove the offending fan(s) and search the part number on its rear sticker.

Hi,
Im new in mining coin. I have a "noob" question. Please help me  Huh
Due to the high rate of BTC payout's fee, I want to be payout in ETH.
Does Zpool support to payout in ETH? If Yes, how to config it ?
Thank you.

Not according to the webpage - "BTC is the only guaranteed payout currency"

It also states that this pool only pays out in the coins it mines...

I.E.  no ETH.

"We are short of this currency (426.66249478 VIVO). Please STOP your miners and switch to BTC until we find more VIVO blocks.
YOU are responsible if you continue to mine for VIVO dispite this warning."

That doesn't make any sense. Why can you not pay me the 2 VIVO you owe me from your stash of over 400?

what about the other people wishing to get paid out in that coin?  This is why payout in any coin other than BTC can be delayed and is subject on the pool mining them to pay you out.  It's a complex process.

Does this pool allow me to mine z-coin?
Since supr nova is closing the zcoin mining pool, and I hate miningpoolhub, I am looking for alternatives.
you don't pick the coin you mine, you only pick the algorithm, and the pool serves you work for multiple coins and pays you in your selected coin.   see the zpool.ca mainpage for more, and also reading this whole thread is a good idea.

Ok thx,
let me reiterate my question, does zpool.ca support the Lyra2z algorithm then? ( which is what zcoin uses )
I remember seeing it before, but its not on there now... if it pops back on the list of algos on the upper right of the zpool.ca site, then its active.

crackfoo can comment more, or maybe he has in prior posts....

Hi Crackfoo

Can you check LTC again - over 24h since we got a block and it has killed scrypt profitability again!  I really think we should drop it from the pool, it does give a nice uptick on returns when we do get a block but they take soooo long...

Thanks

the problem is you can't base short term profitability on high diff coins when pool TTF is rather high.....   Its a tough decision to make for sure...

Maybe on coins like LTC, add a port specifically for that coin?  Might be an interesting idea... but i fear it would not get enough users if configured that way.

too much overclock can cause problems;  it will calculate a valid share as a bad one sometimes?

luck can still be a huge factor;  I have had periods where my hashrate poolside was low, but it happened in long waves, not major spikes.

major spikes are always problems with the miner app resetting, internet connection, or major pool outages.....  Check your system logs for app crashes and system reboots....

The amount of shares submitted was either indicative of the miner app resetting, the pc resetting, or something along those lines.... if they are up all the time,  this can be a good thing to watch.

Reboot a miner.  Check amount of shares at the 24 hour mark.  You can then count that amount of shares as an average for 24 hours....  and see how many days your miner stays running concurrently.   Even if internet connection is lost, or there are pool reconnects;  if the miner app never closes, it will maintain its count on shares....  so its one thing to pay attention to.  If you use the -r 0 flag in the launch string;  the miner app will reset every time it gets disconnected.  keep this in mind as well.

Lastly;  on your password, you should put the algo name you are mining....

S/A/T for all my miners:

Miners 1: 0/1820/1822
Miners 2: 0/14262/14282
Miners 3: 0/15012/15029
Miners 4: 0/2260/2260
Miners 5: 0/2315/2315
Miners 6: 0/1860/1861

Those are very short uptimes on all but two, like half a day only.....  so it seems the miners have rebooted, or something else going on...

As you can see in my graphs, you can only see the dips of the frontend going offline, or the time I rebooted my miners when I got home from a long trip last night.

There have been pool problems with some coinboxes having corrupted drives as crackfoo has mentioned not long ago....  keep that in mind as well.

Is it still exhibiting this behavior today, or is the graph leveled out looking like my link above?

I just checked the password reset feature.

Its marked as disabled.

I am assuming people have been spamming or trying to abuse this feature and its being addressed..... that's my best guess.

In the past, I have used the feature and successfully reset my password.

So I would say at the worst, sign up for a new account, and submit a support ticket asking when the password support feature will be put back online.

I just place a shortcut to my start.bat in my Windows Startup folder.

Alternatively use Windows Task Scheduler to start you "start.bat" file on log-in.
That's the odd thing, running it from startup folder doesn't work because it tries to run the script in windows directory. Changing the path in the bat doesn't fix this. Haven't tried running it as a task, hopefully that will fix it (though the AHK method works). Edit: just tried as scheduled task, same problem. Throws an error when it runs.

Weird.

I have it on all my systems in the startup folder as a shortcut to the .bat file.

Yeah, I use the startup folder myself.

Since Win10 (maybe Cool they don't allow certain activities, you have to create a batch file link, then manually drag it into the c:/program data/........../startup folder....

This works the best for auto-launching any miner on system bootup.

the Internet did not disappear, the miners worked stably. what can be the reason for such differences?
can this be a pool problem or with my hardware?

Whats your miner's A/R/S numbers? accepted, rejected, stale

I see solid connection and no problems on my end except for ~4-6 hours ago;  but the frontend was offline then... so its understandable in my eyes....  The deltas during these times don't correlate to actual historical deltas cause the frontend can only see stuff when its online.

IU was speaking of the S/A/T (Stale/Accepted/Total) reports from the miners themselves;  the live readout on the miners should show the numbers when a valid or invalid share is submitted;  for instance one of my xevan miners since last nights home equipment reboot shows: 0/1431/1436

Before last night, it showed quite a difference between total and accepted, but I chalk those up to me being away from home for two weeks and living in the rural area with bad internet....

I dont know axactly but this option must be in gpu bios.
amd polaris bios have section: temp/fan speed

Its definitely not a bios option....

For nvidia you would need their SDK, build a custom BIOS, submit for review and signature, when you get it back; then you can flash it to your card....

NVSMI is the best way to do it, as it's a part of the driver itself.....   you can use it to force your card into a certain power state, which not even afterburner or nvidiainspector can do......

Hi guys. do we all observe strangeness in the hashray and the work of the miners on the neoscript? In the last five hours.

what can be associated with such a drawdown hash?

I am seeing the same thing, except with Lyra2RE2.  I have been hashing it for 5 hours and the last two have seen a massive drop off in hash rate.

Edit:  Seems to have just started working again.  Perhaps my miner was stuck in a lower difficulty pool?  It seems to affect the miner that was mining at a difficulty of 256 a lot more than the one mining at a difficulty of 90.
Ive noticed on some algos, profitability (luck shares) seems to come in waves... rising up and down in the hashrate displayed.

Im not sure if this is something related to your situation, but I remember seeing it a bit on skien, x11evo and in lyra2 in the past...

seeing the photo;  it looks like you were loosing internet connection or something.....

What is wrong with this calculation?

zpool payout at 0.0025 ($40)

Average bitcoin transfer cost 0.00125 ($20)  https://bitinfocharts.com/comparison/bitcoin-transactionfees.html#3m

= 50% lost in transfer??

I have never transfered any bitcoin so I realize I must be missing something.

per individual TX... yes... but the pool sends a massive single TX...  plus, that is not subtracted from your earnings, it comes out of the pool's 2%.
1075  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: █▓▒░-< [ZPOOL.CA][HashTap™][FlexFee™][SegWit] The miners multipool >-░▒▓█ on: December 15, 2017, 05:40:37 AM
I'm using MultiPoolMiner for several Zpool algos and the daily average for me is around 0.00029. About 2 weeks ago was fine but since then it dropped significantly (at around the NiceHash hack). I started writing down the Total Unpaid balance into a spreadsheet every day and by calculating the deltas for the timeframes I'm getting only 0.0001 BTC daily which is way less than expected for an overclocked GTX 1060.

crackfoo could you give an explanation for this massive difference?
hey there

You're tracking the unpaid balance (in bitcoin?), which is what I do.  With the massive spike in BTC a week or two ago, your earnings in BTC should decrease, yet equivalent earnings in fiat should remain the same or be higher.  I don't know about the 1060, but my O/C'd 960 does about that now too.  It is what it is.

.earl

Yes, I'm tracking the unpaid BTC and once in a while I write the time and balance into a spreadsheet calculating the elapsed time and balance delta. From that I calculate the 24 hours earning. MultiPoolMiner is getting every algo's earnings from Zpool's API and calculates my earnings based on a previous benchmark speeds (which get updated every minute so they become very accurate mining speed measurements) and also makes an average of earnings reported by Zpool as well. So it becomes pretty accurate after a few days. Usually it's around 0.00028 ±19% (0.00023-0.00033) BTC per day and that is what I was getting about weeks ago but since then my earnings went down to about 1/3 which is not profitable at all anymore.

So my question is why is this huge earnings difference from 2 weeks ago. Is there some bug in the profitability calucation on Zpool's side or on the exchange?

Two weeks ago BTC was ~10k USD cheaper; so when you compare your numbers, you must factor in BTC sale price at that time, or rather before that time....

It makes sense that earnings are .5x of what they were if the price is 2x now.

It's a sliding scale.
1076  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: █▓▒░-< [ZPOOL.CA][HashTap™][FlexFee™][SegWit] The miners multipool >-░▒▓█ on: December 15, 2017, 12:34:45 AM
"0.0025 are paid several evenings each week."

I bet lots of people will love this.   Hopefully it doesn't stack too much TX fees on you because it looks like you loose about half of your 2% average pool fee....

As for profitability concerns;  guys:

This recent nicehash instance caused a big ripple in profitability.    I have noticed it tapering off again myself;  but;  it is still consistent.

Most of the people comparing their earnings to nicehash earnings need to realize that they charged a premium for the rental, which could trickle down easier to you than the luck factor of finding blocks etc.

FWIW;  my profitability is still on par with what I have been getting in the past few months.   No major deviations.
1077  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Sixth alt coin thread I forgot to mod last thread. on: December 15, 2017, 12:31:07 AM
So... How long does the bitcoin network take to drop an unconfirmed transaction? One of my transfers I initiated a week ago is still unconfirmed in memory pool...

Viabtc transaction accelerator is chronically overloaded. I tried confirmtx.com but that was just a scam that wasted my time and $4 worth of btc. Avoid like the plague...
If you sent with little/no fee, you are at the mercy of the network;  but if you see the TX in the blockchain explorer;  its in the mempool waiting to be processed still.....  Gotta love that fork BTC did to make BCH......  Totally sped up the network.... *shrug*

@marvell there are some pretty tight system permissions to do stuff with the hidden folder that contains the startup/start menu items....

like you can't create a shortcut in there or the root, you must make one in a separate folder than move/copy it to the startup folder.

Its these details that make me hate MSOS.....

1078  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Sixth alt coin thread I forgot to mod last thread. on: December 14, 2017, 07:19:55 AM
@marvell2  Im working on a command level batch utilizing powershell commands to make a batch file update itself and any other apps remotely;  which is along the same lines of what you are trying to accomplish...   But doing things recursively in dos;  is much harder than with workflow type languages like C, powershell native, etc....  Ill admit, I havent touched the project in a while, and need to get on it.   When its finished, it will all be public use code;  so ill give you a heads up when it reaches something that I consider worthy of sharing.

The ability to remotely install a miner from scratch on a machine would be nice;  and I think it could be done using the $C type shares as long as you have login credentials for the machine you are sending it to.   Since Windows 7, they have locked down the "$" shares;  but over the past few months I have been able to get into them again.... so I think its very possible to do it....  You just have to make sure the machine when it has its OS clean installed, to have network file share access enabled; and you have Admin rights in tat machine's user credentials you use to connect with.

If im not mistaken, you are tying to automate the setup of the miner on the machine in this way, right?
1079  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Fan curve for Nvidia without Afterburner on: December 14, 2017, 06:34:06 AM
Nvidia Inspector cli with parameter -setFanSpeed:0,80 ( 1st value is the number of the card 0,1,2,3... , second value is the fixed fan speed in percentage ) , you can use also -setTempTarget:0,0,70 , -setPowerTarget:0,70 if its working for your purpose.

example : nvidiaInspector.exe -setFanSpeed:0,80 -setFanSpeed:1,80 -setFanSpeed:2,80

This do the same as set fixed fan speed in MSI Afterburner , as for fan curve there is no such functionality for now.

This.

nvidiainspector can do it well....

but NVSMI is built into the driver.

If you learn to use it;  you will be able to send some pretty advanced commands to your video card.

I haven't been holding, as im a poor boy and spend my BTC regularly to get by.

But I am holding onto:
0.0125BTC (plus the 0.033 yobit still owes me on the sig campaign once they reload the hotwallet)
0.188 LTC
0.0 ETH I never trusted it from day one
0.0 ETC I bought, and sold when it went 3x
0.0 BCH I sold at the peak when first received;  I think 0.33?  Then bought at .01, and sold at the double-up. (maybe theres an extra zero to be placed at the decimal?  but I think im remembering right...)

and given the recent prices: a metric crapton of BUB.   I've made tons off bubble when it was regularly trading for 0.00004000; my sells were for 0.00015-0.00020... I just put a sell order and waited for the pumps that surely came.  I even went as far as to look at historical info, and put an insane bid on the entire stock of coins it could have... lol.  It only ties up 1.1mBTC...

The next time I see the whole alt market go -50% again, I hope I have the spare BTC to invest more than I did this time around.  None of my crapcoin picks went negative... so im kind of kicking myself for not having more BTC to buy in.... the bounceback only took ~3 days this time around......  So this is definitely a good sign for trading.

Now;  These BTC futures traders:   This is where us common folk are going to get run up the ringer....
Without regulation.. imagine whats going to happen to people whom try to play along with the whales.....
