most bitcoin users are in it for the long haul so they hodl  for a long time (you can call it forever). but day trading is a very different story. and for me whenever i do it, the percentage i set it on is very different based on the market state we are in. for example when prices were stable with little volatility my settings were too tight but these days i leave a much bigger room because of volatility. it can go from ~1% to 5%

as i said i see the "cloudflare page" not a browser "error access page" there a lot of difference between these two. the first one is surely the website being offline but the second may be either of them.

and yeah they are back online right now. but i mostly wanted to know if there is any particular reason or news about it, i don't see any activity on their topic from the owner so i created this topic.

i have been playing around for a while in yobit, mostly in their gambling dice with shitcoins for testing strategies for dice gambling.

but it has been about 3 or 4 days that they keep going offline. whenever i open the site i see the cloudflare page showing me an offline version of the site saying the server is not available.

this is happening right now too.

does anybody know what is going on? did they run away?

from 980 (yesterday's price) to $1020 (today's price) is only a 4% rise knowing that things don't look so scary anymore.
and about the rise in my opinion it is mainly because of adoption and also traders who are increasingly rising in number and create a big amount of demand and price of any market is only controlled by supply and demand.

first of all let me say that it is not going to happen because we have entered accumulation mode and prices won't go up much in this stage.

but also, let me tell you that these holidays have no effect because for one as you said it is not holiday in the rest of the world and even if it was, the big trades who change the market have lots of bots and maket watchers that will kick in as soon as there was a change so they can act on it which means they are not out of the market yet.

i was disappointed in trading in the start but unlike what others are saying in this topic, my disappointment was not becasue of losing money but it was because i saw how fake some of the altcoin markets are because i started with trading altcoins.

there is no analysis, there is no reason for many of the rises (or better i say pumps) and the pump and dumps make it hard to speculate and make an honest trade to make honest profit.

majority of altcoins are based on deceite and they all have a short life time.

when you think about it the numbers don't make any sense, that is a huge amount of money that not even millionaires are willing to throw away "online". those millionaire gamblers have their own bookie and do it with fiat on different games, mostly poker.

and the frequensy of these things happeing are also shady. even a millionaire gambler is not making hunderd thousands dollars bets this often.

bitcoin price has been rising slowly and it is like taking slow steps. each time there is a rise immediately afterwards there is a stable price period where everything stays the same and after some dumps (shaking out weak hands) the resistances are tested and then the next step of the rise happens.

and if we see a similar thing with $1000 i am sure price will stay up there.

banks are not all bad, i am not pro banking system but when you think about it there are lots of usages that we are getting from using banks. the most famous one these days (at least in my country) is the loans.

also the fact that you keep your money in a place that is safe and gives you profit on what you keep there.

all i am saying is that in the future, a bank that offers these and some more services with bitcoin can be useful.

because so far we have hit the slow down button today as price is playing around at $950 and going up and down around it.

now the hardest part is speculating which way it will go after this?
and i am talking about the short term, long is obviously going to rise!

the $2000 is too big, and it is best if price goes up more logically and reliably rather than jumping up 2x and then fall down fast.

if you look at the charts you can see a pretty nice linear rise shaping up based on the rises throughout all these years but if we make another breakout now, the same story as 2013 will happen.

the number of people knowing about bitcoin is low but to be frank it has been rising with a nice rate.
every time there is a new rise more people find out about bitcoin as an investment, and the number grows.
every time there is a big business starts accepting bitcoin more users find out about bitcoin as a currency, and the number grows some more.

this actually is the reason for the price rise.

didn't the FOMO already happen with the $100+ rise in a couple of days which happeneded recently? it had all the signs for sure, the volume spike, the increased number of searches for bitcoin in google and other places and so many other things.

apart from being offtopic in here, your comment doesn't make much sense. bitcoin price wasn't minus one million a week or month ago. it was actually pretty high and this rise is not that big despite people saying it is. it is about 17% profit over a couple of weeks after a couple of months of stability.

and i have never seen anybody become a millionaire with 17% profit! unless theya re already a millionaire

ever since price started rising from about $780 i think it is going to stop at some proce (like $860 then $900,...) but every time i think that, the next day price goes up again.

right now as i am writing this price is $933 according to bitstamp.

where do you think this rise is going to slow down and we start seeing the same price for one month. $900? $950? $1100?or $850?

i think this last dip is the one that is going to last.
with the recent drop i think we are at $850+ to stay and continue for the rest of the month between $850 and $900 by boing up and down.
and i think it is a good thing actually because it is more time to accumulate, strengthen the buy support and also prevent a big crash because if price went to $1000-$1100 until end of the year, it would have crashed for sure.

since i am only making very small bets then no it doesn't affect my bets at all because i will continue making the smallest amount of bet that is possible to also lose the smallest amount too. for example i use 1-100 satoshi bets whenever i am playing dice and this way i am minimizing my loss.

in my opinion there should be a balance between buying and selling. it is not good to hodl bitcoin for 10-20 years and sleep on it. i feel a lot better when i buy every month with whatever amount of money i can spare and sell something at least, when there is a big rise to take some profit.

if you mean in the next month they maybe. and swings are never boring

but as we have all been seeing in the past 7 years bitcoin price swings are getting smaller and smaller each year. and that is because the market is growing bigger and that makes resistance on each way bigger.

this is good and its just the start of it. it will help the adoption over time and people will eventually start seeing bitcoin more as a currency rather than an investment or even seeing it as a virtual no value digital asset.
