1101  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: NPlusMiner - Pool/Algo switching miner with Plus logic (NVidia) on: February 20, 2018, 08:57:30 PM
1 - you are right, Earning tracker considers only BTC. Values might be right in XVG but the BTC symbol is hardcoded.
2 - Seems like the connection error is about version checking. No big deal.
3 - Don't get why it's not benchmarking all selected algos. Need to investigate.
4 - On this one version upgrade (Not true for all versions) you could copy your stats folder over to avoid benchmarks if on the same rig.

See the edit I did to my previous post - I'm also experiencing the same issue as others where the currently running miner isn't closed before the next one is started... or, perhaps, ever closed at all...

1102  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: NPlusMiner - Pool/Algo switching miner with Plus logic (NVidia) on: February 20, 2018, 08:52:39 PM
Okay, a 3rd and fatal issue - the currently running miner is not closed before the next miner is started, and, in fact, both miners attempt to run concurrently for at least 1 minute, maybe longer but I closed the NPlusMiner window to avoid crashing the display driver from two miners fighting.

Furthermore, closing the NPlusMiner window did not close the first miner; it did close the second, however.

EDIT - also, checking the miner.log file for clues I see that the hashrate for the X17 algo is absurdly high:

Code:
Miner                Algorithm        Speed     mBTC/Day      BTC/Day      USD/Day BTC/GH/Day Pool
-----                ---------        -----     --------      -------      ------- ---------- ----
ccminerpolytimos     X17        476.58 MH/s       10.906      0.01091      127.977    0.02288 zp...
CcminerTpruvot       Bitcore    655.27 MH/s        8.444      0.00844       99.095    0.01289 zp...
CcminerTpruvotcuda9  Tribus    Benchmarking Benchmarking Benchmarking Benchmarking    0.00382 zp...

If a single GTX 1080 can bring in 10.9 mBTC per day I need to get more of them pronto!
1103  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: NPlusMiner - Pool/Algo switching miner with Plus logic (NVidia) on: February 20, 2018, 08:42:23 PM
I figured it out already: use the clone/download button and select download as a zip for those who are still wondering.

Please note that 1.3 is opened for test. Not a release. Use at your own risk.
Thanks for the ones willing to take the risk. Feedback on your tests will help.

Couple of things I can tell you so far, even as it is doing the benchmarking again...

First: I am trying this out with an XVG address on ZPool, not BTC, because it makes tracking earnings easier and eliminates the additional 5% fee charged for converting to BTC. However, your earningstracker batch file seems to assume only BTC as a payout option.

Second: the first time I ran my slightly modified startzpoolplus.bat (with an XVG address and some of the algos deleted) only 8 of the 17 algos I had selected were queued up for benchmarking; here is the beginning of the miner.log if it helps:

I did not press Ctrl-C, even though that is what it looks like. I did type in 'exit' when I noticed it was sitting at the PS command prompt.

EDIT - I should also note that ccminer-polytimos was still plugging away on X17, so this wasn't a fatal error.

Did you sort this one out?

Nope. I was rather hoping you could help me here, rather than the other way around...  Grin

Denarius (Tribus algo) profitability just went through the roof - might have an orphan/fork situation here.

EDIT - maybe not, as 2 of the newly found blocks are getting confirmations.
1108  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: NEMOSMINER multi algo profit switching NVIDIA miner on: February 20, 2018, 03:51:31 PM
I am beginning to understand why @millsys prunes his algo list so aggressively - it looks like my rigs just spent most of the last 3 hours mining the one and only coin that uses the timetravel algo on Zpool - Machinecoin - and got nothing to show for it. Granted, I might eventually get something when/if a block is found, as Zpool uses the proportional payout scheme, but time to find at the given hashrate is something like 10+ hours, and who knows what Machinecoin will be worth then.

As of now the "full" algo list I am using with NemosMiner 2.4.2 on Zpool is:

poly,hsr,xevan,skunk,tribus,c11,x11evo,phi,skein,equihash,sib,bitcore,x17,blakecoin,Nist5,MyriadGroestl,Lyra2RE2,neoscrypt,blake2s,lyra2z

And an even more heavily-pruned algo list I am testing out on two rigs is:

xevan,c11,tribus,phi,skein,equihash,x17,Nist5,Lyra2RE2,neoscrypt,blake2s,lyra2z

Stratum issues.

[2018-02-19 19:37:54] Stratum connection failed: Failed to connect to timetravel.mine.zpool.ca port 3555: Timed out
[2018-02-19 19:37:54] ...retry after 30 seconds
That's good - you don't want to mine that crap coin anyways.

Well, technically, it's an algorithm.. not a coin.    But at the moment it's showing up as the most profitable with zpool. (for probably 5m)

You are both correct: timetravel is the name of the algorithm, but the only coin on Zpool that uses it is Machinecoin.

While Machinecoin looks like just another shitcoin, and wouldn't be worth holding on to, I have no qualms about mining it for auto-conversion to something with brighter prospects.

EDIT - in fact, 2 of my rigs are mining it now, converting to XVG on one and VTC on another.

EDIT 2 - and that proved to be a costly mistake, as even though timetravel was the most profitable algo for much of the last several hours according to NemosMiner, I received not a single Machinecoin... So, removed that algo from the list as something is clearly broken here. it looks like the time to find is quite long - 92 minutes - so might not get credit for my hashrate for awhile yet.

Anyone got problem with import from backup with the new 1.0 wallet? I can create new address and I can see it in the wallet, but when I import from backup UTC file nothing happens.

See my posts on this page and the previous. It looked to me like the import failed, but that was only because the new wallet behaves very differently from the old wallet and I lost connectivity on just one port of my ethernet switch.

Is this from NemosMiner, PowerShell or Zpool?

UPDATE - this error is from NemosMiner and it's the result of the donation function not working correctly. So, not a Zpool problem. Carry on!
1115  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: NEMOSMINER multi algo profit switching NVIDIA miner on: February 19, 2018, 02:03:45 PM
Under what circumstances does this script - that is, 2.4.2 - decide to redo all its benchmarks (besides there not being any *profit.txt files in the Stats folder)?

I've been alternating between 2.4.2 and the MrPlus fork to see if they both chose the same algo as most profitable and now my 2.4.2 install decided it needed to redo all the benchmarks!?!

Oh, one other thing to consider in future releases is that both Lyra2v2 and Neoscrypt require considerable time to get up to speed on multi-GPU rigs. I am manually running ccminer-polytimos - the same one used by NemosMiner - on my 6x 1060 rig right now and it took about 20 minutes to get up to its max speed of 150 MH/s, after starting out at 100 MH/s.

EDIT - and I found a MAJOR bug - if an algo/port which is normally available on a pool has been disabled and NemosMiner attempts to benchmark it the command output for the stratum connection is blank and the miner hangs or exits back to the powershell prompt. Might want to do a cursory check of port availability before attempting to benchmark. For example, Phi is not available right now on Zpool and benchmarking just failed. I believe this is what happened to me with the Timetravel algo a few days ago.

EDIT2 - and it just crashed with a weird entry in the miner.log file: "Account Suspended". Since I don't know if this is an issue with Zpool or NemosMiner I posted about it in the Zpool thread first: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1751272.msg30623787#msg30623787

it's not abandoned, last update is ten days ago, hardest part is to configure it as it lacks active support.

Yeah, at some point it would have been less hassle for me to learn how to write my own script in powershell... and I'm pretty sure that point has already passed.  Roll Eyes

1117  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: NPlusMiner - Pool/Algo switching miner with Plus logic (NVidia) on: February 19, 2018, 11:36:59 AM
Excellent work, but please explain the functionality of the scripts a bit more - a lack of any sort of explanation or anything but the most basic of instructions with Nemos' version has been very frustrating.

Also consider the following if not already implemented or in the works:

1. Increase the default interval for polling the API to 120 seconds. <- I use 300, for example.
2. Only obtain profitability info for the selected algos and the pool in use (unless there is a fallback pool specified).
3. Monitor miners so if there is a disconnect or benchmark failure the script moves on to the next algo, rather than just get stuck.
4. Provide a clean way of exiting. Right now I have to ctrl-C the powershell script, then exit the PS environment, then ctrl-C the miner then, even though there are no instructions to do so, I run stop.bat.

I have some other suggestions but I will wait until I've seen how your fork works before commenting further (a novel concept, eh?).

Thank you.

1. Will consider. Fixing Point 2 makes it OK I believe. One can change it in the bat file anyway.
2. Fixed on master. Will be part of the next release. < This is what killed ahashpool plus servers. You have to learn the hard way sometimes:)
3. No plan yet. But i hear the ask.
4. I don't get that one. Closing NPlusMiner window should be fine.

MrPlus

Okay, I rescind my first suggestion as I am now all but convinced that a rolling average of the last 3-6 snapshots of profitability obtained at 60s intervals will achieve the desired smoothing of the data without losing the ability to respond to legitimate upswings in profitability; averaging the instantaneous and 24h data, which is what I have inferred is being done now, will not behave the same way as it will have the net effect of cutting volatility in half (assuming equal weighting of instantaneous and 24h profitability).

Suggestions 2 & 3 still pertain, but I think just requesting profitability data for the default selection of algos for only the pool in use is fine, rather than further restricting the request to only the actual algos specified in the start[pool].bat file. That may be less tedious for you to implement.

I also rescind suggestion 4 because simply closing the script window - rather than trying to ctrl-c out of it - works fine and doesn't leave any processes still running (which is what I was mainly worried about).

Now, an additional suggestion/caution - I see several, but not all, of the ccminer command lines have intensity specified. While it has been my experience that manually setting intensity can get a better hashrate than letting ccminer choose it automatically, it can also cause a worse hashrate or even crash the miner so I strongly suggest just letting each ccminer instance choose intensity for itself.

EDIT - one more suggestion, though a minor one, is to start each instance of the actual mining program minimized so focus doesn't shift to it. Palgin's neoscrypt miner is an especially egregious violator of this, rudely thrusting it's ugly face in mine whilst I'm trying to do something else. This would be less of an issue on a dedicated mining rig, but right now I am testing your script - and various other things - on my main desktop.
1118  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: █▓▒░-< [ZPOOL.CA][FlexFee™][SegWit] The miners multipool >-░▒▓█ on: February 19, 2018, 11:19:58 AM
...

I'm *hoping* that MrPlus' fork of NemosMiner will help, but if not I will use NiceHash for auto-convert to BTC and Zpool or MiningPoolHub for "single-algo, convert to whatever I want."

try MinerControl* to use all mentioned pools, it has config to use current pool api data or use an average window(60 minutes by default), use master-slave config if run multiple rigs, avoid looking @ zpool webpage stats cause it would block pulling api, use https://miningpoolhubstats.com/ instead.

* - https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1lT8E8j3BKzM7r1Mo2EFHk1NmP8gkdZ1Q and https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=769239.1180

Using a 60 minute average of profitability would be better than relying on either the instantaneous value when polled or the strange attempt to average the 24 hour and instantaneous data that NemosMiner and others are pursuing. However, MinerControl appears to have been abandoned several years ago while MrPlus has been working on a fork of NemosMiner* right now and so seems to be receptive to implementing good ideas provided by the community so I am giving it a shot now.

...
To make a long story short, MSI AB was claiming it was changing the clocks of my RX 560s to 1200/1900, but GPU-Z was reporting they were still at the stock settings of 1295/1750. Inserting an HDMI dummy plug on the first card caused the desired clock values to show up in GPU-Z, Cryptonight hashrate increased by 11% overall (with most from the card with the dummy plug) and Ethash hashrate increased by 8% on the card with the dummy plug while remaining the same on the other 2.

I bought the one dummy plug for my first RX 570, but it didn't appear to need it so this may be specific to Baffin cards or because of the iGPU on the Celeron or even the Onda BIOS. Dunno, and since the dummy plug is a cheap solution I'm not going to worry too much about it.

cause you run windows.  those boards are not good for windows  if you want windows on slot boards use the 8 slot onda b250.

the d1800  is a great board  for smos

it is a less then great board for windows.

I've given SMOS a good hard look and I've concluded it isn't right for me at this time. This is because I am trying out lots of different things with two very different rigs to gain (hopefully valuable) experience and SMOS just isn't that flexible. It seems more suited to multi-rig farms where most if not all of the rigs are assigned one particular coin (or, at least, algorithm) and pretty much left on auto-pilot. Me, I've just got 5 rigs and 3 of those only have a single GPU, so I have to be a lot more nimble about what I am mining at any given time and I am still very much "learning on the job" here, as evidenced by my posts above!

I will definitely try out SMOS in the near future, but can't see deploying it in set-and-forget mode for several months, at least.

72 Hour NICEHASH vs AHASHPOOL
Identical 6x1070ti rigs - 2/15/2018 4pm to 2/18/2018

NiceHash  : 0.00435638 BTC using NiceHashMiner Legacy 1.8.1.8 hashing Equihash, neoscrypt, Lyra2REv2
AHashPool: 0.005000578465575 BTC using NemosMiner 2.4.2 hashing phi,skein,x17,Nist5,neoscrypt,blake2s

...

Finally one of these multi-algo pools beat NiceHash! Were you using the regular batch file, or the plus one? I've gone back to the regular batch files in NemosMiner 2.4.2 because the other forks and the plus version don't seem to be working right. In fact, I suspect the best approach to managing brief spikes to poll the API more frequently (not good news for the pool operators) and then do a 3 - 9 sample moving average of the profitability figures.
