1101  Economy / Economics / Re: A big win for crypto again on: October 05, 2023, 11:45:17 PM
Is this really an Economics thread? More like Politics...

You have summarized the fault immediately, politics has eclipsed economics and now we cannot easily separate the two as there is so much interference and obstruction.  It might be worse still in some countries but its unfortunate that it would also be true in USA that political favor wins success so often.
Positive or not I dont see a great advance globally will come from a person coming into office in one country, I wouldnt deny the significance in this time frame but I just think BTC is bigger then the duration of that particular tune playing now in a game of musical chairs.   I hope we find better things to be honest.
1102  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Up Move Incoming on: October 04, 2023, 11:33:23 PM
Longest term trend I have is a channel and we're near the top of that channel right now which means I think we'd have to break out and out perform prior BTC action for the last year or so to do immediately better in the price.   That is possible but Im also looking at negative markets and wondering for the motivation on BTC doing better then that negative backdrop.   I wouldnt guess on stellar performance just yet,  I think if we stay in this area thats our positive move because often we lose gains so I would like to just retain them.
Draw a line in the sand at 27314 and if we keep above that level as our daily closing low, call it a positive market.  As for how well we do I dont know but I do think still quite a bit more neutral then people hope for.
1103  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: who Want To Bet On 2024 USA elections? on: October 04, 2023, 05:51:15 PM
Wiki is useful for a recall of offical numbers and facts, I woudnt rely on it too much for things like politics except purely by referencing and storing links to other sources and articles.  For plain straight record of a timeline thats fine, I think thats all in its remit but politics is a lens which distorts everything it influences so its a given Wiki has bias just because people have bias in their views.   We cant even report GDP and inflation without some bias entering from how growth is viewed vs inflation.
Twitter or X which I think is a worse name but its recently got a bit better for forcing all users to submit to a information intervention on any views.   That kind of thing popped up during Covid when people started inventing that radio waves like 5G are a viral agent and other nonsense so its quite surprising Elon now encourages people to interact or interfere with views not in line with known sources.    If that was not possible at all before he should be commended for advancing the website quite considerably just from that one new feature, X would be more balanced in this regard then websites which suppress views of readers who disagree and can state firmly why OP is wrong etc.

Allowed is a hypothetical because Ive not noticed it being a mixing service any more then any site is, so far as I can remember they might pass on any details requested by authorities which if true would seem to say its not really best for mixing.   Depends if that not really is good enough for you, its not for me to say just my opinion but seems a funny question.     I didnt hear of limits mentioned, billions would be cool but I presume they've seen millions at some point because a million isnt alot to everyone especially transitory.

Bitcoin itself looks cool, higher low above a prior daily bar decline is good progression.   However the wider market itself has the jitters for a variety of reasons near and longer term factors, thats the problem of being big like BTC got its going to get knocked over in any run and Dollar is way above its weak test or even to signaling any ceiling so in inverse I cant be too confident but BTC does look nice for now.  I'll wait a little longer for this month to guess, for now I will set the bar as high as 29k to convince me especially.
1105  Other / Meta / Re: TalkImg.com - Image hosting for BitcoinTalk on: October 03, 2023, 07:04:01 PM
Thanks for running this service, its very useful.   For me the main thing is convenience and ease of use, my usage is mostly just charts and I dont mind any reduction so long as the scale and text is legible on this forum at a normal size.
1024x1024 should be ok for me, I dont normally want to fill the page with an image unless it has the small text requiring that level of detail mostly its just the shape and pattern of the chart.    An option for people is a display image here but link to a full size large image, most wont click that link or require that detailed traffic use.
1106  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How was your first experience with gambling? on: October 02, 2023, 11:59:13 PM
First gambling I did alot was in school type setting vs other students.  That is ideal in some ways because if you dont win, friends will win so nobody loses in that sense.  The capital is recycled and nobody is taking a fee not the dealer or anyone as its just another player.   We ran the risk of censure since gambling in an academic building during lesson time is hardly in line with a educational policy but nobody seemed to notice we were actually putting down cash for wins etc.  It was never big money just fun stuff.  Ideal way to learn some card games so long as nobody takes it serious or tries to put down large bets and make it serious.
1107  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Will you gamble till old age or not on: October 02, 2023, 10:56:14 PM
Gamble always, keeps you young imo.  If you arent playing something your brain will idle and fall off your head quite possibly.    People always confuse the game with throwing high stake money at the game to win, Im not suggesting you gamble food money but play for sure.   A ton of people play some kind of social gambling just for company and something to win or lose, never gamble outside of your leisure budget for that week and do actually always keep a budget so its fun not a pain when you lose money you needed.   Age doesnt limit fun imo.
Ive seen retired people gamble not just for themselves but host others, stream games even anything at all is your choice when you got more free time in old age.   Its a luxury people should take advantage of Smiley
1108  Economy / Economics / Re: What could Elon Musk be buying next? on: October 02, 2023, 10:32:47 PM
From what I've read Elon should be buying electric infrastructure because the country will require this if his main plan of electric cars becomes a mainstream thing.  Instead of transporting fuel more electric will be required.
So solar wind, hydro power is all investments he should be making and all way more productive then a comms company or advertising however you view twitter.    The main advantage to this new tech is it can be local, a wind farm can generate power and supply cars out in the desert so they dont run out.   Thats feasible but it will require money spent and buildings built, time to do so and labor deployed.  All thats lacking at present.

everybody expects, so therefore it is likely to happen

This is the opposite of what I expect to be true in most cases.     If everyone expects something, we're all bullish ?   That sounds alot like we're all standing on one side of a rowing boat, a highly unstable situation leading to upset and confusion.   Doesnt have to be we are to sink but I expect far more that peoples patience and belief is tested and some will sell before we ever get to that ideal bull market cycle.
Clearly this year hasnt really been or is likely to be that bullish, but we're putting in work hammering the foundations in the rain however miserable that work its required imo.
BTC positive right now but its hit the 200 day average which is the most widely followed indicator.   Again you have that reverse magnetic polarity thing where we could shrink away from whats just a virtual line on a chart.    Main thing is the 200 DMA is rising and thats a positive.  [200 week also very close by serendipitously]

happen sometime after our life time

Sooner then that because if possible it'll occur within a rough schedule of government debt terms.  The majority of the debt is 25 years or less, just long enough that those in power now will not be around to have to justify what happens on the tail end consequences to their choices to raise defict spending.  It'll be in the life time of most of the working population now, if those who fought during ww2 and the recovery after are spending savings now we are comparatively going to reap what we have sown in the last years since 2008 and prior.   We have a falling working population depending on your country and that debt cost has to be repaid.
The reason all of that debt is relevant is that it relates to the likely strength of Dollar or trading counter parties like Euro and YEN.  If weak currency occurs from excessive debt, poor value returned even if not a hard default we see a soft default where actual value fails.   Most obvious example is the end of USSR, the old rouble and new rouble are 10000 to 1 ratio  so tell me what the ratio of 2033 dollar is to 2023 dollar because its not near to 1:1 and we could see it slip quite massively as it fails like a broken clutch gets progressively worse.

As if to mock those who would dare dream, just hours after the monthly BTC prize final price closes and we go into October & BTC gets that proper push upwards; almost all of September was in a box under 27k.  Cant make it up, is there a reason I should note for a 1st day on Sunday action, thats a Japan market hours open price change I guess.   It could be why but we cross categories in the bet selections just after it matters to those who bet there, it was like 500 off being correct for them.   The majority were right in guessing we dont move enough in those final days but you know thats boring, let the 100x daredevil betting people win once or twice a year for fun  Tongue
My guess this month for walls to fall and price to break boundaries within this month, needs to be over 29k as a base price then its got momentum.   If its contained I cant be too impressed, people sell their gains quite often.
1112  Economy / Speculation / Re: Even Seasoned Analysts Can Get it Wrong on: October 02, 2023, 02:26:58 PM
I would not say even they get it wrong but of course its normal to get it wrong.  The difference in any real prediction off charts is knowing when its just jumped the rails and done something different.  If we werent paying attention it would go unnoticed and you miss a great move developing which is a shame, BTC can really move at times.   Mostly its been going in circles but right now its positive past the 50 day and weekly averages, good momentum appears.
What we need now for something new not just a repeat of prior action is to beat the underside of the summer pricing about 29k and above, otherwise we repeat.   I would not trust too much who only expects one thing to happen, market dont care what he predicts and any news or price action can occur at September end.  If his judgement was good, we can now say outperformance has and is more probable to be occuring.
1113  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Never gamble in front of your kids. on: October 02, 2023, 09:14:12 AM
I'd argue the opposite almost, spending money sure and teaching kids about earning money, managing it and so on is a different topic but playing games is natural behavior for children.  Card games are quite normal for kids to play and blackjack was one I played as a child, gambling attached to various games is a different subject I agree thats not for kids but the game itself I dont think is worth excluding anyone from.
Knowing the game vs banning them from playing is where I'd expect them to play a game they are banned from playing anyway so they might as well do it while its still a game not a danger in the gambling form.   Anything can be attached to betting, any sport we cant exclude people from this.
1114  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Violence and anger could be a sign of gambling addiction in youths on: October 01, 2023, 11:59:37 PM
Short temper will not win the game, its a sign of someone losing the game for sure and I have to agree that could relate to gambling addiction or any addiction would relate to this loss of control imo.  Unfortunately I've seen it a few times myself, a normally reasoned person loses their full capability to think through a situation and just ends up reacting badly to almost every event in their lives. Its time to step away and take some time  out in this situation, step away from gambling as you wont win anyway; however not all can or even want to step off ride and go slow.
1115  Economy / Economics / Re: If They Can Pay off their Debts, Why Don't They? on: October 01, 2023, 11:20:45 PM
Quote
If a country is capable of paying off her debts, why don't they?

They cant in short, you have to consider all the debt that is owed to pensioners in the yield on their debt and alot of that equates to government liability also for national pensions.     Japan for example has a horrible demographic imbalance where the working population are minor to those wanting to retire, the debt is being paid via various means of juggling the monetary supply.  Ultimately currency value declines to service the deficit budgets of most major debtor countries.    If a country has a growing working population then its fair to say they can repay the debt in future but at present that money would be deployed only owed, giving a yield meanwhile which to some is useful in itself.
All debts can of course be paid if you confiscate all the wealth and assets of a country, thats government overreach and what some fear will occur.  To a limited extent we have seen bank accounts taken over to stop a government default, the top 20% removed that kind of thing its rare and destructive behavior but quite a feasible scenario imo
1116  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you gamble because you don't have sufficient money? on: October 01, 2023, 10:56:21 PM

The only way this topic makes sense in its direction and question is possibly if a person had the skills related to gambling to assist others.   If you have a lifetime of knowledge and expertise on a particular sports or esports betting field then you can submit your knowledge and decision on games and earn enough to stake a bet.   Otherwise almost everyone else has to earn money outside of gambling to then bet on the games, so it is a leisure activity and its incredibly rare to have the skill and experience to say otherwise and you could earn from what is a past time of playing.
1117  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Longest winning streak on Blackjack on: October 01, 2023, 09:33:37 PM
Online I dont remember having amazing luck just normal wins pattern and you have to make the luck yourself and not bet too much on bad cards.  As said the normal tactics of following the cards played / left in the deck doesnt really apply as much online so that element is gone.  Its then just down to money management.
1118  Economy / Speculation / Re: Take your eyes off from the fall in price on: October 01, 2023, 07:36:35 PM
Heres my long term chart for BTC mostly including this year and the recovery within that point of view.  I never keep just one chart because there can be a variety of views across the world especially in BTC because it has no one single point of entry or exit or trading its all nations and that means a massively diverse range of views and sentiment in the price.

I do think we are bullish and the recent low matches prior action where we recovered.  Mostly obviously we dont want to really loose those Feb peaks of this year as that would seriously challenge the positive meta for quite a few I think.   Another provider giving different volume, a different exchange probably would be to confirm confidence of the move.
Points of note is the blue line is year average, a good swing above that however long term this pricing is especially negative as shown by our continued trade below 200 week moving average and thats not normal.   We did move back above the 50 day MA recently which is something we want to maintain for more positive action.  All time frames relate to each other in varying gearing.
1119  Economy / Economics / Re: Diversification in Global reserves. on: October 01, 2023, 06:25:22 AM
Governments hold gold because long term it always will outperform a currency being printed to excess, they will make a profit from their own mismanagement.   Gold itself has a flat performance, no yield its price is only especially changing (long term) due to the lesser side of that equation devaluing.     So I wouldn't hold it for performance but for stability and every national bank in the world has it I think.    Russia has gold but China had none at the start of this century hence they have been the largest purchasers every year for twenty years so far as I know.
JPM shorting I dont count as much, every short is a future purchase.   Every time BTC is compared to physical commodities it should be the same point, they are not close to being the same thing even if the prices could be traded similarly the dynamics of a non physical product like BTC wont be similar to any commodity where they have to physically move and allocate it with cost of holding and so on.   Add in that BTC has a regulated supply unlike almost anything else I dont know why we'd talk which performs worse or best, they arent trying to do the same thing.   I'd generally agree central banks will have a bias towards holding gold, at present the whole world is biased to Dollar and that bias will decline in favor of almost anything else imo.
1120  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Alternate to Trading View on: October 01, 2023, 12:17:54 AM
Tradingview has been around a while, its a stable platform thats the main thing you wont easily get elsewhere outside of paying for it.   The paid for options are fairly vast and you can debate those.    Freestockcharts is one I used over a decade, they allow free use and track many commodities across the entire market.
Bitcoinwisdom most people know but its not really going to remember long term your chart ideas though it can be ok for months theres no login etc..   Marketwatch has useful charts, if you use a ticker symbol for whatever you are charting.   This would be alot easier if BTC had a proper etf.
